A Day in Heaven, a Year on Earth

Liu Da gave a wry smile. "You may not know this, but Master has eleven disciples in total. His first disciple isn’t Eldest Senior Brother, but Senior Brother Su Yu, who became Master’s disciple a hundred years before we did."

"I once heard Master mention that Senior Brother Su Yu grew up on Square Inch Mountain. However, he has no Daoist title, and he is very powerful. He left Square Inch Mountain for the Immortal Realm decades ago, which is why you don’t know about him."

"Oh, so that’s how it is. What kind of person is Senior Brother Su Yu?" Ninth Junior Sister Yang Ying asked.

"Well, we spent very little time with Senior Brother Su Yu. He gave me a feeling somewhat like Wukong, though he was far more mature than Wukong." Liu Da said.

At the mention of Wukong, everyone immediately grew somewhat downcast. Yang Ying sighed. "I really don’t know why Master suddenly drove Little Junior Brother away. All he did was show off a little spell. Sigh, we finally got a little junior brother, and now he’s gone just like that."

"All right, all right. Master must have had his reasons for doing so."

At the entrance to Square Inch Mountain, Yang Guang was stunned when he saw the Immortal soldiers clad in white armor. Then, when he spotted Su Yu at their head, he immediately cupped his hands. "Senior Brother."

Su Yu smiled. "Junior Brother, did Master send you out to receive me? Did he say anything?"

Yang Guang replied, "Master told me to settle the people you brought, Senior Brother. I just didn’t expect… there to be so many people… Oh, right, Senior Brother. I saw the corner of Master’s mouth twitch just now. You should hurry and find him."

Su Yu patted Yang Guang’s shoulder. "All right, then I’ll leave these brothers of mine to you, Junior Brother."

"Rest assured, Senior Brother."

Before long, Su Yu arrived in the main hall. All eight disciples looked toward him, while Liu Da and the third disciple immediately cupped their hands and called out, "Greetings, Senior Brother."

The others promptly followed suit, cupping their hands. "Greetings, Senior Brother."

Su Yu smiled. "I’ve only been gone for a few days, and there are already so many junior brothers and sisters. Hello, junior brothers and sisters. Have you seen Master?"

Liu Da said, "Senior Brother, Master told you to find him in his room."

Su Yu nodded. "Then I’ll be going first."

With that, Su Yu ran off.

After Su Yu left, everyone froze. What had Su Yu just said? He had only been gone for a few days???

Outside Patriarch Bodhi’s room, Su Yu knocked before entering. Patriarch Bodhi said irritably, "I haven’t even told you to come in yet. Why did you come in?"

Su Yu said with a smile, "Master, what’s yours and mine?"

"You’re wanted by the Heavenly Court, yet you ran straight to me. And you even brought your entire household along with three thousand people. What are you trying to do?" Patriarch Bodhi got straight to the point.

Su Yu smiled. "They’re all my subordinates, after all. Besides, they’ve all learned the Fight Heaven Battle Art. Once you teach them some Daoist and Buddhist arts, Master, their futures will be limitless!"

"What? Say that again? They all learned the Fight Heaven Battle Art? Are you sure you’re not joking with me?" Patriarch Bodhi shouted in shock.

Su Yu nodded. "Yes, every last one of them learned it. Aren’t you amazing, Master? Didn’t you calculate it yourself?"

Patriarch Bodhi shook his head. "The Fight Heaven Battle Art has an extraordinary origin. I cannot calculate anything related to it. I just can’t understand how all three thousand of them learned it…"

Patriarch Bodhi’s feelings were incredibly complicated. He had studied the damned thing for who knew how many years without learning it, yet now three thousand people had mastered it in an instant. It was too damn discouraging.

Patriarch Bodhi looked at Su Yu. "Hurry up and tell me what happened."

A moment later, Su Yu told Patriarch Bodhi everything that had happened. After listening, Patriarch Bodhi was dumbfounded. "You said you told the Fight Heaven Battle Art that if it didn’t let them learn it, you’d beat it to death, and then they learned it?"

Su Yu blinked, then nodded.

Patriarch Bodhi stroked his beard in confusion. "Could this be the proper way to cultivate the Fight Heaven Battle Art? Threaten it first?"

"By the way, Master, I was only gone for a few days. How did you take in another six disciples?" Su Yu asked in confusion.

Patriarch Bodhi paused, then knocked Su Yu on the head. "Disciple, didn’t studying turn you stupid? Have you forgotten that one day in Heaven is one year on Earth?"

Su Yu slapped his forehead and smiled awkwardly. "I forgot, I forgot. So I’ve been gone for around ten years?"

Patriarch Bodhi shook his head. "No. You’ve been gone for eighty-two years."

"How could it have been that long?" Su Yu asked, puzzled.

Patriarch Bodhi explained, "You may not know this, but the borderlands are not part of the Immortal Realm. They were built between the Immortal and Demon Realms, so time passes differently there than in the Immortal Realm. One day in the borderlands is equal to ten days in the Immortal Realm and ten years in the mortal realm. You spent eight days in the borderlands and two days in the Immortal Realm, so you’ve been gone for eighty-two years. During that time, I took in another seven disciples."

Su Yu suddenly realized something and asked, "Seven? Has Sun Wukong already appeared?"

Patriarch Bodhi looked at Su Yu in confusion. "Xiao Yu, how do you know about Wukong?"

Su Yu smiled and waved his hand. "I calculated it."

Patriarch Bodhi stared at Su Yu for several seconds before saying, "If you don’t want to say it, I won’t force you."

"Hehe, Master, have you already driven Sun Wukong down the mountain?" Su Yu asked.

Patriarch Bodhi nodded. "It seems you know quite a lot. Indeed, I have already driven Wukong down the mountain."

Su Yu asked in confusion, "Why exactly? Was it because you were afraid of being discovered by the Heavenly Dao?"

Patriarch Bodhi stared at Su Yu in shock. After a moment, he said, "Damn, do you know everything?"

Su Yu smiled and nodded.

Seeing this, Patriarch Bodhi sighed. "Since you know, I won’t beat around the bush. Wukong’s destiny is deeply entangled with the Heavenly Dao. If I stayed with Wukong all this time, the Heavenly Dao would surely discover me and erase me."

Su Yu nodded. "I understand. By the way, Master, I’m very interested in Junior Brother Wukong. In a few days, I plan to go see him."

Patriarch Bodhi nodded, then waved his whisk. A wooden token appeared before Su Yu. Patriarch Bodhi said, "This wooden token carries the aura of Square Inch Mountain. When Wukong sees it, he will believe your identity."

Su Yu accepted the token and tucked it into his robe. "Thank you, Master. If there’s nothing else, I’ll go spend some time with my junior brothers and sisters."

"Go on, go on. Oh, right, your junior brothers and sisters are all still below the Great Luo realm. Their cultivation is rather weak, and they lack combat experience. Have your subordinates help them gain more practical experience," Patriarch Bodhi said.
