A partner?

Two days later, Chen Mo packed his luggage, which consisted of a change of clothes and toiletries, fitting everything into a large suitcase.

In addition to that, there were gifts from Wang Yang and some gifts he bought for his parents.

He checked the time; it was 10 AM.

“Hmm… it’s time to head home!”

Ding-dong!

The doorbell rang.

Chen Mo walked to the door, opened it, and saw Yang Dahai and his family.

“Mr. Chen, the luggage is all there. I’ll carry it,” Yang Dahai said.

“There’s not much. I can manage it myself.” Chen Mo pointed to a large suitcase, two gift bags, and a backpack by the door.

“How can we let you carry it, Mr. Chen?” Yang Dahai said, picking up the largest suitcase and heading to the elevator, while Dong Hong also picked up the two bags of gifts and followed.

Yang Duoduo, looking serious, walked over to the laptop bag and used both hands to lift the backpack.

She looked up at Chen Mo.

“Chen gege, I can carry luggage too!”

Chen Mo smiled faintly, seeing Yang Duoduo struggling.

He reached out and took the backpack from her.

“This is a bit heavy. You can help when you’re a bit older.”

“Okay, then Yang Duoduo will grow up as quickly as possible.” Yang Duoduo followed beside Chen Mo.

Entering the elevator, the four went directly to the underground parking garage.

Chen Mo unlocked his car.

Yang Dahai opened the trunk, put the suitcase inside, and also took the gifts from Dong Hong’s hands, arranging them neatly inside.

“Mr. Chen, are you really sure you don’t need Yang Dahai to drive you back?” Dong Hong stepped forward and asked.

“Yes, yes, Chen gege, are you really not letting my dad drive you?” Yang Duoduo nodded in agreement.

“Mr. Chen, I’ll just drive you,” Yang Dahai said.

“No need. It’s not that far; it’s only about a three-hour drive. No need to go through all that trouble.” Chen Mo waved his hand, opened the car door, and got in.

“Then, Mr. Chen, please be careful on the road,” Dong Hong said, reassuringly.

“I will,” Chen Mo nodded.

“Chen gege, we’ll see each other after the New Year. I’ll miss you!” Yang Duoduo waved her small hand.

“I’ll miss you too. Goodbye.” Chen Mo smiled at Yang Duoduo, then started the car and left the underground parking garage.

…………

Beiming County, an old residential area.

“Old Chen, are all the ingredients ready? When our son comes back, we can start cooking.”

“They’re ready; they’re all in the kitchen.” Yang Xiulian, hearing this, still went to the kitchen to check, confirming that all the dishes Chen Mo liked were prepared, then she walked back to the living room and sat down.

“Old Chen, our son has been graduated for almost two years now, why hasn’t he found a girlfriend yet?”

“Young people’s ideas are different now, you know.” Chen Jingrui looked at the TV in front of him and replied casually.

“But even if their ideas are different, they still need to start a family. They can’t just stay alone.”

“Well, that’s not something you can force. It’s not like you can just find someone whenever you want. You have to have the opportunity to meet someone, right?”

“Aren’t you worried at all?” Yang Xiulian said, somewhat displeased, looking at Chen Jingrui’s unconcerned expression.

“What’s the use of worrying? In the end, it still depends on our son’s own choice. I told you, don’t worry so much.” Chen Jingrui said somewhat helplessly. Ever since the Mid-Autumn Festival, his wife had started worrying about their son’s girlfriend, afraid he would end up like the Old Wang family’s butcher’s son, who was already over 30 and still single.

“How can I not worry? I heard that the Old Wang family’s butcher’s son still hasn’t found a girlfriend.” Yang Xiulian glared at Chen Jingrui, knowing that talking to him wouldn’t yield any results.

She then picked up a small booklet from the coffee table. These were all girls around Chen Mo’s age that she had learned about at work or from neighbors.

She planned to show them to Chen Mo when he returned, to see if there was anyone he liked.

Among them, there was one girl she felt was very good.

After a while, Yang Xiulian checked her phone, calculated the time, and estimated that her son would arrive in about half an hour.

She then got up and walked to the kitchen. Chen Jingrui, seeing this, also followed her to the kitchen to help.

………….

Old residential area.

Chen Mo slowly pulled into a parking space, this time choosing one further away.

This avoided the gathering spot of the elderly uncles and aunties at the community entrance. This time, he didn’t have much to carry, so he could take it up himself.

Therefore, he didn’t notify his family.

He put on his backpack, opened the trunk, and took out his suitcase and gifts.

He locked the car and headed straight for home.

He soon reached his doorstep, looking at the old door, Chen Mo sighed inwardly.

This house had been around since his parents got married, and it was now over 40 years old.

All the facilities were quite outdated.

His current assets were 2.21 million. This time, he came back intending to buy his parents a new home.

In Beiming County, even the best-located houses were only about 4,000 per square meter.

Buying a new house here was completely feasible.

He gently knocked on the door.

Soon, the door was opened by his father.

“You’re back,” Chen Jingrui said faintly, looking at Chen Mo at the door, and casually took the suitcase from Chen Mo’s hand.

“Hmm… Where’s Mom?” Chen Mo nodded.

This was his usual way of interacting with his father; when they were together, they simply didn’t have much to say.

“She’s in the kitchen. She still has one dish left to cook.”

“Oh!” The two fell silent again.

Chen Mo changed into his slippers, casually placed the gifts aside, and walked into the living room.

He just happened to see his mother walking out of the kitchen.

“Son, you’re back! The food’s just finished. Go wash your hands quickly, and we can eat. You must be hungry after driving all this way.” His mother, Yang Xiulian, said with a joyful expression, looking at Chen Mo as he walked into the living room.

“Okay, Mom.” Chen Mo nodded and went straight into the bathroom, washed his hands, and came out.

“Come on, eat! It’s all your favorites.” His mother quickly urged Chen Mo as he came out.

Chen Mo pulled out a chair and sat down, looking at the dishes on the table.

Braised pork, stir-fried pork slices, garlic chives with meat… These were all dishes he had loved since childhood.

“Come on, eat! Today’s braised pork is very well made, and it’s not too fatty.” His mother said, picking up a piece of meat and placing it in Chen Mo’s bowl.

“You two eat too.” Chen Mo said to his parents, then picked up the braised pork from his bowl and took a bite.

“How does it taste?”

“Delicious.”

“If it’s delicious, I’ll make it again tomorrow. There’s still a piece of pork belly left.”

“Is work tiring now?”

“It’s alright, not tiring. After all, I’m a leader; I don’t have to do much work.”

“Good that it’s not tiring. So, during this time, did you meet any girls over there, or start a relationship?”
