#247
A Person from Two Thousand Years Later
"Ahem…?"
"I…"
The sedative gradually wore off, and the Princess from Asgard awoke from her slumber. As she opened her eyes, the faint confusion in them faded along with the return of her memories, replaced by a surge of anger.
"Beckett!"
"What?"
The figure sitting sideways in the pilot’s seat at the central console glanced back upon hearing her voice. His indifferent attitude only made Hela’s anger burn hotter.
"Ms. Hela, please fasten your seatbelt. We are about to reach the next space-jump point."
After withdrawing the eight mechanical arms restraining Hela, Woz appeared before her and reminded her to buckle up.
Sit improperly on a ship, and you’d cry two lines of tears after smashing your head.
The Other had already proven this truth through countless practical demonstrations.
"The next… space jump—"
Whoosh!
The spacecraft accelerated the instant it reached the space-jump point, abruptly cutting off Hela’s questioning voice.
Without a seatbelt restraining her, her body pitched forward as expected. Just as her delicate cheek was about to collide with the ship’s cold floor, even The Other, who was firmly gripping his seatbelt, wore an expression of eager anticipation.
A red tail suddenly shot out, wrapping twice around Hela’s waist and saving her from the tragedy that would have certainly followed.
"Meow~"
On the small seat beside Beckett, the orange cat clung tightly to its seatbelt with its pink little paws. It blinked curiously at the red tail behind Beckett.
"Meow~"
The orange cat that never got fat lowered its head and tried hard to wag its tiny tail. But it was far too short to reach Hela, making it pout in frustration.
They both had tails, so why couldn’t it do that…
Buzz!
With a tremor running through the hull, the spacecraft finished its space jump and stabilized.
The red tail around Hela’s waist quietly loosened. Given enough time to react, Hela braced both hands against the floor, used the rebound force to roll to the console, and rose to her feet.
"Beck—"
"If you’re going to thank me, don’t bother."
"You’d be better off taking a shower and changing your clothes first." Beckett waved a hand, cutting off Hela’s words. He pointed at the bloodstains still on her body with his right index finger, his face full of disdain.
"You!"
Lowering her head, Hela immediately saw the five-fingered imprints branded across mountain after mountain. She pointed at Beckett for a long while, unable to say a word despite her rising fury.
Then she turned and stormed away, gritting her teeth.
She would wash this eyesore off first.
Watching Hela leave, Beckett’s lips curled upward. "Woz, how far are we from the Skrull Empire?"
"Based on our current speed, we are eighteen days away from the Skrull Empire’s capital planet."
"Still that long?"
Looking at the route displayed on Woz’s light screen, Beckett could not help frowning.
The Kree Empire possessed vast territory. As an old power comparable to it, and one established even earlier than the Kree Empire, the Skrull Empire naturally did not have a small domain either.
Although the Skrull Empire’s territory had steadily fallen into Kree hands in recent years due to corruption among its leadership and various other factors, a starving camel was still larger than a horse.
"Yes—"
"Alert! Alert!"
"Unknown energy tracking detected!"
"Unknown energy tracking detected!"
The expression on Woz’s adorable, robotic-cat-like face abruptly turned serious. In the boundless universe, a brilliant seven-colored beam shot straight toward the Beckett!
Whoosh!
Under Woz’s control, the Beckett, already flying at maximum speed, activated its super transformation mode. Its mechanical wings spread open and ignited their thrusters. Yet, despite its majestic resemblance to an eagle spreading its wings, it was still no match for the seven-colored radiance.
Within only a few breaths, the seven-colored light swallowed the eagle whole!
"Beckett?"
Hela had just removed her clothes and entered the bathroom when she sensed something wrong before she could properly rinse herself off. She quickly put her already-wet clothes back on and rushed out. The blinding light forced her to shield her eyes.
Only after the ship’s alarm stopped did Hela lower her hand. The sight before her left her utterly stunned.
"This is… Asgard?"
Hela knew the scenery of her homeland better than anyone, but she clearly remembered one thing—the Beckett was supposed to be heading for the Skrull Empire’s capital planet to cause trouble.
Ten minutes earlier, Asgard, the royal palace bedchamber.
After helping Odin out of the healing pool once more, Frigga looked at her husband with eyes full of worry.
Just moments ago, Odin had told his wife everything about his defeat. If Heimdall had not sensed that Odin was in danger and forcibly intervened in the battle, damaging his own life force to rescue him from the battlefield, Odin would likely have already become a corpse.
Heimdall’s intervention was also precisely why Odin had previously declared a complete lockdown across Asgard.
He did not know whether that lofty god would relentlessly pursue a challenger who did not know his own limits. The only thing he knew was that he—or rather, Asgard—had to prepare in advance.
Prepare for the wrath of a god that might descend upon them.
"Where is Hela?"
After Frigga helped him get dressed, Odin spoke.
"She’s causing trouble on Planet Hala with Beckett." Frigga gave a bitter smile and shook her head, then told Odin about the deal she had secretly made with Thanos.
"The Kree Empire’s capital planet, Hala?" Odin frowned.
"Yes." Frigga nodded.
"Outrageous!"
Having confirmed the truth, Odin was furious, his beard bristling and his eyes wide.
Hela had not even reached her peak yet, and she went to cause trouble on Planet Hala?
Wasn’t that throwing herself into the fire?!
"Bring Hela back. Now. Immediately."
Odin had initially wanted to let his daughter wander outside for a few more days to lie low, but he immediately overturned the decision that had just surfaced in his mind.
"I tried, but I couldn’t reach her. She should be somewhere with extremely chaotic energy."
"…Heimdall, bring Hela back. Now." Odin fell silent. Only after a long moment did he grasp Gungnir beside the bed and notify his most loyal subordinate.
"As you command."
Heimdall’s voice echoed through the bedchamber as Odin wearily closed his eyes.
"Odin…"
Seeing her husband like this, Frigga could not help feeling distressed.
"I’m fine, Frigga." Odin opened his eyes, and the weariness in them had already vanished.
"Don’t worry. I’ll make thorough preparations. Trust me." Odin reached out and pulled his wife into his embrace, gradually making a decision in his heart.
He would go find Laufey.
He would sit down and speak with him face-to-face.
Compared to that god who might arrive, eliminating Laufey was insignificant.
All of Asgard’s forces stationed abroad had to return, so Asgard’s strength could be restored to its peak. And for them to return, he had to speak with Laufey about peace among the Nine Realms.
True peace…
Somewhere in Asgard, two other figures appeared alongside the seven-colored rainbow light that had brought Beckett and Hela back to Asgard.
One large, one small.
The larger one was broad and muscular, with messy blond hair and a beer belly that even loose clothing could not conceal. The smaller one was a raccoon.
"Whoa, cool!"
"Thor, I never knew your Asgard was already this magnificent and spectacular two thousand years ago!" Seeing the world of two thousand years ago for the first time, Rocket marveled at the gorgeous, imposing architecture before him.
"Actually, it’s my first time seeing it too."
"Gulp, gulp, gulp…" After downing several mouthfuls of vodka in a row, the man named Thor felt inexplicably uneasy.
His father from two thousand years ago… his mother…
And that… sister…
"Alright, alright, stop drinking!"
"We need to figure out how to put this thing on the Energy Devouring Beast!"
"If the records are correct, your sister’s wedding to that man is the best opportunity for us to take away the Energy Devouring Beast."
Rocket kicked Thor’s calf in irritation, urging him onward.
I was especially careful writing the ending of this volume~
I’m heading out to another dinner gathering tonight…
This won’t do, this year alone I’ve gained nearly twenty pounds. I can’t even fit into my rider belt anymore…
I absolutely have to lose weight another day… lose weight…
