A Ruthless Man Meets Someone Even More Ruthless

Chapter 257: A Ruthless Man Meets Someone Even More Ruthless

This time, there didn’t seem to be an attack as swift as the one just now.

Instead, there was a pause.

"Analyze?" Obito raised his head. "Analyze the power of Space-Time Ninjutsu? How foolish."

He was not flustered at all.

This Space-Time Ninjutsu originated from a Kekkei Genkai, from one’s bloodline. Only its owner could possess it. No one else, not even the legendary Sage of Six Paths, could master such power.

"Dispel!"

Kakashi’s tone seemed to suddenly become cheerful.

Red lightning surged toward Obito once again.

The moment Kakashi spoke those two words, Obito almost instinctively shifted his position.

This time, the attack struck his arm.

Then—

It pierced straight through and shattered the ground once again.

"What was that?" Obito raised both hands. "I thought you could really dispel my Ninjutsu, but it turns out you were just saying it. Kakashi, you—"

Obito’s words suddenly stopped.

Within his contracted pupils,

his right hand, which had just been struck, began crumbling into dust bit by bit, starting from his fingers. Then it spread to his palm, wrist, and forearm, rapidly advancing toward his upper arm. There was no pain, only a tangible sense of loss.

"What is going on!?"

Obito shouted in terror, an unknown fear surging through his heart.

How is this possible!?

That was Space-Time Ninjutsu. His arm had clearly been transferred into another dimension before the attack reached him.

Why was this happening?

From the start of the battle, Obito finally lost his composure. The Ninjutsu of his Mangekyō Sharingan was his greatest trump card. If he lost it, then with his mediocre Wood Release ability, he would be unable to accomplish anything at all.

And besides that,

what was truly gnawing at his heart was his inability to understand what was happening before his eyes!

What is going on?

The disintegration of his body had almost spread to his shoulder. A Kunai appeared in Obito’s other hand, and he severed the entire arm.

But that still wasn’t enough.

He abruptly raised a finger. Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique.

He spat out flames, directing them at the severed arm.

The smell of burning flesh spread through the air.

Obito’s forehead was already covered in sweat.

"Hahaha, hahahahaha."

Kakashi let out a series of grotesque, manic laughs.

He spread his arms.

Blue magic formations continuously emerged from his palms, beneath his feet, and above his head. They grew more numerous and densely packed, and along with that distorted laughter, a terrifying aura filled the entire world.

"Crawling ants beneath my feet, do you think mere space and time can stop me? Be destroyed. Let everything be destroyed. Only the void, only darkness, is everything!"

Accompanied by those words, which sounded either like a verdict or a murmur,

brighter and brighter crimson light filled the area around him.

"This is bad, this is bad…"

Cold sweat broke out over Obito’s head. He gritted his teeth and rapidly retreated.

Since Rin’s death,

he had never been as flustered as he was now.

But—

This really was not good.

Even the scattered power had already begun annihilating everything around it. Trees, rocks, everything turned to ash amid the red lightning, and his barrier likewise failed to hold out for long.

Even the light seemed to be swallowed by this power. Everywhere his eyes could see, the entire world seemed to dim.

"Damn it! Argh! Damn it!" Obito felt an urge to curse.

Even though he was retreating at top speed, that sensation of death did not diminish in the slightest.

A red beam as thick as a person suddenly crashed down before him from the sky.

It made no sound at all.

It merely left behind a neat, enormous hole.

Damn it—!

Obito ran even faster. He suddenly realized

that he might have underestimated those Jars far too much.

New World!

A power he had never even heard of before—only the New World could possibly possess it!

Wait—

Obito slightly turned his head and looked at Kakashi, who had not pursued him but was still wantonly destroying everything around him. Despite the fear in his heart, he could not help stopping.

He thought of something extremely frightening.

Could Kakashi’s current state last forever?

"Collapse, hahaha! Be destroyed! Let everything return to nothingness, hahahaha!"

That voice, mixed with wild laughter, continued to echo across the sky. In this short time, the ground in the area had already been devastated beyond recognition. Obito swallowed hard. If even the Space-Time Ninjutsu of his Mangekyō Sharingan could be dispelled, who in this world could stop him?

Could it be—

that the world really would be destroyed just like this?

Even Obito felt a bone-chilling cold rise in his heart.

He had only wanted to cast a Genjutsu. He had never intended to destroy everything.

Moreover,

Rin was still in this world.

"I have to stop him! Damn it!"

Obito punched the tree beside him, feeling as though he might spit blood.

Shen Mo, who was high in the sky, could not help clicking his tongue.

When a ruthless man meets someone even more ruthless, even the fearless have no choice but to panic.

However, Obito was acting this way because he lacked information.

On top of that, the destruction of his Mangekyō Sharingan’s Space-Time Ninjutsu had turned his contempt into excessive caution.

But in reality,

Kakashi had not analyzed anything.

It was simply that this ability itself possessed destructive properties against energy. The Ninjutsu of this world was fundamentally the circulation of Chakra, and destroying even the slightest part of it was enough for the remaining power to collapse Obito’s defenseless body.

If he were given more time,

he should still have had a chance to win.

But he no longer had that time.

Shen Mo’s gaze shifted into the distance.

A streak of yellow lightning flashed across the sky.

Minato Namikaze appeared not far from Obito.

Looking at Kakashi, who was laughing wildly and destroying everything like a demon god, shock and worry also showed in Minato Namikaze’s eyes. However, he did not find the situation as terrifying as Obito did.

Because he knew

that Kakashi had never bought a Level 3 Chest, and no matter how powerful the items in a Level 2 Chest were, they were unlikely to be powerful enough to destroy everything.

By comparison,

his gaze turned toward the masked man.

He took out his Noble Phantasm.

"I never thought I’d see you again. This time, I won’t let you escape so easily."

"Hey, hey." Obito looked at his teacher. Although he was somewhat surprised by his resurrection, he could not help pointing at Kakashi in the distance. "The situation over there looks more serious right now, doesn’t it?"

"More serious?"

Minato Namikaze glanced at his empty sleeve.

He sensed the Badge in his arms, which showed no reaction at all.

He narrowed his eyes.

He seemed to have keenly guessed something.
