Absolutely Enough to Drive a Perfectionist Crazy
Chapter 267: This Was Enough to Drive a Perfectionist Crazy
If she couldn’t figure it out, she wouldn’t think about it.
"I like straightforward men." Mei Terumi chuckled softly, though there seemed to be a trace of irritation beneath her charming smile. "Since Lord Hokage is being so straightforward, then I’ll be straightforward too. Lord Hokage, who exactly is the gentleman you mentioned?"
"I won’t say." Minato Namikaze merely smiled and shook his head.
Mei Terumi’s brow visibly twitched, and she could barely maintain her smile.
Was he teasing her?
You were the one who brought it up first!
Though she had a good temper, she had her own temper too, especially when facing people who were not her own.
"The reason I did not hide his existence is because it cannot be hidden." Minato Namikaze seemed to sigh. "No one can predict that gentleman’s actions, and no words can describe his existence. Therefore, Ms. Mei Terumi, whether you can meet him and come to understand him does not depend on me, nor does it depend on the Intelligence Series you obtained in Konoha. It depends solely on that gentleman’s will."
As he spoke those words, Minato Namikaze did not shift his gaze.
He simply looked calmly at the envoy before him.
Yet Mei Terumi’s brows furrowed even more tightly.
This attitude was far too strange.
As Konoha’s Hokage, he was so respectful toward that man. He was even unwilling to mention his name, and every word seemed to emphasize the other party’s transcendent status.
That was not something mere strength could achieve.
"In any case, I now understand your purpose here, and I also know a little about Kirigakure’s internal affairs." Minato Namikaze said at last. "You may remain in Konoha for a while. If that gentleman wishes to meet you, then you should be able to see him. We will arrange your accommodations."
"Wait." Mei Terumi raised a brow. "Our primary purpose in coming here is still to reestablish commercial channels with Konoha and the Land of Fire."
Kirigakure had suffered a devastating loss of strength.
More than a decade of isolation.
Constant internal conflict.
It had severely damaged their economic strength. Therefore, Mei Terumi had indeed come to Konoha intending to rebuild commercial channels.
"There is no hurry over that." Minato Namikaze shook his head with a smile. "I was only revived yesterday myself, and I do not yet understand many matters well enough to discuss such things for the time being."
He wanted to observe Shen Mo’s actions first.
Whether it involved war or an alliance, Minato Namikaze found it difficult to make a decision now.
Though he personally hoped for peace, war with Sunagakure and Akatsuki had already arrived.
Everything had to be handled cautiously.
After saying those final words, Minato Namikaze gave a slight gesture, and his figure gradually dispersed.
That was right. He had not vanished directly using the Flying Thunder God Technique, but slowly transformed into particles of light and faded away.
It was the Heroic Spirit’s own ability to assume spirit form.
Mei Terumi’s pupils visibly contracted.
"Lady Mei Terumi…" Chojuro was somewhat nervous. That scene had truly been rather eerie.
"It was neither the Flying Thunder God Technique nor a clone." Mei Terumi took a deep breath. She was beginning to keenly sense just how abnormal Konoha was.
The Intelligence Series was one thing.
But seeing it with her own eyes was something else entirely.
It left her with an extremely cautious impression of that man from the rumors.
She wanted even more to know who he really was.
And at that moment.
The door was suddenly pushed open. A blonde woman in a green coat strode in, her head held high and chest thrust out. Her gaze swept over everyone present before finally settling on Mei Terumi’s face.
The one who had arrived was Tsunade.
"I’m the one responsible for receiving you. Just call me Lady Tsunade." Tsunade’s expression carried a faint hint of gloom.
She was clearly a Medical Ninja. It had been one thing when the previous Third Hokage asked her to receive Shen Mo, but now the Fourth Hokage had also asked her to receive Kirigakure’s envoys.
This was truly too much.
"Tsunade?" Mei Terumi’s expression showed some shock.
Naturally, she had heard of Tsunade: one of Konoha’s Sannin, the only remaining Princess of the Senju Clan.
Intelligence had indeed indicated that she had returned to Konoha.
But how could she be this young? She looked considerably younger than Mei Terumi herself.
Almost instinctively.
Mei Terumi asked, "Lady Tsunade, how do you maintain such a youthful appearance?"
"Hm?" Tsunade looked at the mature and dignified woman before her, and a slightly smug smile appeared at the corner of her lips. "That is a secret. Speaking of which, your complexion doesn’t seem very good, does it? How old are you? Thirty or forty?"
Crack.
A distinct sound came from Mei Terumi’s palm.
Her gaze sharpened.
"I’m only twenty-eight this year." Mei Terumi blinked her large eyes and spoke softly with a smile. "Still, it truly is surprising that Aunt Tsunade can remain so young. After all, I had already heard of Aunt Tsunade’s fame when I was a child. By the way, Aunt Tsunade, you’re already over fifty, yet you still aren’t married?"
"…" Tsunade’s expression began to stiffen as well.
Chojuro was practically trembling. He could feel an intense pressure coming from these two powerful women.
Even Shen Mo, watching from his own home, wore a strange expression.
They were both beautiful, powerful, and single women. He could not help feeling that Minato Namikaze’s decision to have Tsunade receive them was somewhat ill-intentioned.
However, the pressure came quickly and went quickly.
The first to restrain herself was Tsunade. She now crossed her arms over her chest, wearing a confident smile.
"Things like age mainly depend on one’s mentality and appearance. That is what a powerful existence of unknown age told me. In his eyes, I’m probably only around seventeen."
After getting to know Shen Mo and Ikaros, Tsunade truly no longer cared much about her age.
After all, there was a woman over there who had supposedly lived for tens of thousands of years and was still as beautiful and captivating as ever.
Mei Terumi looked at Tsunade, who seemed to radiate youthful energy, and felt as though she had lost horribly.
A youthful appearance would have been one thing, but even her temperament was youthful?
Mei Terumi gritted her pearly teeth.
Yet she keenly noticed Tsunade’s previous words.
"A powerful existence?" she repeated.
Tsunade seemed to widen her eyes slightly and looked Mei Terumi over again from top to bottom before suddenly realizing.
"So that’s it. You came for him."
"Who exactly is that existence?"
Mei Terumi truly could not stop herself from asking. She now felt unbearably restless.
It was as though that man was everywhere.
Yet she could never see his face clearly.
It would have been fine if he were someone she did not need to care about.
But he was such an important existence.
This was enough to drive a perfectionist crazy.
"If he wants to see you, no one can stop him. But if he doesn’t want to…" Tsunade suddenly paused, gave the woman before her a deep look, and then said, "Then I won’t tell you."
