Adam Li, One Good Deed a Day

Watching the two of them walk away, Adam suddenly smiled.

"What is it?"

Isidora looked at Adam, who had suddenly started smiling.

"Nothing. I was just feeling a little sentimental… Life really was unpredictable."

Adam shook his head.

A boy driven by revenge suddenly discovered that he might have targeted the wrong person. At the same time, he came face-to-face with his true enemy, yet because he had a more important goal in mind, he could not reveal anything right away…

When Sebastian mentioned Rookwood and Ragnok, the hatred that suddenly flashed through his heart caught Adam’s attention. After all, of all emotions, love and hate were the ones Adam knew best.

Since Sebastian was someone from this era who knew of his existence, Adam could not help paying him a little more attention. If necessary, he would still erase everything about himself from Sebastian’s memories.

So Adam followed the memories that occasionally surfaced in Sebastian’s mind and learned quite a bit about him.

When he was young, his parents had died of carbon monoxide poisoning during their research. The village where he lived had been attacked by goblins, and his sister had also been affected by Dark Magic at that time.

After failing to find a way to treat his sister, Sebastian had even embarked on the path of studying Dark Magic…

After all that, was it true that everyone was the protagonist of their own life? This opening had far too much protagonist energy.

What was interesting was that Adam, who knew exactly how much goblins understood negative emotional energy, was well aware that goblins certainly had the ability to cause destruction. But producing that sort of Dark Magic that could inflict lasting harm and slowly erode a person’s life force? That would be asking too much of them.

Based on Adam’s experience, the culprit was more likely to have been a wizard, especially a Dark wizard. And right now, there happened to be a Dark wizard working with Ragnok who might know something.

So Adam searched through Rookwood’s memories using keywords. Even he had not expected the result: Rookwood himself had been the one responsible!

With such a coincidence, how could Adam not feel that life was unpredictable, that one could meet anywhere in this world, and all that?

Even more coincidentally, in order to find even the slightest possibility of saving his sister from the mysterious and powerful Adam, Sebastian had followed them all the way here without being driven off.

With fate and coincidence like this, if Adam did not take the opportunity to do a good deed and enjoy the show while he was at it, even heaven would not forgive him!

After all, he was Adam Li, known far and wide as the man who did one good deed a day!

And clearly, Sebastian’s complicated train of thought just now had greatly amused Adam. He had even needed to change the subject to stop himself from laughing.

On the other side, although she did not know why Adam had suddenly made such a heavy remark about life being unpredictable, Isidora agreed with him.

Tomorrow always brought surprises you could never imagine… or scares.

Isidora could not help sighing, her voice filled with endless wistfulness.

However, she had encountered too many shocking things lately, and her mental resilience had been tempered somewhat. She did not linger in her reflections for long before looking at Rookwood, who sat blankly on the ground after being told to stop.

"Should we let him continue?"

Although Rookwood had been detailed, he had provided almost none of the information they wanted. The problem was that they had no specific target in mind, so they could only make him speak as thoroughly as possible and search for anything useful.

Perhaps the information Rookwood had provided would be useful to Yog and the others, but Isidora and Adam’s goal was the study of Ancient Magic!

"No. It’s too late today. We can listen slowly tomorrow."

Adam reviewed the information Rookwood had revealed today. If their sole purpose was to deal with the goblins and study Ancient Magic, then Rookwood’s information was indeed rather inefficient. But Adam’s attention covered a broader range.

For example, the Ashwinders Rookwood had mentioned… Poachers in this era actually had an organization? And why were goblins colluding with poachers too?

Adam recalled the controlled Fire Dragons and trolls Yog had mentioned and came up with a few ideas, though that was not the important part.

Those wicked Dark wizards and poachers were ready-made test subjects! And they actually dared to have fixed hideouts. They really did not take Adam, partner of justice, Reed seriously.

The poachers they had encountered by chance in the Forbidden Forest turned out to be a huge organization. Isidora’s future supply of test subjects could finally be sustained.

As for Adam himself, he did not need much. He had the Twin Card, and Little Barty alone was enough. Mainly, he did not want to expose the Twin Card’s true power to too many people.

To Adam, the Twin Card’s true power was something that needed even greater secrecy than time magic. Time magic had many restrictions, but the Twin Card had none. It could duplicate almost anything, even people, endlessly and at virtually no cost.

For Adam, that cost was merely a little casting time. No one would object if he said it had no cost at all.

Under the influence of the Twin Card, the world’s entire system of value would be thrown into turmoil, and morality and ethics would seem ready to collapse. Anyone who thought deeply about it would be seized by immense fear.

Given Adam’s current level of trust in Isidora, it was enough for her to know that he could pull people from different timelines and parallel worlds.

After resting for a night, Yog and Sebastian returned to Hogsmeade the next day.

"Can we really find them here?"

Sebastian could not help asking Yog.

"I’m not sure either. We forgot to leave any contact information yesterday… Should we try sending them a letter by owl?"

Yog suggested. Wizards’ owls seemed able to deliver letters without knowing the recipient’s location.

"Good idea… If we can’t find them this morning, we’ll try writing a letter."

Sebastian nodded, suppressing the urgency in his heart.

"I suggest you don’t do that."

The two froze. Turning around, they found Adam standing behind them and hurriedly faced him.

"Why are you here?"

"Interesting question. Weren’t you waiting for me?"

Adam’s counterquestion caught Yog off guard. He had only come here to try his luck because he had no other choice.

"Uh, it’s good that we found you. Where’s Isidora?"

"She has her own research. She’s usually quite busy."

Adam had already completed his research into using Ancient Magic to finely process negative emotions. The only remaining step was seeing whether Isidora could reproduce those results using Ancient Magic alone.

Having witnessed Adam’s success with her own eyes, Isidora was now practically bursting with drive.

"Back to what we were discussing, owls can’t find the place where we conduct our research, so I’ll leave you a way to contact me."

Adam handed over two pieces of parchment.

"This is…?"

"My creation. If you write on this parchment, it’ll appear on my side as well. Once I see it, I’ll reply on it."

A hint of pride appeared in Adam’s expression. This had not been made using the Creation Card, but was an alchemical item he had created through his own magical and alchemical knowledge. He had also incorporated the results of his research into Ancient Magic, and he had only recently finished it.

Much of the inspiration for it had come from the first advanced magical item Adam had studied—Voldemort’s diary Horcrux. It was more immediate than an owl, while offering more flexibility than the Two-Way Mirror when instant communication was not possible. If necessary, it could even support multiple people talking at once.

Once he returned to his own era, he could make a group chat for the people in his dormitory. He had not heard anything from Klon in a long time. Who knew which remote mountain forest that guy had run off to this time?

"Alright, after spending the night, it looks like you two have a lot to discuss with me."

Adam’s words drew their attention away from the parchment and back to him.

"Let’s find somewhere to eat and talk."
