Alien Technology
"I agree to establish the Sky Sword Bureau."
Pierce rose to his feet, interrupting Tony and Nick Fury’s argument and taking Nick Fury’s side.
As the former Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.—and, of course, as a high-ranking Hydra infiltrator—Pierce naturally worked for his own interests and Hydra’s interests.
Damn it, he just did not know when that bastard Nick Fury had gotten involved with alien forces and come up with this Sky Sword Bureau plan.
He had not known any of this!
It left Pierce extremely irritated. S.H.I.E.L.D. had long since been infiltrated by Hydra until it was riddled with holes. He had thought S.H.I.E.L.D. no longer had any secrets from Hydra. Even the Avengers Initiative that Nick Fury had carried out in secret had been infiltrated by Hydra.
Yet just after the Avengers had suffered a setback, Nick Fury had come up with a Sky Sword Bureau?
Pierce was very unhappy about that. Therefore, in order to continue planting infiltrators within it, he naturally sided with Nick Fury.
Of course, more importantly, would not the technology acquired by S.H.I.E.L.D. ultimately become Hydra’s technology as well?
Once you negotiated with aliens and obtained advanced technology, would you not make copies and deliver them into Hydra’s hands in the end?
In short, taking Nick Fury’s side was definitely the right move!
"I agree!"
Pierce’s declaration was like a signal. One after another, nearly everyone voiced support for the proposal.
After all, how could these grand lords of America tolerate China standing above them?
They had dominated Earth for decades, yet in just the past few years, China’s power had become capable of easily crushing America beneath its feet. How could people accustomed to standing above all others possibly accept that?
"Wait. Since we’re establishing a military organization to protect Earth, the Sky Sword Bureau should be built by the American military!"
General Ross frowned and slapped the table, speaking with clear displeasure.
General Ross was an old fox. He naturally knew how much potential the Sky Sword Bureau would have in the future. It would lack neither funding nor technology, so the military wanted a piece of it too. As long as they could seize control of the Sky Sword Bureau, they would have endless funding and high technology in the future.
By then, well, with alien technology, he would surely be able to thoroughly research the Hulk’s abilities!
That was right. Even now, General Ross remained obsessed with the Hulk’s power.
"First of all, it is my S.H.I.E.L.D. that has connections with alien races." Nick Fury looked calmly at General Ross. "Why do you think they are willing to share technology with us?"
Was it not because they were familiar with S.H.I.E.L.D.? If they did not have ties with Nick Fury, would the Skrulls be willing to cooperate with humans on Earth and establish the Sky Sword Bureau?
Moreover, the person leading the Sky Sword Bureau was Captain Marvel.
Without all this, the Skrulls would have long since left to find another planet to live on. Who would be willing to get involved in all sorts of chaotic wars?
"Besides, does your military have the money?"
"…"
Fine, that was the most important reason. What was there to say if they had no money?
America’s military had the highest annual military budget in the world, but where did that money really come from? Did it not come from Congress?
The American military had always been nothing more than a blade in the hands of America’s capital tycoons. They might stir up trouble all over Earth, but it was those capitalists who paid to keep them alive. If they were asked to provide extra money to establish the Sky Sword Bureau, did they have it?
So, after hearing that, General Ross fell silent. He did not dare say anything more. If a conflict broke out and Congress cut his already "limited" military budget again, General Ross would have nowhere to cry.
"But even S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn’t have that much money…"
General Ross looked helpless. Though he gave up competing with S.H.I.E.L.D. for the prized Sky Sword Bureau, he could not resist trying to needle them.
"The money needed for even a single spaceship must be unimaginable, right?"
"That need not concern General Ross." Nick Fury replied calmly. "S.H.I.E.L.D. is an international organization. Europe will certainly be able to provide quite a bit of money. After all, no one wants to see an Eastern nation dominate alone."
Excellent. The reasoning was more than sufficient. European nations, like America, certainly did not want to see China dominate alone, so it would be easy to squeeze some funding out of them.
As always, the "China threat theory" was simply too useful. As long as they brought it up and America applied some pressure, it would be easy to extract a round of funding.
"I agree as well. I am willing to provide the Sky Sword Bureau with $100 billion in funding, but I hope Hammer Industries can become the Sky Sword Bureau’s weapons supplier."
As though he had spotted a path to riches, Justin Hammer stood up as well and spoke excitedly.
"…"
Everyone was speechless. Did he not have any self-awareness about the weapons his company produced?
Was their industrial capability not known for producing industrial garbage?
The Sky Sword Bureau was an organization created to deal with future space crises. Would using their weapons not be setting people up for disaster?
Besides, what weapons did Hammer Industries have that were worth mentioning? Child-sized AR-15s? Or child-sized Gatling guns?
"No problem." However, to everyone’s surprise, Nick Fury agreed without any hesitation, leaving the others even more speechless.
Nick Fury, had his brain been caught in a door?
"The Sky Sword Bureau will provide you with weapon blueprints. Hammer Industries only needs to manufacture the weapons according to the designs. That should not be a problem, right?"
Perhaps sensing everyone’s strange stares, Nick Fury offered an explanation.
Although Hammer Industries was rather incompetent, with blueprints provided directly to them, their products should not turn out too badly, right?
"Haha, thank you so much!"
Justin Hammer was so excited he was practically about to jump. Wearing a provocative, smug expression, he looked at Tony Stark.
"…"
Tony was speechless. He had stopped making weapons long ago, so why was Justin Hammer showing off to him?
Still, it seemed America truly was beyond saving. He had thought that perhaps S.H.I.E.L.D.’s establishment of the Sky Sword Bureau might bring some improvement, but who would have expected them to choose Hammer Industries as their weapons supplier?
What the hell was wrong with their brains!
"Now doesn’t seem to be the time to discuss this, does it?"
After remaining silent for a while, Tony ignored Justin Hammer and looked at Nick Fury. "Now isn’t the time to consider these things. First, think about how to compensate China. China isn’t easy to provoke now. Whatever the reason, it is an indisputable fact that the American military launched a nuclear missile at the Space Force."
