#217

Allen Picked Up a Calico Cosmic Beast

Seattle was in the height of tourist season.

Beautiful women from every country wandered the streets alone, waiting for their temporary Mr. Right.

As a result, the hotel business boomed during peak season.

Paired-off men and women spent brief, sweet moments together in hotels before going their separate ways.

Ah…

Ah…

Ah…

Inside a hotel room.

At the same moment, three horrified screams rang out.

On the bed, a portly middle-aged man clutched the white sheets in terror as he groped a slender American woman, staring at the unfamiliar man who had appeared out of thin air beside the bed.

The middle-aged man came to his senses and demanded angrily, "What are you screaming for?"

At his age, he was already struggling to perform.

After being frightened, he went completely limp, and anger naturally rose in his heart.

A man could not be called incapable, especially when a professional hardware-softening engineer might be well-informed enough to laugh at his weakness.

"You were screaming, so I screamed along with you. It made me seem more sociable."

Allen answered as if it were only natural, without the slightest embarrassment at having stumbled into the line of fire.

"You broke in illegally. I’ll call the police and have you arrested, you damn lunatic," the middle-aged white man threatened in fury and embarrassment.

Heh…

Allen stuck out his tongue and said smugly, "Mundo wants to marry Knull whenever Mundo wants."

"…"

The woman seeking true love warned in panic, "Holy shit, I think he’s mentally ill."

There were far too many mentally ill people in America.

The people she and her companions encountered most often were violent drug addicts who had damaged their brains. If they angered him and lost their lives, that would be a completely pointless disaster.

After all, she had worked so hard to immigrate to the beacon of civilization. How could she accept dying for no reason before enjoying its advanced benefits?

"Shit, so you two are conducting a transaction of love," Allen said righteously.

Seeing their age gap and the revealing clothes scattered across the floor, Allen immediately recalled the adult videos he had only seen in the domestic section.

"You two make me feel ashamed."

With that, Allen turned and strode out of the room.

The two of them immediately let out relieved breaths.

The middle-aged man said he would call the police, but he might not truly have wanted to.

American cops were notoriously rigid-minded. He had seen it firsthand, and they would probably throw both of them into the station for solicitation.

Then he would have to call his family to bail him out. That would be utterly humiliating.

Besides, the streetwalkers wandering the streets were afraid of getting into trouble because of their illegal immigrant status. There were far too many cases of them turning around and making false accusations.

"Do you still need to continue?" the woman asked calmly.

"I’m not in the mood anymore."

The more the middle-aged man thought about it, the angrier he became. He picked up the landline beside the bed and said furiously, "I’m filing a complaint against this damned hotel. They need to compensate me for emotional distress."

The streetwalker could tell that he was pretending to be concerned about something else, changing the subject to salvage his dignity.

As the saying went, seeing through it without exposing it was basic professional ethics.

Click!

Allen pushed the door open and came back, declaring righteously, "This mage just returned from saving the world. Seeing your shameful act has made me very unhappy, so I’m going to punish you."

He raised a hand and pointed at the middle-aged man, casting a spell on him.

Bang!

Then he slammed the door and left again.

The baffled middle-aged man could not help but look down.

The blanket was raised high, accompanied by a firmness he had never felt before.

The gloom in his heart was instantly swept away.

Allen left the hotel while invisible.

He walked into an alley, preparing to return to Arkham Asylum through a portal.

Because he had stayed on the mage timeline for too long, he had no idea how much time had passed on the original timeline.

The Comedy Troupe probably had not waited for him, so they had returned to Gotham City ahead of time.

Meow…

At that moment, a chubby, obese Calico Cat watched him silently from a window.

Its round face and immaculate fur made it look nothing like a stray.

"Kitty, come here."

Meow!

At Allen’s call, the Calico Cat jumped down beside his leg and repeatedly rubbed its head against his pant leg.

He picked up the plump Calico Cat and found neither a collar nor a tag.

Clearly, it was not someone’s pet.

After all, in America, pets could sometimes be worth more than human lives. Abandoning one could even result in criminal penalties.

"Kitty, you’re my pet cat from now on."

Having picked up a pet while out, Allen happily adopted it.

With a wave of his hand, a portal formed, revealing the activity room of Arkham Asylum on the other side.

The criminals were stunned at the sight of the portal.

Quite a few quick-eyed criminals tried to use the opportunity to escape the asylum.

What met them, however, was Allen’s size-41 shoe sole, and he stepped through the portal to return home.

In the deserted alley.

At the window where the Calico Cat had been sitting, a figure had appeared, staring at the spot where Allen vanished.

"Steve, this isn’t the time to meet him. Now that we’ve sent away the Calico Cosmic Beast, it’s time to return to the Quantum Realm."

The symbiote-covered Captain America turned to look at his wife Peggy and could not help teasing, "That purple symbiote really shows off your figure today."

The symbiote peeled back from Steve’s head, revealing a face that had remained youthful.

Carter walked over gracefully and rolled her eyes with mature charm. "Stop having dirty thoughts. Do you really want to build a symbiote family?"

"To preserve the peace of the multiverse, what would a little sacrifice from me matter?"

"…"

Steve rubbed Carter’s waist, and their bodies continuously shrank in an instant as they returned to the Iron Curtain Empire’s headquarters in the Quantum Realm.

Looking at the familiar faces one by one.

Allen greeted them enthusiastically, "Guys, I’m back. Did you miss me?"

Boo…

Everyone answered with a chorus of disdainful boos.

At Arkham Asylum, Allen had practically no presence. Most of the criminals had not even noticed that someone was missing.

They ate when they should eat, drank when they should drink, and lived their days as usual.

Only when they saw him did they remember there was such a person.

"Little Green."

"What is it?"

Among the criminal patients, Lillian was the most unusual. She had always liked quietly reading books.

"Let me tell you…"

Allen said animatedly, "This time, I traveled back five hundred years and met the Sorcerer Supreme, The Ancient One. We fought side by side and resolved a crisis from the multidimensional realms. You know Kamar-Taj, right? The sacred ground of mages. A whole group of people insisted on making me the Sorcerer Supreme. It was so embarrassing, so I decisively turned them down."

"And then?"

Lillian closed her book and quietly listened to Allen boast.

"Then I came back. Back then, the New Continent didn’t even have America yet. It was terribly uncomfortable to live there."

"Oh…"

Lillian responded blandly and reopened her botany textbook.

"You must be jealous of me. You’re deliberately acting indifferent to hide what you really think," Allen said with a scrutinizing expression.

"Mm… I’m jealous," Lillian casually humored him without even raising her head.

"Women really are a species skilled at jealousy."

Holding the Calico Cat, Allen said contentedly, "I need to ask the Comedy Troupe about Gotham’s recent situation. Without me holding down the fort, Batsy definitely can’t handle things. It’s truly exhausting."

Lillian helplessly rolled her eyes at Allen’s retreating back.

Without him, Gotham City had been much more peaceful.
