#285
Allen Takes On the Lantern Corps Alone
So far, Allen had collected a total of eight Lantern Rings.
Including the Sinestro Corps Ring besides the seven-spectrum Lantern Rings, there were eight in total.
However, the Green Lantern Ring was inside Sanhua’s stomach.
Of course, Allen did not care much about the Green Lantern Ring, since its abilities overlapped with the Sinestro Corps Ring.
Looking at the six Lantern Rings in his hand, an idea for reforging them had already formed in his mind.
The Sinestro Corps Ring was not under consideration. This special Lantern Ring was practically comparable to a divine artifact, not something Allen could toss back into the furnace and reforge at his current level.
Besides, its effects and abilities were already perfect.
Stroking his chin, Allen pondered, "I have Thor’s godhood. I should be able to summon dimensional creatures at the Sorcerer Supreme level."
Based on his own base attributes, Phantom Crown Level was the limit.
But if the power of godhood served as the foundation, then no matter how one calculated it, the spell’s effect would be at the Sorcerer Supreme level.
That was precisely why Allen wanted to summon Mjolnir.
Lantern Rings only at the Phantom Crown mage level were simply too low-grade.
After all, the Lantern Beasts wandering beyond the real universe were definitely Dimensional Lord level. Otherwise, they could not possibly provide the energy required by so many Lanterns.
"I’ll capture dimensional creatures, make contracts with them, and use them as Lantern Beasts to siphon mana. That’s a genius-level bald-brain idea."
Allen could not help praising himself, then recalled, "Come to think of it, Hellhound is also my contracted creature. I wonder if he’s been born yet. I’ll summon him in Gotham later."
Hellhound was tied to his own spell anchor. On the main timeline, it was difficult to encounter an opponent who could make Allen go all out, so he had never gotten in touch with him.
Smack!
He slapped the ground with one hand.
Streams of thunderous divine power traced out a summoning array.
Allen gripped the hammer tightly, slipped into invisibility, and waited quietly for the summoned creature to appear.
Ripples spread across the center of the summoning array, like a stone dropping into a calm lake.
A lion covered in crimson flames slowly rose from the array.
Roar…
"Who summoned the great Bloodflame Lion King? If you cannot offer a satisfactory sacrifice, I will tear you into—"
Thud!
A dull sound rang out.
The Bloodflame Lion King rolled his eyes back and collapsed unconscious.
Meanwhile, Allen stood beside him with Mjolnir raised, sizing up the summoned creature from top to bottom with a sly grin.
"A big lion. Looks pretty good."
Thud!
He lifted the Bloodflame Lion King by both hind legs and dragged him out of the summoning array. To keep him from waking up midway, Allen thoughtfully gave him another knock.
A fist-sized lump immediately swelled on the lion king’s head.
After looking around, Allen spotted a forest nearby. He dragged the Bloodflame Lion King into the woods, covered him with branches for concealment, then happily returned to continue the summoning ritual.
He injected divine power into the summoning array.
Then he immediately vanished again.
Before long, a snow-white nine-tailed fox slowly rose from the center of the array. Pink magical streams swirled around her body, and she looked around with remarkably humanlike eyes, confusion filling her gaze as she spoke, "Summoner, please reveal yourself. I am Fox Immortal Jiuniang’er, and I do not casually accept summo—"
Thud!
Thud! Thud!
"Why is there a freebie vixen?"
Tilting his head, Allen thought the nine-tailed fox looked exactly like the fox spirits in Eastern myths that sucked away people’s vital essence.
For safety’s sake, he gave her two more hammer blows to make sure she was deeply asleep.
"I get it now."
Picking his nose, Allen suddenly realized, "Marvel’s editors must have run out of things to draw, so they copied Eastern mythology again. How shameless."
He dragged Fox Immortal Jiuniang’er into the woods and covered her with branches so she would not catch a cold while sleeping.
Returning to the summoning array, Allen asked expectantly, "What kind of thing will I summon this time?"
Repeating the previous steps, the summoning array responded again in no time.
This time, it was a divine bird covered in brilliant golden flames. It raised its proud head and looked toward Allen, who was crouched nearby.
"Human, did you summon me, the divine descendant Sun Luan?"
The intense heat radiating from Sun Luan inadvertently broke Allen’s invisibility.
"I have a question I’d like to ask."
Allen awkwardly stepped forward.
Sun Luan asked warily, "What are you planning to do with that hammer in your hand?"
"I’m a repairman. It’s perfectly reasonable for me to carry a hammer," Allen argued, his eyes darting away.
"Is repairman a specialized profession among mages?"
Thud!
Instead of an answer, she received a hammer blow.
To be honest, Sun Luan looked much kinder. Perhaps because she was a divine descendant, she seemed exceptionally well-bred.
However, in the spirit of fairness, justice, and rigor, Allen treated all dimensional creatures equally.
"Lowly human, I am the Greedy Hydra—"
Thud!
"I am the Abyssal Despair Ao. Who summoned this king—"
Thud!
"The Sin Executioner has answered the summons—"
Thud!
For the next three dimensional creatures, Allen used the same method and lightly knocked them into dreamland.
Lined up in a row, they perfectly corresponded to the six Lantern Rings’ Lantern Beasts.
Among them, the Sin Executioner had a sack over his head and all kinds of torture tools hanging from his body, looking just like a demon jailer from hell who carried out brutal punishments.
"Shit, the sack is natural."
Allen had wanted to lift the sack and see his true face, only to discover that this was simply what he looked like.
Judging from their names, one could roughly tell the abilities of the six dimensional creatures.
"Bloodflame Lion King is bright red, so he’ll pair nicely with the Red Lantern Ring."
"Sun Luan is golden, so she suits the Yellow Lantern Ring perfectly."
"Greedy Hydra is definitely for the greedy Orange Lantern."
"The Sin Executioner has so many torture tools, which fits the compassionate Blue Lantern."
"Abyssal Despair Ao looks like both a dog and a tiger, so he’s perfect for the hopeful Indigo Lantern."
Finally, Allen looked at Fox Immortal Jiuniang’er. The only one left was the love-themed Violet Lantern.
Allen touched the pink magical streams swirling around her body. His eyes immediately glowed pink, his gaze turned hazy, and he looked shyly at Jiuniang’er as he shamelessly said, "How about we do it while it’s hot?"
Crackle…
A strand of lightning flashed from Mjolnir, clearing away his muddled, lustful thoughts.
Slap! Slap!
Coming back to his senses, Allen slapped himself twice and reproached himself angrily, "You beast. You’d even lay a hand on a fox. Are you still human?"
"Still, that freebie vixen does look rather pretty."
Slap! Slap!
He slapped himself twice again.
Allen said firmly, "Damn freebie vixen. Just like the Violet Lantern Ring, she really is shameless."
In myths, nine-tailed foxes excelled at charm spells, and the magical streams surrounding her body had precisely that kind of effect.
However, he now faced a new problem.
How was he supposed to stuff six Sorcerer Supreme-level dimensional creatures into Lantern Rings?
Strictly speaking, Lantern Beasts were manifestations of laws. Emotions themselves had no reference form, so they were not bound by the limitations of space or matter.
Therefore, stuffing them into Lantern Rings or Lantern Furnaces was unrealistic.
"I’ve got it."
A flash of inspiration struck Allen, and he muttered, "I can carve anchor markers into their souls, then use the Lantern Rings as mediums to borrow their power."
In truth, it would be stealing power.
Without Mjolnir at his side, Allen siphoning mana from six dimensional creatures would be no different from courting death.
His own strength was not enough to contend with Sorcerer Supremes.
But by storing the stolen power inside the Lantern Rings, Allen could avoid the risk of backlash when using them.
Then the question became: why was he not worried that Hellhound might turn on his master?
The reason was simple. Hellhound had been summoned during his infancy. Moreover, the soul-level imprint had deepened continuously as he grew, leaving him unable to escape Allen’s clutches for life.
Allen did not have such control over Sorcerer Supreme-level dimensional creatures. It was uncertain who would be master and who would be servant.
Only after ascending to godhood could he enslave them with ease.
But once he had become a god, why would Allen even care about them?
Why go through so much trouble? He could just forge a set of divine artifact rings directly.
First, he reforged the Lantern Rings, simply merging the Lantern Furnaces and rings into one.
The original basic functions were preserved, while their core abilities depended on emotional magic and could only be reshaped according to the six targets’ respective attributes.
He worked for an entire day.
At last, it was complete.
The colors of the six Lantern Rings changed, matching the power characteristics of their respective hosts.
Once he was done, Allen drove away the six dimensional creatures like some scumbag.
The victims had never woken up from beginning to end.
When they woke again, they found themselves back in their respective dimensional domains. If not for the faint pain in their heads, they might have thought it had all been a bizarre dream.
From then on, they developed a baffling condition in which their power occasionally leaked away.
"Charm Pink Lantern Ring."
"Slaughter Blood Lantern Ring."
"Life Gold Lantern Ring."
"Greed Crimson Lantern Ring."
"Pain Silver Lantern Ring."
"Despair Gray Lantern Ring."
In one breath, he put all six Lantern Rings on the index, middle, and ring fingers of both hands.
"Don’t I look insanely handsome?"
Allen examined his new equipment and could not help sighing. "Lantern Rings all have oaths. Should I make one up for each of them to look more badass?"
His cultural level was limited, but he racked his brains and came up with oaths he felt pretty good about.
"Pink Lantern Ring, makes one horny and surging. Blood Lantern Ring, makes one’s blood boil. Gold Lantern Ring, life is all about hoo-ha. Crimson Lantern Ring, greed twists the face. Silver Lantern Ring, pain comes with pleasure. Gray Lantern Ring, despair is fifty shades of gray."
Allen said smugly, "Good poetry, good poetry. What fine poetry I compose. I truly am an abstract poet."
Given Allen’s personality, he naturally had to show off his achievements.
The binding functions of the Red Lantern, Blue Lantern, and Indigo Lantern remained intact. He had deliberately kept them to lure the enemy in.
"Using brand-new Lantern Rings to defeat old models… I wonder what their expressions will be like. Hehehe…"
The Red Lantern oath.
"Scalding blood burns with crimson rage."
"Drawn from bones not yet cold."
"Deep hatred sears the lungs and gut."
"Forging your road to the underworld!"
The Blue Lantern oath.
"On days of fear, through nights of pain."
"Blazing fire drives the bitter cold away."
"All are lost to war’s calamity."
"Look to the stars."
"The light of hope shall never fade!"
The Indigo Lantern oath.
"Compassion is with you."
Once he finished speaking, Allen waited quietly for the Spectrum Corps.
The six reforged Lantern Rings belonged entirely to Allen now. Even the Lantern Ring leaders could not strip them away.
A few breaths later.
The space in every direction began to distort as seven-colored light seeped through.
Lanterns from every Corps had, for the first time in history, united against a common enemy.
Because the Indigo Lanterns of hope could suppress the flaws of the Red Lanterns and Orange Lanterns, no infighting broke out between them.
At once, the various Corps sealed off the entire area. They had clearly come prepared.
With the entire Indigo Lantern Corps responsible for transportation, they had smoothly gathered all the Lanterns.
Each Corps formed a perimeter to encircle and lock down the airspace, while the Indigo Lanterns even warped space to prevent Allen from escaping with spatial magic.
"His rings!?"
Larfleeze cried out in alarm, his eyes filled with greed.
His original goal had been to seize rings of every color. When he saw that the ring on Allen’s hand was completely different in color, an overwhelming desire to possess it surged within him.
The summoned Orange Lantern Ghosts seemed to sense their master’s urgency and became restlessly agitated.
"Kill!"
Atrocitus, leader of the Crimson Lanterns, struck first. The intense red light foretold burning fury as a terrifying aura erupted from his entire body.
Allen raised the Blood Lantern Ring on his right index finger.
He pointed through the air.
A terrifying crimson flame shot forth.
The Bloodflame Lion King’s blood-devouring fire grew stronger the more slaughter there was, its power increasing as it consumed blood and burned.
"Hot, hot, hot… it’s burning me to death."
Halfway through his charge, Atrocitus burst into flames and frantically slapped at himself, trying to put them out.
However, it was useless. The flames clung to him like maggots in the bone, impossible to shake off.
"Together!"
The next moment, all the leaders attacked at once.
Allen raised both hands, fully displaying the power of six Lantern Rings.
Pink streams of light swirled around him, isolating Gillian’s violet light.
The Gold Lantern Ring manifested a dazzling golden divine luan that charged at Sinestro.
The Crimson Lantern Ring manifested a Hydra that coiled around Larfleeze.
The Silver Lantern Ring fired a beam of silver light that transformed into a set of restraints around the Azure Maiden, pinning her in place. Pain immediately appeared on her face.
The Gray Lantern Ring manifested a murderer radiating an aura of despair and sent it charging toward Saint Walker.
"Suppress!"
Of everyone present, only Abin Sur moved without obstruction, manifesting a massive meteor and hurling it at his target.
Allen did not care in the slightest. With his hands on his hips and a calm, composed expression, he gave a wicked smile. "I’ll take it!"
He thrust his waist forward.
A Golden Hoop Staff manifested from green light and extended without end.
Boom!
In an instant, it shattered the meteor and shot straight toward Abin Sur’s face.
Pfft…
It struck his cheek solidly. Abin Sur had no time to dodge and was sent flying sideways by the Golden Hoop Staff, a glistening strand of drool trailing uncontrollably from his mouth.
Hiss!
Defeating the Green Lantern leader in a single move was simply a scene fit to be nailed to the pillar of shame.
His ability to contend against seven leaders in one exchange was beyond belief.
"Everyone, attack."
Realizing the severity of the situation,
the various Corps no longer cared about fair play and simply had every Lantern attack together to suppress him.
Seven rays of light swept toward Allen like a meteor shower, covering the sky and earth as they displayed the core abilities of different Lantern Rings.
"Lights out!"
The Darkness Program activated.
In an instant, a point of blackness expanded infinitely.
The colors of the seven-color spectrum fell into the Dark Dimension like mud oxen entering the sea, vanishing without result.
Darkness then spread rapidly, swallowing The Lantern Corps in no time.
Within the Dark Dimension, one could not see one’s own hand before one’s face. It absorbed all light, rendering every Lantern Ring nothing more than decoration.
The Sinestro Corps Ring was the natural nemesis of spectrum Lantern Rings.
"What kind of power is this?"
"Why can’t I draw on the power of my Lantern Ring?"
"How could a power capable of countering every Lantern Ring exist in this world?!"
"…"
All the Lanterns fell into panic. Even the Yellow Lantern Corps felt fear in their hearts.
"Lin, Bing, Dou, Zhe…"
Allen enunciated each word slowly, his voice clearly echoing beside everyone’s ears.
Only Gillian suddenly shuddered. Her body tensed on instinct as both hands reflexively clamped tightly over her backside.
