Aman shows his power
Inside the Nanli Valley, a luxurious carriage pulled by a Demonic Beast ox was slowly moving forward, surrounded by over a dozen guards.
As they walked, the carriage suddenly stopped. Inside the carriage, Xia Changfeng frowned and asked displeasedly, "Why have we stopped?"
Xia Changfeng's return to Great Xia this time was partly to prepare for marrying the Third Princess of Phoenix, and partly because the white-clad man had ordered him to prepare for something even more important.
That was why Xia Changfeng had ordered everyone to travel day and night, taking only a day and a night to reach the Nanli Valley.
After crossing the valley and traveling for another half a day, they would be within the borders of Great Xia. Normally, riding a flying Demonic Beast would be faster.
However, with so many people, they could not all travel that way. Furthermore, flying Demonic Beasts were too big of a target; if they happened to attract a more powerful flock of flying Demonic Beasts, they would be dead for sure, without even a chance to escape.
"Reporting to the Prince, someone is blocking the road," a person said outside the carriage.
"Who is it?" Xia Changfeng was stunned.
"An acquaintance of yours."
Xia Changfeng frowned. He stepped out of the carriage and saw that the path ahead was a narrow valley entrance, and their carriage had to pass through there.
Standing quietly at the narrow entrance were two figures, one in front of the other. When he saw the figure in front, Xia Changfeng smiled, but a hint of gloom flashed in his eyes.
"Long Chen, you are waiting here for this Prince—could it be to bid me farewell?" Xia Changfeng waved his hand, and the dozen or so guards around him immediately dispersed, quickly surrounding Long Chen and A'Man in a semi-circle.
Long Chen looked at Xia Changfeng and nodded, saying, "That's right. Seeing that you are having a very difficult journey, I wanted to go the extra mile and see you all the way to your destination."
"Don't tell me that the two of you are here just to assassinate this Prince." Xia Changfeng narrowed his eyes and sneered.
"This Prince? That title actually suits you quite well. However, the word 'assassinate' is inappropriate; we are here to slaughter people."
Long Chen shrugged, but as soon as he finished speaking, his expression turned cold, and he pointed at Xia Changfeng:
"Xia Changfeng, I'm not going to play those boring word games with you. You bastard, was it you who did something to Chu Yao?"
Thinking of Chu Yao's plight, Long Chen's eyes were filled with killing intent. Now that Chu Yao was essentially his woman, he could not tolerate such things.
At the same time, Chu Yao's encounter reminded him of his own situation; if this matter had anything to do with Xia Changfeng, then he was the best Breakthrough point to find the culprit.
Xia Changfeng's expression changed slightly. Clearly, Long Chen's words had taken him by surprise, and his gaze turned cold as he said, "It seems you know quite a lot. But it doesn't matter; after all, it makes no difference if a dead person knows more."
Xia Changfeng's words were ambiguous and did not give Long Chen the answer he wanted, but one thing was certain: Xia Changfeng definitely knew a lot of things.
Long Chen looked at Xia Changfeng and smiled. He smiled very happily; perhaps from Xia Changfeng's mouth, he could learn all the secrets.
"Long Chen, I originally thought you were very smart, but today I realized I was wrong. However, I am very happy that I was wrong. To dare to come and assassinate me with just two people—I don't know whether I should admire your courage or mock your stupidity."
"It seems that after killing Huang Shang that time, your desires expanded infinitely, and you thought you were invincible under the heavens?"
"Wang Mang, haven't you always complained that I didn't give you a chance to show yourself? Now the chance has come. Go and cut off the head of this arrogant brat." Xia Changfeng said disdainfully.
Xia Changfeng's last sentence was directed at a person beside him. The man called Wang Mang was extremely burly, with a complexion as dark as charcoal.
Upon hearing Xia Changfeng's order, he grinned, revealing a mouthful of ghastly white teeth, like a bloodthirsty beast.
That Wang Mang was also one of Xia Changfeng's guards. Like Huang Shang, he was one of Xia Changfeng's secret weapons.
It was just that Huang Shang was in the open, while he was in the shadows. People who knew Xia Changfeng all knew of Huang Shang, but no one knew about this dark-skinned guard.
"Don't worry, Master. I can chop him into mincemeat within ten Moves."
Wang Mang laughed loudly and took a step forward.
Clang!
With the sound of a sharp blade being unsheathed, a broadsword appeared in Wang Mang's hand, causing Long Chen's eyes to narrow slightly.
Usually, a broadsword is only slightly wider than an ordinary longsword, about four fingers wide. Because of the increased width, the thickness is adjusted accordingly, making a broadsword much heavier than an average longsword.
Generally, cultivators who can use broadswords are people with immense strength and astonishing wrist power. The broadsword in the hands of the Wang Mang before him was shockingly seven inches wide.
With a width of seven inches and a thickness of nearly three inches, the weight of this broadsword was astonishing. Before the broadsword arrived, a terrifying gust of wind whistled in, the air swirling along with it as it slashed down toward Long Chen.
"You are mine."
Long Chen did not Move. Behind him, A'Man let out a loud shout, and the mountain-splitting giant axe in his hand tore through space, carrying a whistling golden light as it met Wang Mang's longsword.
"Clang!"
Sparks flew everywhere, and at the same time, everyone felt their eardrums roaring. Some of the guards felt a sharp pain in their eardrums, and blood slowly flowed out; for a moment, they couldn't hear anything.
After the explosion, both figures retreated. A'Man took three steps back before stabilizing his stance.
As for Wang Mang, even though he tried his best to stabilize his figure, he still retreated more than three zhang, his two legs plowing two deep trenches into the ground.
After one strike, it was earth-shattering. The people on Xia Changfeng's side were all looking at the giant-like A'Man with shock.
Seeing the giant mountain-splitting axe in A'Man's hand, Xia Changfeng's pupils constricted. He recognized that giant axe—it was the big one he had seen in the auction house that weighed a terrifying three thousand jin.
Looking at A'Man's physique and his large hands, this giant battle axe was simply tailor-made for him; it didn't look the least bit cumbersome in his hands.
Xia Changfeng was shocked, but Wang Mang was even more shocked. He had been born with Divine Power, and the broadsword in his hand weighed over two thousand jin. Ever since he was equipped with this heavy weapon, among those of the same rank, very few people could survive three Moves from him.
Although they were both called secret weapons, even when Huang Shang unleashed his beast transformation, he couldn't survive ten Moves in Wang Mang's hands.
Yet today, he had actually been pushed back by a big fool who didn't show the slightest fluctuation of cultivation. While shocked, he was also filled with fury.
"Go to hell!"
Wang Mang let out an angry roar, and his whole body was suffused with blood energy. Originally, when dealing with Long Chen, he didn't want to show too much strength; preserving strength was always Xia Changfeng's style, and both he and Huang Shang had developed the habit.
But seeing this person who was actually a notch stronger than him in terms of strength, he became enraged. He absolutely would not allow such a person to exist.
"Hum!"
Wang Mang's longsword shook, and the space emitted a rumble. This time, the sound of the wind on the broadsword was even more shrill, like the Grim Reaper claiming a life.
Such a fierce attack was chilling. While Long Chen was shocked, he couldn't help but feel relieved.
Wang Mang was a strength-based warrior who didn't like too many combat techniques; his Moves were simple and direct, but his lethality was terrifying.
However, such an attack was most suitable for the simple-minded A'Man, because A'Man didn't understand what technique was at all.
"Boom!"
It was another violent collision. The terrifying airwaves produced by the violent impact sent the dead grass and mud on the ground flying everywhere.
If it were just dead grass and mud, that would be fine, but the key was that there were quite a few rocks on the ground. The flying rocks had immense force.
Because of the previous violent collision, the guards were no longer as sensitive to sound. As a result, one of them was struck directly in the head by a flying rock. The terrifying force punched a bloody hole right through his forehead, and he lay on the ground without a sound.
The others hurriedly retreated when they saw this. Such a battle was too terrifying; to die so inexplicably was truly too pathetic.
"Boom!" "Boom!" "Boom!"
Explosions rang out incessantly, and angry shouts never ceased. A broadsword and a giant axe kept colliding, sparks flying and explosions roaring, and even the earth trembled along with them.
Long Chen looked at A'Man, who was like a war god possessed, and a trace of excitement arose in his heart. A'Man had finally started to show his might.
Although his current power was not at all proportional to what he should be capable of, regardless, his own painstaking efforts had not been in vain.
However, this was also thanks to encountering Wang Mang. If he had encountered Huang Shang, A'Man probably wouldn't have lasted long.
First, A'Man didn't have any combat experience; all of his combat experience came from these past few days of hunting with Long Chen.
Second, A'Man didn't know how to attack. From the beginning until now, A'Man had only been blocking based on the opponent's attacks.
If A'Man were to attack, he would immediately expose his fatal weakness, but Wang Mang's frantic attacks at this moment had actually covered up A'Man's weakness.
If it had been someone like Huang Shang, he would have inevitably first probed out the enemy's weakness and then delivered a fatal blow.
But Wang Mang didn't know A'Man's background; otherwise, no matter how tough A'Man was, without any combat experience, he probably would have been defeated in a few Moves.
Seeing A'Man only defending and not attacking, while still having an excited expression on his face, Wang Mang couldn't help but be furious, thinking A'Man was toying with him, and his attacks became increasingly fierce.
In the blink of an eye, the two had fought for dozens of Moves. To Long Chen's surprise, A'Man's giant axe was becoming more and more proficient, not as stiff as it was at the beginning.
Long Chen had never taught A'Man any techniques for the battle axe, and even if he had, he might not have been able to teach him; the most important thing was that Long Chen himself didn't know either.
A'Man seemed to have a natural combat instinct; as the battle progressed, he was actually able to comprehend things on his own.
Just like his body, he didn't need to cultivate; he could automatically absorb the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi, just like a monster.
Seeing that A'Man had actually held on against Wang Mang's storm-like attacks, Long Chen couldn't help but secretly call himself lucky.
Wang Mang was unlucky to be restrained by a layman like A'Man. The broadsword in his hand was originally on the path of brute force, not seeking technique but seeking lethality, so the threat to A'Man was reduced to a minimum.
If it had been a technique-based expert, A'Man would have been defeated very quickly. Indeed, the world is truly wonderful; bringing A'Man out this time was the right choice.
Seeing that A'Man was temporarily not in danger, Long Chen didn't dare to waste time. Taking advantage of the fact that they were all intimidated by A'Man, he needed to hurry.
Looking at the shocked Xia Changfeng, Long Chen moved his feet, and his figure drifted out as he smashed down with a punch.
