An Ominous Premonition

Peter’s wishful thinking was ultimately shattered.

After carefully studying the documents, the S.H.I.E.L.D. experts even brought out instruments to analyze the age of the paper. In the end, they reached a conclusion: the contents of the file were genuine!

Peter’s parents were Hydra!

This also meant that S.H.I.E.L.D.’s operation to eliminate Hydra back then had not been completely successful. Some Hydra remnants had survived, and now they had begun to act again.

After hearing the news, Director Garrett immediately picked up the phone and instructed, "Rumlow, I need a team. You will lead it personally and go to the CIA to arrest the man named Thomas."

After hanging up, he said solemnly to Peter, "Peter, now that Hydra has resurfaced, we certainly won’t stand by and do nothing. S.H.I.E.L.D. will follow Thomas’s trail and investigate it to the end. No matter who is involved, S.H.I.E.L.D. will never back down. Even the President of the United States is no exception!"

Peter excitedly stood up and volunteered, "Director, is there anything you need me to do? If we get into a fight with Hydra, please make sure to call me!"

"Haha… Good man, Peter." Director Garrett laughed happily, looking at Peter with admiration.

"If we need you, I’ll call you. Captain America led the team that destroyed Hydra back then, so now it will be Thor leading the team to wipe Hydra out again! After this incident, I imagine Peter Parker’s name will be recorded in the history books."

Peter was still too naive. A few words from Director Garrett easily stirred up his emotions, and he excitedly imagined the wonderful prospect of having his name remembered in future textbooks. But less than half an hour later, his beautiful dream was shattered.

Crossbones Rumlow called back to report that they had arrived too late. Thomas had already disappeared. He must have been prepared in advance and fled after his failure.

"Wherever someone has passed, they leave traces behind. Although we didn’t catch Thomas, we’ll investigate his circle of contacts. We’ll definitely catch the fox by the tail." Director Garrett spoke confidently.

"Yeah, I believe S.H.I.E.L.D. can uproot Hydra completely." Infected by Director Garrett’s emotions, Peter was also filled with confidence about the future.

Since they did not need his help for the time being, Peter said goodbye and left S.H.I.E.L.D. He had not gone home the previous night. Although he had called, Uncle Ben and Aunt May had probably already begun to worry.

When he returned home, Aunt May was overjoyed to see him. After hugging him, she immediately began preparing a sumptuous lunch.

At the dining table, Uncle Ben asked about what had happened at work the previous night. After hesitating for a moment, Peter ultimately decided to tell them that his parents had been Hydra agents.

The news was simply too shocking. The two of them sat there dumbfounded, unable to say a word.

After a long while, Uncle Ben finally asked incredulously, "Are you sure all those documents are genuine? Could Hydra have used some advanced technology to forge them?"

Peter shook his head dejectedly. "S.H.I.E.L.D.’s experts already examined them carefully. They weren’t forged. Besides, even if Hydra had that kind of technology, there would be no reason to waste it on me."

Aunt May also sighed. "Richard and Mary often stayed in the laboratory and didn’t come home back then. We only thought they were conducting experiments. Now that I think about it, perhaps… sigh!"

The news completely ruined their appetite. The three of them ate the entire meal in a gloomy silence, and even the sumptuous dishes could not whet their appetites.

After eating, Aunt May went to the kitchen to wash the dishes. Peter and Uncle Ben sat on the sofa, each lost in thought, while a boring soap opera played on the television across from them.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang.

The two exchanged a glance. Peter got up and went to the door. Looking outside through the peephole, he saw two police officers standing there.

Peter opened the door, and one of the officers’ eyes lit up when he saw him. "Hey, it’s Thor! I’m a fan of yours. Could you give me an autograph?"

"Uh… Sure."

Peter was already used to carrying a pen with him. He took it out and signed the officer’s work notebook.

The officer happily turned around and was just about to leave when his companion grabbed him. Only then did he realize what he had forgotten. He turned back and asked, "Excuse me, do Ben Parker and May Parker live here?"

"Yes." Peter stepped aside to let them in and called inside, "Uncle, Aunt, they’re here for you."

After meeting Uncle Ben and Aunt May, the two officers first showed their badges and confirmed their identities before taking out an arrest warrant.

"Ben Parker, May Parker, we have been ordered to take you in for questioning. You have the right to remain silent…" The two officers rattled off a series of warnings before taking out their handcuffs and moving to arrest them.

"Wait!" Peter was startled and hurried forward to stop them. "Did you get the wrong people? What gives you the right to arrest them?"

The officer looked at the arrest warrant again and nodded. "Ben Parker and May Parker. There’s no mistake. You can have your lawyer inquire about the specific reason at the police station."

Peter was furious and horrified. He was about to detain them first and worry about the consequences later. The two ordinary police officers would have been completely powerless to resist him. Fortunately, Uncle Ben stopped him in time.

"Peter, the greater your strength, the more important it is that you don’t lose yourself. You must remember: with great power comes great responsibility. We’ll go with them to the police station first. Have a lawyer come over afterward. Whatever misunderstanding there is, it will naturally be cleared up then."

Peter had no choice but watch helplessly as Uncle Ben and Aunt May were handcuffed and taken into the police car.

After watching the police car drive away, Peter immediately called a lawyer friend and asked him to go to the police station to find out what was happening. Then he called Gwen and asked her to use her father’s connections to investigate the reason and arrange for them to receive some consideration.

After taking care of everything, he hurriedly hailed a taxi to the police station.

Once the lawyer arrived, he completed the visitation procedures and entered the police station to learn what had happened. Gwen’s call also came through.

"Peter, my father asked the police station on your side. They’re only responsible for assisting with the arrests. The actual interrogation has been handed over to S.H.I.E.L.D. They don’t know anything about the details. Aren’t you a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent? Ask your superior. He should know what’s going on."

"S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Peter was shocked. His head buzzed, and he nearly collapsed onto the floor. "Why would S.H.I.E.L.D. arrest Uncle Ben and Aunt May?"

An ominous premonition suddenly arose in Peter’s heart. Could it be… Uncle Ben and Aunt May are Hydra agents too?
