Analyzing Magic
"Dr. Bruce, you don’t need to worry too much. To withstand the Hulk Serum’s transformation, one must have an exceptionally strong body, and ordinary people on Earth basically can’t meet that requirement."
Tony was relatively rational as he continued, "Blonsky was able to withstand the Hulk’s power because he had used the Super Soldier Serum. But there isn’t a second dose of that left now, so the chances of that monster appearing again are very low."
Tony had hit the mark.
S.H.I.E.L.D. had also been coveting the Hulk’s power in secret. Even the appearance of Abomination this time had their involvement behind it.
But precisely because of that, Abomination’s emergence had shown them just how difficult it was to obtain the Hulk’s power.
"Dr. Banner, I heard you went to Chen Mu’s industrial zone to do research? Tell me, what generation has Chen Mu’s armor reached now? How does it compare with mine?"
Highly competitive by nature, Tony Stark had also been keeping an eye on Chen Mu’s Kirin Armor.
He had previously used Jarvis to hack into S.H.I.E.L.D.’s network and learned that the Hulk had been defeated in the Amazon Jungle by more than a dozen warriors wearing Kirin Armor.
So, after seeing Dr. Bruce Banner, Tony was extremely curious. He desperately wanted to know which was stronger: his current armor or Chen Mu’s Kirin Armor.
"Uh, I’m not really sure…"
Bruce Banner scratched his head. Just as he was about to say something, a golden circle of light suddenly appeared beneath his feet again. Caught off guard, Bruce Banner fell straight through it. The circle vanished, leaving only a note where he had been standing.
"Dr. Banner has returned to where he belongs."
Tony was startled. The abruptly appearing portal was truly hard to believe. Looking at the note on the floor, he could not help reading its message aloud.
"So this is Chen Mu’s new technology? A spatial teleportation device?"
That was the only explanation he could come up with for what he had witnessed.
"Looks like I should visit Chen Mu’s industrial zone too. It seems he has even more good stuff!"
Tony had clearly mistaken the mage’s portal for Chen Mu’s technology.
However, if Chen Mu could come into contact with mages, he naturally had a chance to analyze Portal magic. By then, it would not be impossible to explain portals from a "scientific" perspective.
Perhaps in the near future, Chen Mu would be able to use technological means to cast magic.
"Sir, Dr. Bruce Banner has returned."
In Chen Mu’s office, Xu Jia had just taken Hawkeye and Black Widow away when Hongmeng’s voice rang out.
"He’s back?"
Chen Mu was startled, but after thinking of the mages’ abilities, he did not find it strange.
What left Chen Mu utterly confused was why Ancient One had sent Bruce Banner to America to fight Abomination, yet did not wish to appear before him.
Wasn’t Ancient One said to be Earth’s guardian, someone who assessed every unstable factor on the planet and eliminated threats before they could grow?
Moreover, Ancient One’s current duty was to resist invasions from other universes and dimensions. As a "transmigrator," Chen Mu should have looked like an outsider no matter how one saw it. Logically, with her deep research into time, she should have recognized it at a glance. He just did not know why she had never come to see him.
After all, during the few months since his arrival, Chen Mu had done quite a few things and already changed many aspects of this world.
It was truly strange that Ancient One had not come looking for him for tea.
"Let’s go take a look."
After thinking it over, Chen Mu prepared to go see Dr. Bruce Banner.
"Huh?"
Just as Chen Mu was about to leave, a golden portal appeared on the desk in front of him. Yes, on the desk. It was only a tiny portal, no larger than a palm. After a note fell out of it, it vanished.
"Teleportation Magic analysis in progress. Analysis level: 50%."
The system quickly detected the portal that had appeared not far from Chen Mu. But because it had not come into direct contact with it, and because it had disappeared so quickly, the Huaqiangbei System had only analyzed part of it, reaching an analysis level of 50%.
"So, as expected, in this world, magic is actually technology… Or rather, they’re fundamentally the same thing…"
Chen Mu fell silent as he looked at the system prompt.
A 50% analysis level of Teleportation Magic was not enough to allow Chen Mu to cast it.
Put simply, although the system had analyzed part of Teleportation Magic and given Chen Mu some related knowledge, he was only a half-baked amateur. There was no way he could cast it himself.
Besides, he did not have the magical artifact mages used to cast magic: a Sling Ring.
"With the analysis level below 100%, there’s no way to conduct research either."
Chen Mu looked helplessly at the 50% analysis level.
If only that portal had lasted a little longer…
That way, once the system had fully analyzed Portal magic, Chen Mu would be able to use it himself. If he then conducted research on it, perhaps he could cast all kinds of magic without magical artifacts.
Furthermore, after conducting research, he might be able to directly understand the essence of magic. With sufficient understanding, he could even use some kind of device to cast spells.
Once magic was completely mastered, it might be possible to combine it with machinery, just as Asgard had combined magic and technology, creating all sorts of magical weapons and tools. That would undoubtedly be a tremendous boost to China’s strength.
Perhaps China would become a second Asgard.
"But setting other spells aside, if I learn this magical portal and can use technology to deploy it, wouldn’t that mean China has effectively mastered the Bifrost?"
The reason Asgard could control the Ten Realms was not just its own immense strength. The Bifrost’s teleportation ability was also crucial.
The ability to rapidly teleport across the stars made such force projection a nightmare for every world!
Just imagine it: two worlds were at war, and Asgard directly used the Bifrost to send several powerful people on a decapitation mission, killing the other side’s most important figures. That war would basically be over.
Not to mention that the Bifrost was not merely a teleportation device; it was also a planet-destroying weapon. Its existence was like Earth’s nuclear weapons, a terrifying weapon of deterrence!
So I had to find a way to learn Portal magic!
