Are You a Dragon?
"Was there really any need to make this so exaggerated?"
Noah stared speechlessly at the suitcase in his hand. Ms. Heifen had prepared it with everyday necessities for their trip to Asgard.
Honestly, Noah did not think he would need that many changes of clothes there, because he did not expect to stay for very long.
Besides, the suitcase in Noah’s hand had been enchanted with spatial folding!
In other words, its actual capacity was enormous. It was not easy to fill it up, yet Ms. Heifen had somehow crammed it completely full!
"Of course there was. Aside from your clothes, there are things I need as well!"
Ms. Heifen rolled her eyes at Noah. "Do you think a lady does not need to prepare anything? It seems I need to spend some time teaching you properly. You are nearly thirty and still do not have a girlfriend!"
"Come on, I’m still young, all right? Age is not much of an issue for mages! At my current level of magic, thirty is probably equivalent to around ten years old. Besides, I’m not even thirty yet!" Noah said with an eye roll.
As a mage, his lifespan had indeed been extended considerably.
With such a long lifespan, Noah had no plans to find a partner for the time being. Even if he did, he only intended to find another mage or someone similar.
Although Lin Yao’s research seemed to have made a qualitative breakthrough in the mysterious field of life, Noah cared deeply about one key point.
That was whether two people had anything in common. If they did not even share a common language, Noah felt being together would be unbearably miserable.
Besides, people with long lifespans did not seem to care much about whether they married at all. Just look at Dumbledore—sorry, he did have someone.
Thor would be a better example. That guy was several thousand years old and still single, was he not?
Well, although he had managed to pick up girls, he broke up with them after only a few years because they had nothing in common. So in the end, he still belonged among the singles.
Although Noah’s example was not particularly good, and if every mage thought like Noah, the magical world would sooner or later become a stagnant, lifeless pool.
Still, no one could do anything about Noah thinking that way. He was already a high-level Archmage and had the ability to make his own decisions.
Besides, Noah really was still young, and he did not have many thoughts about such matters for now.
"Fine, whatever you want."
Ms. Heifen knew Noah was telling the truth, so she had no intention of continuing the discussion.
To be fair, one thing Noah had said was indeed true: he was still young. Even without considering a mage’s lifespan, Noah was only twenty-eight, nearly twenty-nine.
After meeting up with Wong and bringing their luggage, the three of them went straight to Kamar-Taj through the Sanctum.
The Ancient One had already been waiting for them. When she saw Noah’s group arrive, she did not waste any words. She directly opened a portal and led them into a mysterious place!
"Is this Asgard?"
When Noah and the others stepped out of the portal, they were stunned by the sight before them.
Everything here seemed exceptionally peaceful and beautiful. Medieval architecture and technology beyond imagination blended together perfectly. Simply put, it gave them the illusion of being in a dream!
Asgard’s environment truly made Noah’s eyes light up. Aside from Middle-earth, this was the only place that had ever given him such a feeling.
Ms. Heifen was much the same. She, too, was awed by everything here. Perhaps only Wong was not particularly moved.
The Asgardian guards had noticed Noah and the others long ago, but they clearly recognized The Ancient One’s magic and did not behave unfriendly toward them.
On the contrary, they respectfully greeted The Ancient One. It was obvious that she was indeed very famous.
"Wait here for a moment. I will go explain the situation to All-Father Odin."
This was Asgard, after all. No matter how outstanding The Ancient One’s strength was, she still needed to show this respect.
Noah and the others understood the situation well enough. Naturally, they could not simply barge into Odin’s palace.
If they truly did that, not only would it embarrass The Ancient One, but the soldiers in ornate armor nearby were far more than mere decorations.
These soldiers were not weak, but through the abilities granted by the system, Noah could tell that they were only around Tier 5 to Tier 6.
This puzzled Noah somewhat, but after thinking it over, he roughly understood why.
Leaving aside the fact that soldiers stationed in the city were generally weaker, the most likely reason was that they had no motivation.
Just think about it. They were born as gods, possessed unimaginable lifespans, and their strength would not be too poor as they grew older. Under such circumstances, what motivation could they possibly have?
Honestly, if Noah had been given such an environment, he might have become lazy too—provided he did not know what would happen in the future.
Just think about how Thanos wiped out half of Asgard’s population without a word, in a way that could not be reversed. That was far more terrifying than a snap of the fingers!
"Noah, there seems to be something unusual about their armor," Wong suddenly whispered while Noah was lamenting Asgard’s tragic future.
"Yes. Their armor contains powerful energy." Noah came back to himself, sensed it briefly, and nodded.
Not only their armor, but even their weapons contained powerful force.
This equipment made them far superior in both attack and defense!
It made sense. Asgard not only possessed advanced magical civilization, but its technological level was also famous throughout the universe.
On top of that, they had a close relationship with the Dwarves—if those things at least five meters tall could really be called Dwarves.
So it was only natural that their equipment would be of this level. Even Thanos’s Infinity Gauntlet had been forged by the Dwarves.
"So this is Asgard." After looking around for quite some time, Ms. Heifen finally could not help sighing.
In this magical kingdom, the people lived happy and beautiful lives, surrounded by an exceptionally beautiful environment. Even ordinary soldiers possessed formidable strength.
Everything here perfectly matched Ms. Heifen’s impression of a kingdom of gods. It was even better than she had imagined.
"You like it here?"
"Yes. It is as beautiful as a dream. Do you not like it?"
"It’s all right. I do like it, actually. But I think turning our world into something like this would be incredibly unrealistic."
Noah rubbed his nose helplessly. More than unrealistic, it would be far more difficult than for Muggles to figure out a way to fly here.
Not to mention anything else, the energy shield alone was something the Muggle world’s technology probably could not achieve. Even mages could only solve such problems through magic.
Ms. Heifen likely understood that as well. Aside from the environment, which might possibly be recreated, everything else would be extremely difficult.
So she simply stopped talking about it. Fortunately, Asgard had plenty worth discussing, and at that moment, The Ancient One returned.
"Come, everyone. His Majesty Odin wishes to see you. Also, he has agreed to let you stay here and study."
"Thank you, Master."
Noah and the other two immediately thanked her, then followed The Ancient One into the palace.
Odin’s palace was enormous. The soldiers inside were all extremely stern, and Noah discovered that their strength was terrifying. Every one of them was at Tier 7 or even above Tier 7!
Noah could not help marveling that Asgard truly deserved to be a Cosmic Overlord-level power!
Although Odin would later seem to grow tired of living and choose to visit the world of death, leading to Asgard’s decline, Asgard was still one of the universe’s strongest forces at present!
These guards were probably killed after Hela broke out of her seal because they refused to submit to her.
Honestly, Odin probably did not care much about death at all.
But even he likely had not expected so many outstanding soldiers to die. Before his death, he had indeed warned Thor and placed enough pressure on him in the hope that he would grow.
Yet Thor’s performance had been rather terrible, which resulted in these soldiers essentially becoming cannon fodder and being wiped out completely.
By the time Odin could no longer bear to watch, Thor had mastered the abilities he should have possessed through Think of Dad. But Hela had already become terrifyingly powerful, and under those circumstances, there was only one choice.
That was to trigger the so-called Ragnarok and make Asgard disappear completely. Only then could Hela truly be killed.
Odin had probably anticipated this entire chain of events long ago. That was why he had made preparations by telling Thor where New Asgard should be established.
It had to be said that Odin seemed rather cold-blooded.
But on further thought, if Thor had mastered his own power earlier instead of waiting until Hela beat him half to death and he obtained Stormbreaker, perhaps there would not have been so much trouble.
Odin was responsible, but Thor was responsible too.
Of course, as a father, Odin’s actions had not really been wrong.
But as a ruler… well, Odin was no longer a ruler by then. He had already stepped down.
Noah followed The Ancient One deeper inside, his mind filled with wild thoughts. He kept wondering whether Odin was a thick-skinned, black-hearted man, or a king who had simply miscalculated and caused every tragedy.
Just then, a voice reached Noah and the others’ ears.
"Welcome to Asgard, mages from Midgard. Hmm? No, that is not right. Are you a dragon? A black dragon?"
