#518
Assault on Yashida
"Defend America?"
Quicksilver froze for a moment, then understood why Wang Bert was in such a hurry to have him rebel. This truly was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
"No problem. We’ll defend America."
Quicksilver and the Mutant Brotherhood mutants shouted in unison, their hearts brimming with excitement. As long as they completed this, they could clear their names and return to normal lives.
"Very good."
Wang Bert was quite satisfied with the Mutant Brotherhood’s performance. He took out his phone and called the American military, Baxi Military, and Island Nation military at the same time, ordering, "Begin the operation."
The three generals answered respectfully in unison, "Yes, Mr. Iron Man."
"Time is of the essence. We leave immediately."
Wang Bert put down the phone and said, "Everyone, the fate of the world is in our hands."
The mutants all straightened their backs, filled with excitement and pride. Nightcrawler did the same. He saluted Wang Bert, then vanished with the X-Men and Mutant Guardians.
Wang Bert nodded to Quicksilver and Hank, who remained behind, then led Wade and the others toward God’s City.
Hank took off his glasses and wiped them, sighing. "If I were a few decades younger, I’d definitely march out with them."
Quicksilver asked, "Isn’t the professor even older than you?"
"He’s different. This is his final battle. Once it’s over, he’ll officially retire."
Hank shook his head, put his glasses back on, and said to Quicksilver, "Pietro, Erik says you’re unreliable. This time, don’t you dare cause trouble. Otherwise, you won’t just drag yourself down—you’ll drag down the entire Brotherhood."
"What do you take me for? How could I be that reckless?"
Quicksilver said unhappily, "Today, I’ll do everything I can to stop the Evil Believers."
Hank nodded in satisfaction. "Good. I’ll first familiarize you with the Guardians’ procedures. The battle will begin soon."
Tokyo. A group of people appeared out of thin air in an unoccupied spot behind the Yashida Family’s back entrance. Storm looked at the pitch-black sky and said, "I didn’t expect it to be nighttime in Tokyo."
"Killing is more fun at night."
Wolverine spat out the cigar in his mouth and said, "Don’t hold back tonight. Iron Man said that aside from a handful of people, everyone in this estate deserves to die."
"Do you think we’re still rookies? We’ve lost count of how many Evil Believers we’ve killed."
Cyclops snorted, then asked, "By the way, who exactly are those handful of people?"
"How would I know?"
Wolverine shrugged. At that moment, the professor said, "They’re here."
Everyone looked toward the back entrance and saw an Island Nation man with a Samurai Sword at his waist pulling an Island Nation woman out through the back door. When the man saw the professor and the others, he breathed a sigh of relief. "You’re finally here."
Mariko asked in confusion, "Father, what is going on? Who are they?"
Wolverine glanced at Mariko, and his eyes lit up. Then he remembered that he was a married man and could not help sighing.
Yashida Shingen said, "They are the saviors of Tokyo and Yashida Industries. Mariko, your grandfather chose to worship the Doomsday Master in order to survive, intending to destroy Tokyo."
"How is that possible?"
Mariko was stunned. She knew something had gone wrong within the family, but she had never imagined it would be such a horrifying crisis.
"Miss Mariko, thank you for the warning. Otherwise, we would never have discovered this."
The professor first thanked Mariko, then said to Nightcrawler, "Kurt, take them somewhere safe so they won’t be caught up in this."
"Yes, Professor."
Nightcrawler nodded and stepped forward, preparing to take Yashida Shingen and Mariko away. Mariko shoved him aside and shouted, "No, I’m not leaving! This is my home. I’m not going anywhere!"
It was worth mentioning that the Mutant Guardians could control sound, so Mariko’s shout did not alert anyone inside the estate.
Nightcrawler was about to forcibly teleport Mariko away when Yashida Shingen bowed and said, "Please let us stay. As members of the Yashida Family, we cannot run away. Besides, I wish to personally cut off my father’s head and grant him redemption."
Everyone was shocked. What kind of custom was that? It was far too cruel.
"All right, but Mr. Yashida, please be careful."
The professor glanced at Yashida Shingen and did not object. He said, "All right, time is of the essence. Let’s begin."
With that, the professor activated his power. Everyone inside Yashida Estate felt their minds go blank, not knowing where they were or what they were supposed to do.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, everyone rushed into Yashida Estate. They showed no mercy to the guards, killing them the moment they saw them.
Cyclops even adjusted his power to maximum and blasted the elevated platform above. Sloth and Jealousy were there—Yashida Shingen had long since given Iron Man his father’s location.
Boom! The entire platform exploded, flames roaring into the air. Immediately afterward, two slightly disheveled figures leaped from the fire and landed before the professor and the others with two loud thuds, kicking up clouds of dust.
"X-Men? Mutant Guardians?"
General Anthony was stunned when he saw the professor and the others. Yashida Ichirō noticed Yashida Shingen and Mariko behind them and roared, "Shingen, you useless trash! You actually betrayed the family?"
"I didn’t betray the family. You’re the one who betrayed it. Everything I’ve done was to save the Yashida Family."
Yashida Shingen gripped his Samurai Sword and shouted. Mariko stared at Yashida Ichirō in shock. Her grandfather had actually become so young?
"You have no idea how powerful My God is. Today, all of you will die."
Yashida Ichirō shouted angrily and pressed a button inside the room with his mind. But to his surprise, neither the Sound of Death nor any explosions rang out.
"Mr. Yashida, are you wondering why the Sound of Death you wanted has not echoed through Tokyo?"
The professor motioned for the Guardians to deal with the bodyguards and ninjas in the estate while asking with a smile.
At that moment, the bodyguards and ninjas had already returned to normal. Seeing the Guardians charging at them aggressively, they hurriedly drew their weapons and fought back.
The Guardians were strong, but the bodyguards and ninjas who had become Evil Believers were no weaker. The two sides traded blows, and the sounds of battle rang out without pause.
Yashida Ichirō asked with a grim expression, "Shingen, did you tell the X-Men about my arrangements?"
"I will not let you destroy Tokyo."
Yashida Shingen did not deny it. "Iron Man used a virus to crack the Sound of Death’s control system long ago. As for those bombs and Poison Gas Bombs, I reported their locations to the military from the start.
"A few minutes ago, the military used shielding devices to disable those bombs. They should be dismantling them now.
"Father, I’m not as incompetent as you think. You’ve been bedridden for over a decade. My control over Yashida Industries is no less than yours."
Yashida Ichirō said bitterly, "Shingen, you truly are a fine son."
Mariko could not help asking, "Grandfather, are you really going to destroy Tokyo?"
"Mariko, you’re still young. You don’t understand the importance of life. Don’t worry, I won’t kill you. I’ll take you with me into immortality."
Yashida Ichirō raised his right hand. With a bang, the wooden door of a nearby building burst apart. Then, a suit of silver armor over three meters tall, with two Samurai Swords on its back, appeared before everyone.
While everyone was distracted, Yashida Ichirō leaped forcefully toward the silver armor. The armor opened down the middle and enclosed him within.
"You will all die."
Yashida Ichirō drew the two Samurai Swords from his back and slashed fiercely at Cyclops. Seeing this, Wolverine rushed in front of Cyclops and raised his claws to block Yashida Ichirō’s swords.
With a clang, Wolverine staggered back three steps. Seeing that the Samurai Swords had suffered no damage after colliding with his claws, he asked in surprise, "Old man, are your swords made of Adamantium?"
"Not just these swords. The armor on my body is also made of Adamantium. Logan, I originally intended to use this armor to absorb your regenerative ability, but there’s no need now, because I have already gained immortality."
Yashida Ichirō controlled the Samurai Swords and slashed repeatedly at Wolverine. Wolverine was weaker than him and was driven back again and again.
"No wonder Yashida Industries has been losing money all this time. You spent it all buying Adamantium."
Yashida Shingen cursed as he led Mariko backward to avoid being caught in the battle.
Seeing Wolverine unable to defeat the Silver Samurai, Cyclops hurriedly fired lasers at Yashida Ichirō. His brother, Shockwave, was not far behind, blasting a massive shockwave from his chest that slammed viciously into the silver armor.
The silver armor rapidly turned red from the bombardment. Yashida Ichirō sneered and poured a large amount of Black Qi into the armor, then stood there and let the two attack him.
At the same time, General Anthony said to the professor, "Professor Charles, do you know that you are the mutant our military wants to kill most?"
The professor was taken aback. "I always thought Erik was a greater threat than me."
"No, you are the greatest threat, because you can kill every human in an instant. If we had been certain we could kill you, we would have dug out your brain and studied it long ago."
General Anthony said with a twisted expression, "And you people—you freaks should never have existed in this world. The best place for you is a laboratory. Do you know how many times I wanted to bomb Mutant Academy with missiles?"
The X-Men’s expressions darkened to the extreme. Storm flew into the sky, her eyes rolling white as she shouted, "No wonder Iron Man said we were too naive. You people are utterly disgusting."
As she spoke, Storm pressed both hands downward, sending a massive bolt of lightning crashing toward General Anthony.
General Anthony snorted coldly. A large amount of Black Qi surged from his body and formed a massive shield that blocked the lightning.
"You will all die."
General Anthony then shouted. Countless firearms appeared in the sky and sprayed fire wildly at the ground. In the blink of an eye, tens of thousands of bullets rained down, more terrifying than a storm.
Everyone’s expressions changed drastically as they hurried to evade. Nightcrawler even teleported the professor and Jean to a nearby location.
Bang, bang, bang… Bullets hammered the ground, kicking up massive clouds of dust. Iceman Bobby, hiding behind a building, raised his right hand, and over a hundred ice spikes shot toward General Anthony at once.
General Anthony smiled disdainfully and controlled the shield to block the ice spikes. Then, with a thought, the firearms in the sky transformed into Rocket Launchers. The X-Men and the others could not help swallowing. Wasn’t this too brutal? Were they fighting a war? General Anthony’s ability was simple: weapon manifestation. Whether ancient or modern, he could manifest any weapon. It suited his identity as a general perfectly.
None of Original Sin’s emissaries were ordinary. Regular mutants simply could not contend against them.
Just as General Anthony was about to launch the rockets, his vision suddenly blurred, and he found himself on a sunny grassland with a gentle breeze.
Then, the professor walked out. Yes, the professor walked out. Here, he could move freely.
"An illusion?"
General Anthony snorted. "Without Cerebro, your illusion can’t defeat me."
"I’ve spent my entire life being a good person. Many people say I never get angry, but they’re wrong. I can get angry too. The reason I don’t is because I know that when I do, the consequences are severe."
As the professor spoke in an icy voice, the sky gradually darkened. Then, the pleasant breeze turned into gusts of cold wind that sent chills down one’s spine.
"Is that so? Then let’s see just how severe the consequences of your anger are."
General Anthony felt a little unnerved, then flew into a rage out of embarrassment. He clapped his hands together, and a large amount of Black Qi poured from his body, forming tank after tank around them and surrounding the professor.
Then, all the tanks turned their cannons toward the professor.
The professor smiled contemptuously. "Sorry, but in the Mind World, I am the strongest."
With the professor’s words, all the tanks decayed, as though tens of thousands of years had passed over them.
General Anthony’s expression changed. He raised his hand, and countless bombers appeared in the sky, firing missiles at the professor one after another.
"It’s useless."
The professor shook his head and lightly brushed the air with his hand. All the missiles vanished. When they reappeared, they were already above General Anthony.
General Anthony was horrified and hurriedly dismissed all the missiles and bombers. He stared at the professor, his expression incomparably grim. In the Mind World, the professor was as terrifying as a god.
"Don’t you discriminate against mutants? Then I’ll use mutants to kill you."
A cold gleam flashed through the professor’s eyes. Then, mutant after mutant appeared around him. There were enemies such as Magneto and Black King, as well as friends like Wolverine and Storm. Aside from Wang Bert, nearly every mutant he had ever met was there.
The professor could not replicate Wang Bert, but the other mutants were enough. He would make General Anthony understand the fury of mutants.
"A mutant powerhouse indeed. You’re not simple. But I won’t lose, and I can’t lose. To survive, I even abandoned America. If I lose, what meaning would my choice have?"
Black Qi erupted wildly from General Anthony’s body. Then, the Black Qi formed a massive combat fortress around him, covered in cannon muzzles that radiated cold menace.
General Anthony stood atop the fortress walls and shouted, "Come on! Let’s see whether mutants are stronger, or modern weapons!"
