Avengers, Assemble
"Understood!"
Watching the densely packed alien soldiers flying up, Happy hurriedly agreed. Wearing his Tuhao Gold armor, he was about to run into the tower.
Fortunately, they were at Stark Tower, where his armor could be repaired. Otherwise, Happy would have had no choice but to flee for his life like the ordinary people on the ground.
At that moment, a Quinjet landed in front of Happy. Its rear hatch opened, and several imposing figures stepped out.
"Avengers, assemble!"
The Chitauri army had begun invading Earth. A massive portal had opened above New York City.
Countless alien troops poured down from it. Hawkeye, having regained his senses, was fighting with all his might.
But Hawkeye alone could not make much of an impact.
Perhaps with the Kirin Armor, Hawkeye’s strength could be recognized. But no matter how powerful an individual was, that power would still seem insignificant in a war.
At that moment, Captain America, who had been fed a dose of motivational pep talk by Nick Fury, arrived in New York City without delay alongside Black Widow Natasha and Crossbones Rumlow.
They landed on the rooftop helipad of Stark Tower, right in front of Happy.
Stepping off the Quinjet, Captain America looked at the increasing number of Chitauri soldiers. He raised his right hand and shouted grandly.
Of course, Natasha and Rumlow behind him both looked at him speechlessly.
The Avengers only had the three of them left now. Hawkeye Barton probably counted too, since he had already begun fighting the alien army and had clearly regained his senses.
Their Avengers team only had four people now. The levelheaded Black Widow Natasha and Rumlow, who was also a veteran agent, did not believe that a few small fries like them could influence this war.
"Hi, Captain! Great to see you!"
Seeing them, Happy greeted them excitedly. Reinforcements had arrived. Though they would not be much use, Happy was still thrilled. At the very least, he would not have to fight alone.
"Hello."
Captain America did not know Happy, but that did not stop him from greeting him. Seeing Happy’s Tuhao Gold armor sparking, Captain America did not think he had much fighting power.
"Natasha, you have armor too, and you can fly. Go support Hawkeye. He’s under a lot of pressure facing the alien army alone."
Having quickly grasped the battlefield situation, Captain America rapidly analyzed it and gave his orders.
"Rumlow, come with me. The two of us will stay on the ground and protect the civilians."
Seeing large numbers of aliens flying toward the ground, Captain America, overflowing with righteous conviction, said this to Crossbones Rumlow beside him.
"…"
Rumlow’s face darkened. Fortunately, he was wearing his combat uniform, so no one could see his expression. Inside, he was utterly speechless.
Was Captain America stupid? The two of them were supposed to protect civilians?
Who did he think he was? Even if he could defeat one or two alien soldiers, how many could the two of them stop against an alien army blotting out the sky?
And how many civilians could they save?
Did he think the aliens were idiots? That they would just waste time fighting them, send their entire army after them, and ignore every other target?
Did he think the Avengers had activated some kind of taunt skill?
Besides, as a senior Hydra undercover agent, he was being asked to protect ordinary American civilians?
Risk his life for people who had nothing to do with him?
Was Captain America seriously ill? Did he think that was possible?
"As for you… hmm, you should hide for now."
Looking at the slightly chubby Happy, Captain America pondered for a moment before saying this.
Judging by Happy, he did not seem to have much combat ability.
Though he wore Tuhao Gold armor, Captain America did not believe this guy who looked like a director had many tricks up his sleeve.
"…"
Happy looked embarrassed at being looked down on.
"Alright, no problem, Captain."
Despite all the complaints in his heart, Rumlow still answered like this.
"Then let’s get down there quickly."
Captain America looked delighted and was quite pleased with Rumlow. Good man. In the entire Avengers team, only the two of them were normal people. They truly understood each other!
At that moment, Captain America felt that Rumlow might become a confidant like Bucky had once been.
For some reason, Rumlow felt a chill run through his entire body, and even his asshole inexplicably clenched.
"Captain, how are we getting down?"
Watching Black Widow fly into the sky to support Hawkeye, Rumlow could not help looking at Captain America.
"Hmm, take the elevator? Where’s the elevator?"
Watching the Quinjet take off as well to attack the alien army, Captain America fell silent for a moment before saying this.
Damn it, what was wrong with me? Why did I land on the roof?
He had even forgotten to ask the Quinjet to wait and take the two of them to the ground first. Captain America felt a little awkward now. The only way down was naturally to take the elevator like a normal person.
"Right, where’s the elevator?"
Captain America looked toward Happy, who had remained silent at the side, and asked.
"Uh, there’s a direct elevator in Tony’s office. It can get you down to the ground quickly."
Happy rubbed his nose and answered honestly.
"…"
Rumlow’s face darkened, but he still ran into Stark Tower alongside Captain America.
They went to take the elevator.
"Jarvis, tell me the current situation!"
The moment the three of them entered the office, they ran into Tony Stark, who had just come through the portal.
The instant Tony returned to Stark Tower, he hurriedly asked about the current situation.
"Sir, Dr. Selvig used a machine to create a portal device. The portal has now opened, and a large alien army is pouring out of it."
Jarvis swiftly reported the situation and projected numerous images.
The projection showed the massive portal in the sky, with a densely packed alien army charging toward New York City.
Ahead of the army, Hawkeye and Black Widow were doing everything they could to stop them. But the strength of two people was ultimately limited, and they could only hold back a small portion.
"Agent Barton and Agent Natasha are currently doing their best to stop the alien legion, but their strength is clearly limited."
Watching the projected footage, Tony’s expression turned ugly.
"Hi, Tony, you’re back?"
Seeing Tony Stark, Captain America strode over and greeted Tony.
"Captain America Rogers, I thought you died in the explosion on the Helicarrier."
Seeing Captain America and the others, Tony showed no joy at all and did not particularly want to deal with him.
"Jarvis, prepare my armor. Also, replace Happy’s armor for him."
Tony glanced at Captain America and Rumlow, with no intention of continuing to pay them any attention. He directly gave Jarvis his orders, while also preparing to take Happy outside to fight the Chitauri army.
