Battle for Mercenary Tao

Pfft, pfft, pfft, pfft~

The sound of flesh being torn apart was hardly any more pleasant than ripping cloth.

Karpio, transformed into a Kama Itachi, normally greatly enjoyed that sound. Whenever he tore open someone’s body, he got to see rows of terrified eyes.

But now, he only felt as though his heart had frozen solid.

Run, run now, I have to run!

That guy… was Mercenary Tao!

Karpio did not even spare a thought for warning his boss. He directly transformed into a gust of wind and flew toward the shore.

No matter how strong Night Raid was, it was only a High-tier Reincarnator. Mercenary Tao was a monster capable of slaughtering even top-tier Reincarnators.

He could not win. There was not even the slightest hope.

With a puff, Karpio sliced through every wooden hut in his path. Blood occasionally splattered out, but he had no mind to look. He only fled for his life.

Behind him, he finally sensed Boss 69’s Demonic Power erupting. That stench so foul it left humans weak was the unique "body odor" of a great demon.

Amid tremors that shook heaven and earth, a gigantic demon more than fifty meters tall swayed as it landed in the neighborhood, its voice becoming deep as well.

"Wait, we can talk…"

Bang!

It was as if the air had been emptied in an instant. The great demon in Karpio’s eyes had already smashed through rows of wooden huts and come hurtling through the air with terrifying momentum.

Karpio was incredibly fast, changing direction several times in an instant like lightning.

Only when he saw that enormous creature crash through a vast stretch of palm trees and roll to a stop did he finally relax.

And a figure was already standing before it.

"W-wait, Mercenary Tao, I can submit to you!"

At this point, Night Raid·69 finally recognized this terrifying fellow. He was Mercenary Tao, who had previously declared alongside East Xia’s official organization that he would "maintain world peace."

Fuck, this was maintaining world peace?!

69 cursed inwardly, but when he thought of Mercenary Tao’s usual madness, he somehow found the claim rather believable.

For someone like Mercenary Tao, declaring that he would maintain world peace while massacring an unfriendly neighboring country was perfectly reasonable.

Damn it, with someone like this born in East Xia, wouldn’t us Reincarnators from the Philippines be completely screwed…

In an instant, he abandoned his so-called patriotic sentiments. Years of resentment toward East Xia seemed to vanish in a moment as well.

They could talk—anything could be discussed. As long as Mercenary Tao was willing, he could discuss joining either Paradise or East Xia’s official organization.

Mercenary Tao, standing before him, still had his eyes closed. Only his mouth kept moving, uttering words with no clear meaning.

Thanks to Permanence: Language Comprehension, he could understand Mercenary Tao’s words, yet he had no idea what was happening.

"This guy sincerely wants to surrender. What should we do?"

"What good is surrender? This guy is an evil bastard. We have to kill him to balance the Tier!"

"Stop pretending you know so much about the Tier. You’re clearly just a Grudge Spirit~"

It was as though Mercenary Tao was having an internal argument with himself, continuously debating good and evil.

69’s thoughts stirred. He keenly realized that this probably had something to do with Mercenary Tao’s current appearance.

He suddenly pointed at the gray whirlwind. Though the Kama Itachi looked inconspicuous, it was accompanied by piercing shrieks while flying—the sound of air being constantly sliced apart.

"Lord Mercenary Tao, that guy is a great villain! He worked with local gangs to sell drugs and slaughtered countless ordinary people. He…"

Whooo~

A powerful current of Qi condensed with a howl. The terrifying temperature and explosive pressure made 69 gather his Demonic Power to its limit. He was ready to burst apart his demon body and flee at any moment.

Only then did he see that the others who had come with him had already been utterly slaughtered.

Whether it was Sara, the Third Tier expert on his team, or those other Reincarnators whose names he had not even remembered, they had all been instantly killed by Mercenary Tao in the very first exchange.

Against someone like this, the number of ordinary Reincarnators meant nothing.

Karpio’s scalp stung as though it were about to burst. Scenes flashed before his eyes, and in the next moment, scorching Qi erupted from behind him.

He tried to change direction, only to see the golden Ki Blast turn with him and accurately strike his back.

The next instant, lava-hot Qi pierced into the blood vessels within his body. In an instant, he felt his flesh melting, followed by swollen Qi expanding his skin and flesh until they bulged.

Bang!

An explosion burst forth in midair alongside flying blood and flesh.

A Reincarnator with at least some strength had been instantly killed by a single Ki Blast.

Beneath 69’s white fur, four massive claws uneasily gripped the ground.

Whoosh~ Step.

A figure seemed to tear through the air in an instant and appear before him. The newcomer’s long purple hair fluttered in the wind, while an eerie katana lay held across her body.

Her entire body radiated a chilling aura of death that made 69 shudder.

This person was… Death Sword Thought Silk?!

A Single Thought of Silk looked at the familiar yet unfamiliar "master" before her with an unreadable expression, then turned to look to the other side.

Su Enfei and Su Qingqiu also appeared before them as though tearing through a curtain.

Su Enfei and Su Qingqiu had arrived earlier than A Single Thought of Silk, yet they had not shown themselves. They had merely hidden in the shadows and observed Mercenary Tao.

What surprised A Single Thought of Silk was that her "master" truly seemed not to have noticed the two women hiding nearby. He was simply hunting down those absurdly weak Reincarnators.

Mercenary Tao’s condition was highly abnormal…

Accompanied by pain like her nerves were being burned through, A Single Thought of Silk silently cursed Mercenary Tao, but she still took the initiative to walk to his side. Sword in hand, she watched The Heaven’s two generals.

Su Qingqiu in particular—being a Special Reincarnator, she possessed a unique power capable of stripping enemies within a certain range of their abilities.

That ability posed a tremendous threat to any Reincarnator.

"You two have been hiding in the shadows. Don’t tell me you were planning to use this chance to do something to Lord Mercenary Tao?"

Su Qingqiu frowned and was about to refute her, but Su Enfei stopped her. She too had realized that Mercenary Tao was in a very wrong state.

Perhaps this was the best opportunity to deal with this monster?!

Her heart grew heated.

But then she saw the monster with his eyes closed suddenly turn toward her, muttering under his breath.

"She has killing intent. She is an evil person!"

"She is evil!"

"Yes, she must be executed!"

Then, Mercenary Tao looked out toward the sea. Intense Freezing Qi swept over, and amid cracking sounds, the noise of the waves gradually vanished.

A fierce cold wind arrived with a massive ship, crashing in from the coastline.

The palm grove shattered in an instant. Startled, 69, who stood in its path, undid his transformation. This so-called great demon felt unprecedented terror.

Watching more and more High-tier Reincarnators appear, he realized something was wrong. Perhaps he had become entangled in some extraordinary event.

Mahakala, with a pitch-black sun quietly burning behind him, still appeared in the youthful form of Golden Boy. He stepped down from the enormous wooden sailing ship, several Reincarnators following at his side.

One of them wore a turtleneck sweater and radiated biting Freezing Qi.

"A Single Thought of Silk, Su Qingqiu, I have come bearing His Excellency’s will."

"Could you hand Mercenary Tao over to us?"

He deliberately stepped aside. Under the moonlight, a man in a black coat stood aboard the sailing ship. Even the moon in the sky seemed as though it would be devoured by black flames.

It was the Great Sun of Finality!
