Binding Barrier: Deathmatch Theater
As Luster’s voice fell, the battle officially began.
However, the Bewitching Woman did not immediately come looking for Lu Su.
After all, this time, Lu Su was not alone as he had been last time.
Beside him stood Kuang Shou Zheng and Zhang Jingxing, two Diamond Grade Card Masters. Though most of their Diamond Grade cards had already been deployed, they still had one or two at their side, not to mention their defensive cards.
But Luster was in no hurry. Since she knew the current situation was Greyk’s trap, he must have made preparations long ago.
At that moment, Zhang Jingxing quietly asked Kuang Shou Zheng, "Lord Kuang, should we retreat first?"
"I’m afraid we can forget about taking the experimental materials and data."
In his view, now that the Demon Army had been alerted, their original plan to launch a surprise attack on the demon stronghold’s laboratory and seize the data could basically be declared a failure.
After all, even if they managed to defeat those Diamond Grade demons, the demons in the stronghold would likely have already destroyed all the experimental data.
Hearing this, Kuang Shou Zheng gave an almost imperceptible nod. "We’ll find an opportunity to withdraw directly."
The two Diamond Grade Card Masters settled on their next course of action in just a few breaths, then turned their attention to the distant battle.
When the battle between the cards and demons gradually reached a stalemate, Kuang Shou Zheng issued a grave command. "All troops, retreat!"
Very quickly, the Card Masters present efficiently recalled their cards and had them guard the perimeter.
At the same time, a massive number of demons and Grafted Demons poured out of the demon stronghold, mixed with a small number of cards belonging to Card Masters from the Guiyi Cult.
Kuang Shou Zheng was not surprised by this. With a light flick of the long snake in Kuafu’s hand, a ravine like a bottomless abyss spread across the ground. Yet Kuafu was soon tangled in battle with another Diamond Grade demon.
Though this could not completely stop the Demon Army’s pursuit, it could at least slow them down somewhat.
But at that moment, a regretful voice came from the large demon stronghold. "How decisive. If I hadn’t prepared beforehand, you might really have escaped."
"But unfortunately, from the very beginning, you had already stepped onto the stage I prepared for you."
"Curtain Call Stage."
As the voice spoke, a transparent cage that blotted out the sky instantly descended from the vast heavens, enveloping everyone present.
"A Binding Barrier?" Lu Su muttered in confusion.
After experiencing the Donglai and Ningyuan incidents, this was not his first encounter with such methods from the Demon Army.
However, this time, the transparent cage gave him an indescribably strange feeling.
Before he could think it through, the ground suddenly began to tremble.
Zhang Jingxing seemed to sense something as well and immediately reached for Lu Su’s arm. "Junior Disciple, hold on tight!"
Just as he was about to say something, that voice rang out again.
"Binding Barrier: Deathmatch Theater."
The next moment, a sudden sensation of weightlessness seized Lu Su.
Then, in a daze, the youth discovered that the ground, demon stronghold, and Card Masters had all vanished.
.?
He found himself standing in the center of an enormous theater, while the surrounding audience seats were completely empty.
Facing Lu Su were three Jade Grade demons with ill intent written all over their faces.
Without the slightest hesitation, Ulquiorra appeared before him.
"Seal it, Black Wing Great Demon."
As the pale figure spoke in an utterly calm voice, black Spirit Pressure surged from the ground and, in an instant, formed a torrential downpour of spiritual power over the platform.
Lu Su had no time to play some turn-based game with them.
At the sight of this, the malicious expressions on the three Jade Grade demons’ faces instantly froze.
They could not help exchanging glances, each seeing the bitterness on the others’ faces.
Without question, they had drawn the grand prize.
But after sensing the immense power now flowing through them, the three demons steadied themselves and bared savage grins. "Kid, running into us—"
Squelch!
An Emerald Spirit Spear pierced through a chest from behind.
Two of the demons stared blankly at Ulquiorra, who had somehow appeared behind them.
"So weak. You dared provoke Lord Lu Su with strength like this?"
Ulquiorra shook the corpse off his spearhead, then stabbed toward the remaining two demons.
The two demons barely managed to fend off Ulquiorra’s attacks, inwardly roaring, Is this really Jade Grade?!
They had already been strengthened by Lord Greyk. They were no longer the mere filler they had once been.
Whoosh!
The vicious Spirit Spear shot forth, piercing through another demon’s body before flying straight into the distance.
Only when it struck the edge of the theater did it explode violently.
Seeing that he was the only one left, the final demon roared, "What kind of—"
"Trash shouldn’t talk so much. It only makes you more annoying."
A calm voice sounded behind him, followed by a black Cero that suddenly swallowed him whole.
After dealing with the three Jade Grade demons, Ulquiorra returned to Lu Su’s side carrying their mangled corpses.
"Lord Lu Su, I have not failed you."
However, Lu Su’s thoughts were entirely focused on Ulquiorra.
"Well done."
He nodded in satisfaction.
After transforming into his No. 4 form, Ulquiorra’s combat power had indeed not disappointed him.
Using only the first stage of Resurrección, Ulquiorra had killed the three Jade Grade demons—each worth at least Blue Quality materials—with almost a single exchange.
Thinking of this, Lu Su extracted the materials from the three demons. Blue Quality materials should at least fetch him some points.
Yet when he saw the quality of the three materials, he froze. "White? Green?"
To Lu Su’s surprise, the demons’ materials were not Purple Quality as he had expected, but White and Green, the two lowest qualities.
"How could this be?" Lu Su was puzzled, but he quickly came up with an idea. "Could this space be capable of enhancing demons’ strength?"
It was a reasonable deduction.
After all, if this so-called Binding Barrier: Deathmatch Theater was only meant to divide the battlefield, there would have been no need to make such a grand display.
"So what now?"
Filled with confusion, Lu Su walked to the edge of the theater.
He reached out to test it and found an invisible barrier preventing him from leaving.
Then, at his signal, Ulquiorra fired a Thunder Spear into the distance.
Nothing happened.
Lu Su was momentarily at a loss.
Just as he was considering how to escape, several more figures appeared in the center of the theater.
Demons.
Slightly stronger than the three trash mobs from before.
Larger trash mobs.
"A deathmatch?"
Lu Su took a deep breath. Perhaps he understood the meaning behind Binding Barrier: Deathmatch Theater.
In another theater.
Zhang Jingxing and Kuang Shou Zheng stared grimly at the group of Diamond Grade demons in the distance. "What a fine scheme, Greyk."
Hearing this, Greyk smiled faintly. "You flatter me."
"If you hadn’t cooperated, I wouldn’t have been able to pull all of you into this space so easily."
"Fortunately, my preparations were not in vain."
Greyk had put considerable thought into this Binding Barrier: Deathmatch Theater, even using quite a few important items he had accumulated in the past.
Only then had he succeeded in realizing his plan.
Then, as though trying to deal the two a blow, Greyk continued, "Don’t bother thinking too much, you two."
"Unless you kill every demon in the theater, you will not be able to leave."
At these words, the two men’s hearts sank.
They could naturally sense that the auras of the distant Diamond Grade demons had suddenly grown stronger after arriving here.
Thus, they easily concluded that this space had the ability to enhance demons’ strength.
Without question, the scales of victory were gradually tipping toward their opponents.
But that was not all. Greyk then spoke again in a teasing tone. "Perhaps you can hope to break through to Master Grade in the middle of battle?"
The two fell silent. Of course, they knew a Master Grade Card Master could definitely break out of this place.
And not just break through this Binding Barrier: Deathmatch Theater. If there truly were a Master Grade Card Master here, they could arrange every demon present into all eighteen positions if they wished.
However, Greyk left one thing unsaid. In order to trap the only two Diamond Grade Card Masters present, he had drawn upon most of the Binding Barrier: Deathmatch Theater’s power to reinforce the barrier of this particular theater.
Therefore, if someone in the other spaces used to trap Jade Grade Card Masters could touch the threshold of Diamond Grade, it would affect every space other than this theater.
"Enough, Greyk. Why waste words on them?" Luster licked her lips and said impatiently. "My little sweetheart is still waiting for me."
Greyk smiled helplessly. "Don’t worry. I already gave the order. The people below won’t hurt him."
The undisguised conversation between the two demons made Zhang Jingxing’s face darken uncontrollably.
Of course he knew who that little sweetheart was.
But when he thought that his Junior Disciple should not be in danger before their side had determined victory or defeat, his mood improved slightly.
Of course, based on Zhang Jingxing’s earlier observations, with the strength of Lu Su’s current two Jade Grade cards, most Jade Grade demons would not be his opponents anyway.
After calming themselves slightly, the two Diamond Grade Card Masters were about to face the demons.
Yet at that moment, surprise suddenly appeared on Greyk’s face, which had remained calm as though everything were under his control. It was as if something unbelievable had happened.
His expression then darkened, and two figures instantly appeared in the theater.
"Senior Disciple Brother?!"
"Junior Disciple?!"
"Little sweetheart?!"
As the figures appeared, several cries with entirely different tones rang out through the theater.
