bully others by taking advantage of one’s power

A law enforcer was being besieged by Song Mingyuan, Li Qi, and Luo Cang, while dozens of ordinary Disciples seized every opportunity to launch sneak attacks, leaving him incredibly irritated.

The chain in his hand whistled through the air as he unleashed the full power of a Middle Stage Tendon Transformation expert, forcing everyone to retreat.

The gap between the two sides was simply too large. Even when Song Mingyuan and the others had their weapons struck by the chain, their arms would go numb from the shock. They were simply not on the same level; even a Core Disciple wouldn't be able to handle it.

Among the three ongoing battles, the differences were stark. Aman was fighting Wu Qi alone, growing braver with every strike, and showed no signs of defeat.

Over there, Tang Waner and Ye Zhiqiu were locked in a fierce battle with a law enforcer; although they were struggling, they were barely managing to hold on.

Yet on their side, even with three against one, they were in constant danger, with the highest number of injuries and the risk of total collapse at any moment.

Song Mingyuan and the others gritted their teeth and persisted, and the other Disciples did not slacken in the slightest. Whenever someone was sent flying or injured, another would immediately step up to take their place. Unless they were too severely injured to stand, no one retreated.

"A bunch of idiots, you are purely courting death."

The Core Disciple was extremely annoyed by the siege. Although he kept saying that killing wouldn't bring any repercussions, how could he really dare to kill anyone?

Besides, their own hands weren't clean in this matter. Since they had been sought out and caught red-handed, they wouldn't be able to escape punishment if they actually killed someone.

However, being besieged like this made him angry. While he didn't dare to kill, inflicting heavy injuries was another matter entirely.

The chain in his hand whistled and roared as he launched a full-power attack, instantly forcing everyone back. Several ordinary Disciples were sent flying, vomiting blood.

"Get lost, all of you!" the law enforcer roared, looking quite imposing.

But no sooner had he finished roaring than a sharp, piercing Aura locked onto him, and a terrifying Killing Intent made him feel as if he had fallen into an ice cellar.

A bone blade, like a life-reaping knife from the depths of Hell, thrust directly toward his face. The angle was tricky, and the move was ruthless.

The power on the bone blade was concentrated but not yet released. The law enforcer knew that if he were struck by such a blade, his head would instantly explode.

"He wants to kill me!"

The law enforcer was terrified. The newcomer's goal was simple: to kill him in a single strike, quick and direct.

He retreated explosively, simultaneously swinging his chain to collide with the bone blade. However, to his horror, his attack—which could easily deflect a strike from a Core Disciple—could not even shake the bone blade.

The bone blade slowed only slightly, continuing to surge forward with lightning speed, aiming straight for the law enforcer's glabella.

By the time the law enforcer reacted, the bone blade was already touching his glabella. Terrified out of his wits and with his heart practically leaping out of his chest, he hurriedly tilted his head to the side.

"Shhh!"

Although he avoided the fatal blow, the bone blade still sliced open the law enforcer's forehead, causing blood to splatter.

If the law enforcer hadn't relied on instinct to move his head at the critical moment, that bone blade would have pierced his skull and killed him on the spot.

The appearance of the bone blade was earth-shattering. The single strike had nearly killed the law enforcer, leaving Song Mingyuan and the others stunned.

"Long Chen!"

Long Chen had appeared before them at some point, his bone blade pointing at the terrified law enforcer.

Long Chen's face was icy cold, and his eyes held no Killing Intent, only a calm—a deathly, absolute calm.

Yet this calm was even more terrifying; the law enforcer, stared at by Long Chen, felt as if his heart were about to stop.

"Whoosh!"

The bone blade in Long Chen's hand vibrated as he lunged at the law enforcer, slashing directly toward his neck.

The moment Long Chen made his move, Song Mingyuan and the others stopped. They felt that if they went over, they wouldn't be able to help and would only get in the way, so they decided to just stand guard for Long Chen instead.

Furthermore, Long Chen's attacks were filled with an indomitable Killing Intent, completely different from their fighting style, and they couldn't intervene at all.

Watching Long Chen fight was the most exciting thing for everyone; the domineering Aura Long Chen displayed while fighting made everyone's blood boil.

Seeing Long Chen lunging at him, the law enforcer almost turned and fled, as he had been scared out of his wits—he had nearly died just a moment ago.

Although he had been cultivating for so long, aside from his first assessment, he hadn't truly encountered many life-and-death battles.

Long Chen was different. Having lingered on the edge of life and death countless times, he possessed a powerful will. The accumulated Killing Intent could chill an opponent to the bone, greatly hindering their ability to perform in battle.

The more the opponent was affected by Long Chen's Aura, the more intense their inner fear became, and the less they were able to display their true strength.

This was why the academy utilized life-and-death assessments to consolidate everyone's will, allowing them to unleash greater combat power during life-and-death battles.

However, a single life-and-death battle was far from enough to completely consolidate a person's will. It wasn't like Long Chen, who constantly faced deadly predicaments, which was the only way to forge an unyielding will capable of ignoring the threat of death and remaining calm.

"Boom!"

The law enforcer's chain was slashed open by Long Chen's blade. Long Chen took a step forward, spun around, and delivered a horizontal slash straight toward the law enforcer's waist.

Scared out of his wits by Long Chen, the law enforcer was merely defending desperately, not daring to attack.

Long Chen's horizontal slash was a follow-up to the previous move, with an even more devious angle. It landed right in the law enforcer's blind spot; no matter how he defended, he couldn't block this strike.

If he had reacted normally, he should have blocked with his chain while retreating explosively. Even if the chain couldn't stop it, relying on his speed, there would still be a certain chance of avoiding it.

Even if he couldn't avoid it, the bone blade in Long Chen's hand was a beast's tooth. Aside from its sharp tip, it wasn't honed, so its power wasn't strong. Through blocking and dodging, it wouldn't have been able to inflict too much damage.

However, he had been terrified by Long Chen's first move and had completely forgotten that the weapon in Long Chen's hand was a beast's tooth, not a sharp broadsword.

He only knew that Long Chen wanted to kill him and that if he were struck by Long Chen's blade, he would be cut in two. In his panic and terror, he had actually gone blank, forgetting to block or dodge.

"Crack!"

Long Chen's bone blade slashed fiercely against the law enforcer's ribs. A teeth-gritting sound of cracking bones rang out, and the law enforcer screamed as he was sent flying.

Now everyone was stunned. That law enforcer, with his formidable combat power, hadn't even lasted ten moves in Long Chen's hands before being severely injured.

The spectators saw clearly this time: it wasn't that Long Chen's combat power was stronger, but that the law enforcer had been suppressed by Long Chen's Aura.

His cultivation base was suppressed to less than eighty percent, and combined with his inner fear, mental tension, and errors in judgment, he was actually easily defeated by Long Chen.

This shocked everyone. Long Chen had used his actions to teach everyone a lesson: having high cultivation and great combat power didn't guarantee victory.

This was a classic case of the weak defeating the strong, but it wasn't entirely about that. Although Long Chen's combat power was weaker, he possessed an indomitable Aura, a determination to face death without fear, and a powerful conviction of certain victory.

Before, none of the Disciples understood what these so-called Aura, determination, and conviction were; they sounded so ethereal and intangible.

But today, Long Chen had shown everyone through his actions just how important these intangible things were.

Gu Yang, Lei Qianshang, Guan Wennan, and the other Core Disciples finally understood why Long Chen was so strong.

It was because Long Chen possessed a powerful conviction—a conviction of invincibility—and no one could shake his determination.

Even the prospect of death could not shake his conviction; this was the essential condition for becoming a true powerhouse.

All of them had been instilled with a wrong concept by their Family Elders: that talent was the foundation of becoming a powerhouse.

Even with the best foundation, without that indomitable spirit and the conviction to become a powerhouse at all costs, one would be like bamboo in a greenhouse, unable to withstand the wind and frost.

Just like that law enforcer; he usually looked robust and upright, giving people the feeling that he had a very imposing Aura.

But when it truly came to a life-and-death moment, it revealed his characteristic of being strong on the outside but weak on the inside.

Long Chen, however, was the complete opposite. His appearance was very ordinary and not powerful, but when it came to a real hard-fought battle, people would discover that beneath his ordinary exterior lay a core as tough as tempered steel.

Long Chen's performance showed them another kind of future, and almost all the Disciples felt a sudden sense of clarity in their hearts.

Looking at that figure who seemed like a Heavenly God descending, radiating an endless Aura, their hearts were filled with gratitude and awe.

After Long Chen sent the man flying with one strike, his body followed the blade as he lunged at the law enforcer, the bone blade in his hand slashing down toward his head.

"What?"

This shocked everyone. The law enforcer was already severely injured and completely unable to dodge; Long Chen's strike was truly intended to kill him.

"Stop!"

Suddenly, a cold shout rang out, making everyone's eardrums ring. Just as Long Chen's bone blade was about to strike the law enforcer's head, a streak of black light flew past and collided directly with Long Chen's bone blade.

Long Chen felt a sharp pain in his arm as a great force hit him, sending him flying. His Qi and blood surged, and he nearly vomited a mouthful of blood.

Focusing his eyes, he saw that at some point, the furious-looking Elder Sun had appeared before them.

With the appearance of Elder Sun, everyone was shocked and retreated one after another; they hadn't expected to disturb an Elder-level powerhouse so quickly.

Tang Waner and the others saw that the first to appear was Elder Sun, and their hearts couldn't help but sink as a bad premonition arose.

Elder Sun pointed at Long Chen and coldly shouted, "At such a young age, you are so ruthless in your attacks; how are you any different from a demon? If I do not suppress you today, where is the justice of Heaven?"

After Elder Sun finished speaking, he suddenly released a powerful pressure from his body, covering the entire scene in an instant. Everyone immediately found it difficult to breathe, as if their bones were about to be crushed.

The ordinary Disciples turned pale, and some even had blood seeping from the corners of their mouths, but they all held on stubbornly, refusing to be overcome by that Aura.

"Audacious Long Chen! Gathering a crowd to fight and besieging the law enforcement station is an unforgivable crime. Why haven't you knelt down yet?"

Elder Sun shouted sternly, instantly concentrating all the pressure on Long Chen. Long Chen immediately felt as if he were being pressed down by a massive mountain.

Long Chen's eyes were filled with icy Killing Intent. Looking at the sanctimonious Elder Sun, he slowly raised the bone blade in his hand.

"Courting death! You still dare to resist?" Elder Sun roared angrily, and just as he was about to increase the pressure, a wind suddenly arose behind his head.

"Old geezer, get lost!"

Accompanied by a roar, a massive mace, like a heaven-splitting pestle, smashed toward Elder Sun's head.
