Chapter 105: Fugitive?

[You return home and are about to Cultivate when you discover an uninvited guest has arrived.]

[It is a heavily injured young girl of unknown identity.]

[You provide simple treatment, stopping the bleeding of her wounds, while placing her weapon far away just in case.]

[Your treatment is effective. After only half an hour, the girl in the Blood Exchange Realm wakes from her coma.]

[Her consciousness is frantic, still trapped in the tension from before she lost consciousness. Subconsciously, she tries to attack you, who are in the same room.]

An attack while heavily injured.

It is far too weak and powerless.

Coupled with the fact that Xu Xi was prepared and had taken away the spear beforehand.

He easily blocks the attack the girl makes upon waking.

Confusion, doubt, shock.

Multiple expressions flicker across her small, pretty face before finally settling into embarrassment and a forced smile.

"Well, uh, how about I say I'm sorry?" The girl possesses peerless beauty, every contour of her face epitomizing the word "beauty," yet her demeanor is rather boisterous and unrefined.

Xu Xi can tell that her boisterous attitude is both her true nature and a disguise.

Although the girl tries hard to appear unguarded.

But her darting eyes clearly show she doesn't trust Xu Xi, and she subconsciously looks for her spear.

"There's no need for an apology."

Inside the room, Xu Xi unhurriedly takes a sip of tea and, under the girl's surprised and astonished gaze, says, "Since you're awake, you should leave on your own."

In the first simulation, Xu Xi adopted Xu Moli because an infant cannot survive independently.

In the second simulation, Xu Xi adopted Klisa because an emotionless object cannot live like a human.

And this time.

The Blood Exchange Realm girl who dropped in from nowhere clearly possesses a mature worldview and solid strength; Xu Xi doesn't feel he needs to do anything for her.

Quiet, terrifyingly quiet.

The girl is so surprised she's speechless, seemingly not expecting Xu Xi to kick her out directly.

The chirping of insects outside drifts in, and the rustling of the intertwined willow trees sounds quite imposing.

Further magnifying that shock.

"You…" The boisterousness on her face vanishes, replaced by a serious and earnest expression.

The girl sizes Xu Xi up, seemingly trying to confirm his identity, judge his motives, and weigh the pros and cons.

A flash of blankness and confusion crosses her eyes.

Finally, it turns into a desperate gamble.

"I am Wu Yingxue, the legitimate daughter of Prince Dingyuan of Great Qian!"

"The Commandery Princess Liangan, titled by the current Emperor!"

"I was carelessly plotted against by villains and fell here heavily injured. Help me return to the capital quickly, and once I see my father, I will surely grant you a high official position!"

The girl—or rather, Commandery Princess Wu Yingxue.

Suddenly, she grabs Xu Xi's arm tightly, her eyes widening, and speaks in the fastest, most urgent tone.

In this moment.

Xu Xi feels like he just heard: "Transfer me 50 bucks."

"Let go," Xu Xi says, calmly pulling the girl's hand away.

"You don't believe me?!"

"I believe you. After all, your clothes and that weapon are very strong proofs of identity."

"Then why won't you help me?"

The girl is confused and bewildered.

According to storybooks, shouldn't Xu Xi be bowing his head in worship and shouting his eternal loyalty right now?

Inside the quiet house.

Sunlight pierces through the window, making the dust in the air clearly visible.

Xu Xi shakes his head and, with a lecture the girl has never heard before, deals a heavy blow to her naive worldview: "In this world, there is no such principle that one must help another."

"I saved you because I wanted to."

"I'm not helping you because I don't want to."

"Furthermore, there's one more thing I think I should remind you of…"

*Bang, bang, bang—*

Just as Xu Xi is about to say the second half of his sentence, an urgent knocking comes from outside, so he stops.

He tells the girl to rest on the bed while he goes out to open the door.

The one knocking is an acquaintance.

"A-Niu, what are you doing here?" Stepping over the stone threshold, Xu Xi looks at the honest-looking young man in front of him, feeling quite surprised.

A-Niu's full name is Zhang Tieniu.

He is twenty this year, two years younger than the Xu Xi in the simulation.

He has an honest personality, with a hint of silliness in his dazed expression. With thick eyebrows and large eyes, he looks like a very simple and honest man.

"Big Brother Xu," the honest fellow says, grinning under the scorching sun, his clothes soaked in sweat.

Panting, he wipes the sweat from his forehead. "I came to let ya know somethin'."

Xu Xi asks, puzzled, "Let you know what?"

A-Niu nods. "Yeah, Big Brother Xu. A whole bunch of officials came to town, sayin' they're lookin' for some fugitive."

*Thump!!*

Just as A-Niu finishes speaking.

A very loud sound of something falling comes from inside the house.

The honest fellow scratches his head. "Big Brother Xu, what's goin' on in your house? Why's there such a racket?"

Xu Xi smiles. "It's nothing, just some mice making a mess."

A-Niu realizes. "Oh, so it's black mice. Big Brother Xu, you're amazing, and your mice are amazing too. For a sound that big, it's gotta be a huge one."

The noise inside continues, accompanied by the faint sound of teeth grinding.

A-Niu is curious, but prompted by Xu Xi, he focuses back on the matter of the fugitive.

"The officials said the fugitive is a young girl from the capital. She looks honest, but she's actually a cold-blooded female Devil Head."

*Thud, thud,* like a fist hitting the floor.

"Big Brother Xu, what do you think that girl from the city looks like?"

"I can't say for sure."

"Hehe, my ma said girls from the city must have arms as thick as logs and waists like buckets. They could probably slap several people to death in one go. Why else would the government be huntin' 'em?"

A-Niu chuckles sillily.

Sharing his insights and experiences with Xu Xi.

He doesn't notice at all how strange Xu Xi's expression is, nor the increasingly loud thuds coming from inside the house.

Thump after thump, yet muffled with restraint.

"Alright, I've got it. Thanks for your hard work, A-Niu. Go on home now." Xu Xi smiles and sees the man off, then closes the front gate.

When he returns to the room.

Wu Yingxue is already grinding her teeth, the sound echoing in the room. Her fists are clenched tight, looking like she wants to hit someone but doesn't dare.

Clearly.

The comments about "black mice" and a "waist like a bucket" have deeply wounded her.

But the girl still has her reason, and she quickly realizes another matter of vital importance to her.

"Fugitive?"

"What's going on? I… I've become a fugitive?"

"This, this is impossible…"

The girl's expression is one of doubt and uncertainty, her fingertips trembling slightly, revealing the tumultuous shock within her.

She is completely unable to comprehend the current situation and the sudden, shocking turn of reality.

"This is what I wanted to tell you earlier." Xu Xi's expression is calm. He closes the door to block any potential prying eyes from outside and slowly sits down.

"If you didn't lie to me, then given your identity, being attacked is an impossibility in itself."

"Unless something has happened to your status."
