Chapter 107: Go Kill Him

Out of the ten people from the War God Hall, besides Ma Liang who left alone four days ago, only three of them remained after these three days. Zhou Zihong sighed bitterly, quickly turned her head to glance at the increasingly close strange creatures, and closed her eyes in despair, Ma Liang's figure involuntarily appearing in her mind.

"That Ma Liang has always been timid as a mouse, greedy for life and afraid of death, yet his skin is extremely thick, not caring about scolding or beating. Junior Sister Tong couldn't stand being pestered by him, which is why she thought of a way to get him to the Outer Realm Battlefield. If I hadn't taken pity on him and saved him many times, he would probably have died long ago. This Ma Liang is quite conscientious; a few days ago, he gave me a Medicinal Pill, saying it could preserve youth after eating it, though I don't know if it's true…"

With despair in her heart, Zhou Zihong's mind uncontrollably wandered. Just then, she suddenly heard Senior Brother Yang beside her anxiously shout: "Ma Liang! Run!"

Zhou Zihong was startled, her beautiful eyes opened, and she saw a young man flying towards them. The young man had delicate features, but a hint of coldness was hidden within, and there was a patch of bloodstains on his chest.

"Junior Brother Ma, this time we are doomed, alas." Senior Brother Yang sighed, looking about thirty years old, with a melancholic expression on his face.

Wang Lin swept his gaze over the three of them without speaking. At this moment, the dozen or so Wandering Souls chasing from behind suddenly stopped, staring at Wang Lin with hesitation.

Wang Lin let out a soft snort, and a ripple of Divine Sense emanated.

"Scram!"

The dozen or so Wandering Souls immediately retreated in panic and fear, vanishing without a trace in the blink of an eye.

Zhou Zihong stared blankly at the scene before her, unable to guess why those terrifying creatures suddenly left. Suddenly, she turned to look at Wang Lin, a ridiculous thought rising in her heart: Could these terrifying creatures be afraid of Ma Liang?

But immediately after, she dismissed this conjecture. The other two War God Hall Disciples were also confused, but no matter what, the feeling of surviving a disaster surged, and all three let out a sigh of relief.

The Senior Brother surnamed Yang was the most senior among them. He looked around with lingering fear and quickly said, "Junior Sister, although we don't know why those creatures didn't attack us, this place is not suitable for long stays. We should hurry to the Teleportation Formation and leave here as soon as possible."

Zhou Zihong shivered and nodded quickly, saying to Ma Liang, "Junior Brother Ma, your cultivation is the lowest, so you must stick close to us. You absolutely cannot let those creatures pounce on you, otherwise your Soul will be Flying Away and Spirit Scattering immediately."

At this moment, another War God Hall Disciple said impatiently, "What are you still dawdling for? If you're not going, I'm going first." With that, he moved his body and quickly rushed out. Through Ma Liang's memory, Wang Lin knew this person was named Lin Tao.

The Senior Brother surnamed Yang also quickly followed, not at all willing to stay put. Zhou Zihong glanced at Wang Lin, whispered, "Be careful," and then leaped forward, flying off.

Wang Lin had never had a chance to speak. He lifted his feet and unhurriedly followed behind. The reason he saved these three, besides having other plans, was also because in Ma Liang's memory, he was quite grateful to Zhou Zihong. Wang Lin felt that since he had taken Ma Liang's body, he should do some things for him.

As Zhou Zihong and the other two flew, they were extremely cautious, even when taking out medicines to replenish spiritual power from their Storage Pouches, they were very careful. Zhou Zihong even took out an extra one and handed it to Wang Lin. Wang Lin looked at the Medicinal Pill in his hand and involuntarily thought of his Heaven Defying Bead; the liquid soaked by the bead was the best recovery medicine.

Unfortunately, the Storage Pouch containing many treasures, including the Gourd, was crushed by Teng Huayuan, all turning into nothing.

Wang Lin sighed inwardly. He could sense the presence of the bead in his Divine Sense, and even the Flying Sword from the Blood Refining Technique felt as if it had merged into his Soul. However, now was not the time to investigate. Wang Lin pondered for a moment, becoming more certain in his heart that after leaving the Outer Realm Battlefield, he must find a place to cultivate in seclusion.

The Cultivators in the Outer Realm Battlefield, in the past few days, noticed that the signs of collapse seemed to have slowed down slightly, but this was of no use to them, because compared to large areas of collapse, those strange creatures were even more terrifying.

A large area of collapse, visually at most, meant people suddenly disappeared, but the devouring by those creatures made people watch helplessly as their Souls were swallowed, screaming repeatedly, and then their bodies turned into dried corpses.

If these Cultivators were to choose their method of death, almost all of them would choose collapse, not being devoured.

The entire Outer Realm Battlefield has four large Teleportation Formations. The direction Wang Lin and the three others were flying was towards the nearest one. Wang Lin had no fixed preference for these four Teleportation Formations; for him, going to any Teleportation Formation was the same. These Teleportation Formations could only transport those with qualified jade talismans.

Everyone who enters the Outer Realm Battlefield is issued a jade talisman. Besides resisting the fierce wind, the greatest use of this jade talisman is to serve as a token for teleporting back.

Wang Lin did not have a token from the State of Zhao and could not return directly to the State of Zhao through the Teleportation Formation. Now that he occupied Ma Liang's body, the best choice for him was the Fire Burning Country where Ma Liang belonged.

This was also another reason he saved Zhou Zihong and the other two, in order to seize a jade talisman.

Of course, if he could find Xu Hao and Ge Yang, that would naturally be best.

These two had been listed by Wang Lin as people he must kill. Killing them was not for Ma Liang, but because these two knew that the real Ma Liang was dead. In order not to leave any future troubles, they had to die.

Along the way, based on Ma Liang's memories, Wang Lin had already contacted three of his neighbors, asking them to help search. All the Wandering Souls in the entire Outer Realm Battlefield became Wang Lin's eyes and ears for this matter. Once there was news of the two of them, his three neighbors would immediately notify him.

If, until the very end, there was still no news of the two of them, it could only mean that Xu Hao and Ge Yang were already dead.

After flying for a continuous week, what puzzled Zhou Zihong and the other two was that all the strange creatures seemed to ignore them completely, as if they couldn't see them.

Even some that clearly rushed over immediately turned a corner and bypassed them.

So, along the way, the three of them had a journey with thrills but no real danger, eventually even getting used to countless such experiences every day. Often, upon seeing those strange creatures, they no longer stopped immediately and changed direction as before, but merely slowed down slightly, then accelerated after the creatures left.

Even more bizarrely, once, a creature suddenly appeared and pounced on Zhou Zihong, but the moment it touched Zhou Zihong, it suddenly shrieked and quickly retreated as if it had seen something unimaginably terrifying, fleeing in a panic regardless of anything.

The three were not fools; such strange occurrences naturally aroused suspicion. After a brief thought, combining the events before and after, they immediately understood that the answer lay with Wang Lin.

However, besides Zhou Zihong opening her mouth, wanting to ask something but ultimately not doing so, the other two simply pretended not to see anything.

It wasn't that they didn't want to ask, but that they couldn't. If they offended Wang Lin with a single word now, they might lose their lives here.

The Disciple named Lin Tao, with his back to Wang Lin, his eyes flickering, was secretly pondering something, but quickly his expression returned to normal, showing no hint of anything amiss.

Seeing that they were not far from the nearest Teleportation Formation, the number of Cultivators nearby also increased. Everyone's goal was the Teleportation Formation ahead.

Wang Lin had already used his Divine Sense to investigate. A group of people had gathered outside the Teleportation Formation, waiting for it to open. A white light barrier enveloped the Teleportation Formation, acting as protection. Outside the Teleportation Formation, a large number of dried corpses floated, all of which were Cultivators who had tried to enter the Teleportation Formation. Around them, Wandering Souls occasionally appeared, drilling in and out of the dried corpses.

The Teleportation Formations in the Outer Realm Battlefield are normally all closed, only opening at fixed times. There are still two days until the opening day.

These people inside the Teleportation Formation nervously stared outside, and at the slightest disturbance, they would all be startled. But gradually, some people discovered that those Wandering Souls only hovered outside and absolutely did not touch the light barrier of the Teleportation Formation.

People successively discovered this phenomenon, so those inside the formation all breathed a sigh of relief.

While flying, Wang Lin's expression suddenly changed. His neighbor transmitted a message, having found the two people he was looking for. Both had died, and their Storage Pouches were being sent by a Wandering Soul.

Not long after, a phantom Wandering Soul with two horns on its head flew rapidly from a distance. Zhou Zihong and the other two initially paid no attention, but then noticed the Wandering Soul getting closer and couldn't help but look at Wang Lin.

At this moment, the Wandering Soul suddenly stopped in front of the three of them, flicked its hand towards Wang Lin, and three Storage Pouches immediately flew out, which Wang Lin caught in his hand.

After doing all this, the Wandering Soul immediately turned and flew away.

Wang Lin's eyes flickered as he stared at the Wandering Soul, then suddenly said, "Stop!"

The Wandering Soul paused, then turned around, trembling as it looked at Wang Lin.

Wang Lin didn't even look at Zhou Zihong and the other two, he moved his body forward, lightly arriving in front of the Wandering Soul. Wang Lin had devoured no less than eight thousand, if not ten thousand, Wandering Souls; he hadn't even counted the exact number himself. He could tell at a glance that there was something unusual about this Wandering Soul.

The Wandering Souls Wang Lin had devoured before were actually more like life forms existing in a Divine Sense state. They possessed a certain level of intelligence, but their innate instinct was to devour everything.

However, this Wandering Soul in front of him was distinctly different; its body was extremely heterogeneous. After devouring numerous Souls, they seemed undigested, leaving deep traces within its body.

When these traces accumulated to a certain degree, the Physique of this Wandering Soul was completely altered. Wang Lin's eyes flickered as he observed it carefully for a long time. From this Wandering Soul, he actually sensed a trace of the feeling he had when he saw Situ Nan's Nascent Soul in the Dream Space.

Or rather, there seemed to be a commonality between the two.

"Go kill him!" Wang Lin pointed his right hand at Lin Tao and commanded.
