Chapter 107 Weird Six-Headed Hand
Yinyin Island is located at the northeasternmost corner of the Congyun Sea. Li Fan spent over twenty days in total to reach its vicinity.
The island was not large and lacked vegetation.
Only a single, perfectly square building stood tall on the island.
From afar, the faint, pained howls of humans could be heard carried by the sea breeze.
"Is Fellow Daoist Yinyin Shangren here?" Li Fan called out loudly.
His voice echoed throughout the entire island, reverberating endlessly.
But after a long while, there was no response.
Li Fan patiently asked again.
Only the shrill roar of the sea breeze answered him.
Li Fan spoke out once more.
Still, there was no reply.
After a moment of contemplation, Li Fan sensed that his Opportunity was indeed located here.
Thus, he cautiously maintained his guard and flew down to land in front of the square building on the island.
This building seemed to be constructed from some kind of dark greenish-black stone. Apart from a large main entrance, there were no other doors or windows around it.
The interior of the door was pitch black; not only light but even Divine Sense was swallowed.
It made it impossible to discern the specific situation inside.
Only intermittent cries and howls continuously emanated from within.
This place exuded an eerie aura, so Li Fan had no choice but to raise his spirits to the highest level and slowly walk inside.
Just as he was about to enter, he suddenly heard a rapid sound.
A creature resembling a small dog dashed out from inside, heading straight to collide with Li Fan.
Li Fan initially thought it was some kind of fierce beast attacking and was about to strike it down.
But his Divine Sense swept over it, revealing that it was merely an ordinary small beast.
As a guest visiting, it was not appropriate to casually kill the host's pet.
So, Li Fan extended his hand, grabbed it by the neck, and picked it up.
Caught off guard, the small beast let out a terrified whimper, trembling all over.
With a 'thud,' the item clutched in the small beast's mouth also dropped to the ground.
Examining the small beast closely in front of his eyes, a chill ran down Li Fan's spine.
The small beast looked very much like a dog, but its four limbs were like human hands.
On its dog-like belly, five or six eye-like objects moved back and forth.
They blinked occasionally, staring intently at Li Fan.
"What is this thing…?" Suppressing the urge to throw it away, Li Fan held it and placed it behind him.
He slowly walked into the darkness.
A moment later, Li Fan, having adjusted to the darkness, could finally see the scene before him.
Contrary to his imagination of a gloomy and terrifying place, the interior was quite tidy.
The ground was also clean, without any bloodstains.
Scattered within were transparent cages, containing many rather bizarre creatures.
These strange creatures were all listlessly sprawled in their cages, not appearing particularly vicious.
Upon seeing someone approach, they remained indifferent.
It seemed as if the cages were one-way transparent, making it impossible to see outside from within.
Among these oddly shaped creatures were giant pythons with two heads, entangled in mutual combat.
Some were shaped like a large disk, covered with tiny maggots, constantly fluttering and swimming in water.
Others were clearly composites of two species, with a sheep's head and a turtle's body.
What made Li Fan most uncomfortable was a monster made of six human heads combined.
Two arms grew from the top of the heads, embedded beneath the previous head.
Thus, one head held up another head.
And the lowest head, at its bottom, grew two small hands.
The entire body of this "six-headed-hand" monster stood upright, resembling a giant insect, crawling in the cage using its lowest small hands as feelers.
As it crawled, the six heads turned in different directions, their pale faces devoid of any expression.
Even in his most terrifying nightmares, Li Fan had never seen such a disgusting monster.
Suppressing the discomfort in his heart, he merely glanced at it and quickly walked past.
…
"I must find you, I must find you…"
Listening closely, deep within the building, a low whisper seemed to repeat continuously.
Li Fan followed the sound further inside until he arrived before a massive rectangular transparent cage.
Four small cells on each side were connected to this rectangular cage.
Each small cell contained a Mortal.
They were connected to strange devices.
It seemed as if something was moving within their bodies, and visible bulges could be seen rapidly shifting on their skin.
Wherever a bulge reached, it caused the flesh to rapidly decay.
But as the bulge moved, some of these decaying areas slowly recovered, while others became even more severe.
In an instant, a black, deep hole formed, revealing the white bones within.
The Mortals' plight was no less than the most cruel execution; they convulsed and wailed on the ground.
Some had completely lost their breath, leaving only a puddle of flesh, still twitching incessantly.
In front of the rectangular transparent cage, a figure stood.
Li Fan looked over and saw that the other party's hair was somewhat disheveled, black and white.
His clothes were also messy and tattered, as if they hadn't been changed in many years.
"I must find you, I must find you…"
That figure stared at the transparent cage in front, as if possessed, continuously murmuring in a low voice.
"Fellow Daoist Yinyin Shangren?"
The other party was indeed at the Foundation Establishment Stage cultivation, and he was the only one here.
Li Fan, keeping some distance, asked aloud.
The other party, however, paid no heed, showing no reaction whatsoever.
"Woof woof woof!"
Just then, the human-handed dog that Li Fan was holding struggled and barked, seemingly calling for help from its owner.
Startled awake by the dog's barking, Yinyin Shangren suddenly turned his head.
Looking at Li Fan, he then realized: "Oh dear! A guest has arrived!"
"Oh dear! A guest has arrived!"
…
Two voices, one after another, sounded, as if echoing within his body before being transmitted outwards.
Li Fan's eyelids twitched slightly.
He released the human-handed dog and bowed, saying, "Greetings, Fellow Daoist!"
As soon as the puppy landed, it whimpered and darted to Yinyin Shangren's feet, constantly rubbing its head against him to please him.
Yinyin Shangren tidied his messy hair, somewhat embarrassed: "I was so engrossed in thought that I didn't hear Fellow Daoist's call, please forgive me!"
Again, two voices strangely sounded one after another. Yinyin Shangren kicked the human-handed dog aside.
He spoke to Li Fan with considerable enthusiasm: "This is not the place for conversation, Fellow Daoist, please come this way!"
As he spoke, a door beside them suddenly opened, and Yinyin Shangren walked in.
The human-handed dog barked happily, trotting after him.
Yinyin Shangren led the way, and as if remembering something, he turned back to Li Fan and said.
"Oh, by the way, I'm not called Yinyin Shangren."
"I'm called Yin Shangren."
"Yin Shangren."
…
Two voices sounded one after another, just like Yinyin Shangren's.
"So that's how it is." Li Fan suddenly understood.
The Cultivators of the Congyun Sea calling him that might not have been without a hint of mockery.
"Greetings, Fellow Daoist Yin Shangren!" Li Fan greeted him again.
Seeing his name called correctly, Yin Shangren was very pleased.
