Chapter 109: Human Emperor (VII)

"Void Realm… Sword Shadows!"

Accompanied by a whisper, Bai Fan's figure slowly emerged from the darkness, his body wreathed in faint Void Power.

The Ghost Emperor and Demon Emperor's pupils constricted sharply as they stared in disbelief at the figure slowly stepping out from the darkness.

"Impossible… How could you…"

"Disappointing for you—I'm not that easy to kill!"

Before his voice had even faded, Bai Fan swung his demon blade like a windmill, and countless Void Realm sword shadows erupted from the blade, layering upon one another.

Each sword shadow emitted a sharp, air-tearing screech that made one's scalp tingle.

The Demon Emperor and Ghost Emperor's eyes widened, and they exchanged glances, their hearts filled with immense shock.

The two instinctively wanted to dodge, but when they realized they had been famous for so long and dominated the winds and clouds, yet were now being intimidated by a mere Core Formation child, it was simply a joke!

"Void Spirit Demon-Suppressing Stele!"

The Ghost Emperor snorted coldly, flipped his palm, and suddenly, a pitch-black stele like the dark night emerged from the Void Realm, blocking the path in front of them.

"Hmph, you think mere sword shadows can harm us?"

The sword shadows layered continuously, relentlessly striking the giant stele.

The flash of blades and shadows drew thrilling arcs in the air.

The stele shook violently, as if enduring unimaginable power, and cracks continuously appeared on its surface.

Low, rumbling sounds echoed in the air as the stele shook, and bright red light burst from the cracks, as if it could shatter at any moment.

"Hold it!"

The Ghost Emperor roared, pouring all his dark power into the Void Spirit Demon-Suppressing Stele, attempting to stabilize the precarious situation.

At that moment, a loud bang suddenly erupted; the stele could no longer withstand the pressure, its cracks instantly expanded, large pieces of rubble splashed outward, and a deafening sound resonated throughout heaven and earth.

"Ah!"

The Demon Emperor and Ghost Emperor were blasted away by the shockwave of the giant stone, their bodies tumbling in the air as they spat out blood.

Their bodies, like kites with broken strings, slammed into the ground in the distance, sending dust flying.

At this moment, Bai Fan was also exhausted.

His face was pale, and the Heavenly Book characters around his body flickered, sometimes shining, sometimes dim, as if about to extinguish.

Even his consciousness was wavering, and the world before his eyes flickered between darkness and light.

Bai Fan smiled bitterly, "Is this all I can achieve, even after overdrawing my life?"

He sat cross-legged, struggling to recover his spiritual power, yet every deep breath felt like it was scorching his lungs, leaving him suffocating.

"Don't let him recover!"

The Ghost Emperor roared, a fierce light flashing in his eyes, his heart filled with urgency as if he had caught the scent of victory.

They had endured for too long; if they did not seize this opportunity, they feared they would never be able to cut Bai Fan down.

"Kill him!"

The Demon Emperor and the Ghost Emperor both lunged toward Bai Fan, filled with anger and hatred, striving to end this battle in one blow.

The air seemed filled with oppression; as they approached, even the light seemed to dim.

The two launched a frenzied attack, their weapons like a violent storm, fierce and ruthless.

Each strike was accompanied by a deafening sound, as if heaven and earth were trembling.

Bai Fan was exhausted, his face pale as paper, his heart filled only with waves of despair.

He used his last ounce of strength to desperately defend, but the Heavenly Book characters flickered, sometimes shining, sometimes dim, just like his wavering resolve.

Even at critical moments, the power of the Heavenly Book could always block some fatal attacks for him at the line of life and death.

But he knew clearly that such defense would not be enough to hold out for long.

"Ah—!"

Following a heart-wrenching scream, the Demon Emperor's attack finally swept in like a violent storm, striking Bai Fan's body heavily.

He felt as if every bone in his body had been shattered, and the intense pain surged like a tide, nearly suffocating him.

"Again!"

The Ghost Emperor followed closely, sneering as he launched another attack.

Each of his strikes was like a heavy iron hammer, violently smashing into Bai Fan, causing him to spray blood, his clothes destroyed, looking extremely wretched.

Bai Fan's body was like a broken ragdoll, with no power to fight back.

He was knocked backward, crashing into a high wall, instantly creating a huge indentation, while surrounding rubble flew up, heading straight toward the crowd watching the battle.

The citizens of the capital watched this scene in terror, their faces full of shock and despair.

They had witnessed him rescue thousands of young girls from the demons, but now they were watching this hero being ruthlessly beaten, covered in wounds and dripping with blood.

"He is fighting for us!"

A young woman's tears welled up, her voice trembling and full of sorrow.

Bai Fan tried his best to stand up, but the pain in his body made it almost unbearable.

The Heavenly Book characters around his body flickered weaker and weaker, as if they might extinguish at any moment.

His heart was filled with a sense of powerlessness, and a metallic, sweet blood surged in his throat, making him realize that his life was ebbing away bit by bit.

He knew he couldn't just fall like this; for the sake of those still expecting him, he had to stand up, he had to keep fighting!

However, as the Demon Emperor and Ghost Emperor's attacks became more frenzied, Bai Fan could barely hold on, his body like a broken vessel, exuding an aura of despair.

This scene felt like a heavy hammer striking the hearts of all the witnessing citizens.

They understood that Bai Fan was fighting with his life to protect them.

And now, they could only helplessly watch it all happen—watching the one who had once used his own blood and life to bring back their dearest ones become so fragile.

"How could it be like this… He was clearly so strong…"

In the crowd, someone sobbed softly, their voice full of choking and pain.

Those rescued girls covered their mouths, their vision already blurred by tears.

"He fought to this extent for us…" an elderly woman muttered to herself, her eyes filled with tears.

She remembered that when her granddaughter was kidnapped, she had cried until she almost fainted, but it was this young man before her who had saved her from despair.

"He gave his all to save us, why treat him like this…"

"Don't die… Don't die…" More crying spread in the night wind, and everyone's heart was deeply pierced.

"Heavenly Dao is unfair… Heavenly Dao is unfair!"

The surrounding cries and wails merged into one.

"Oh Heavens, I beg you to open your eyes, punish these evildoers before us!"

Just amidst the desperate cries of everyone, suddenly, a golden light broke through the thick dark clouds and poured down from the firmament.

The entire world seemed illuminated by this ray of radiance, and all the wailing and crying instantly quieted down.

A crisp, melodious sound of wind chimes drifted over with the wind, like divine music from the Nine Heavens, melodious and heart-stirring.

Everyone looked up and saw, amidst the swaying wind chimes, a graceful figure descending from the sky, her posture light as if dancing on the wind.

It was Princess Zhaoyang.
