Chapter 1110: Peak of the Cloud Sea, Shocking Change
The vast Star Domain was filled with star mist. It appeared quiet, but in reality, the mist contained infinite killing intent. This was the fifth-rank Star Domain of the Cloud Sea, where nearly forty percent of the floating continents belonged to various fifth-rank Sects.
For Star Domains ranging from the first to fourth rank, fifth-rank Sects were insurmountable existences. If a Disciple of a fifth-rank Sect were to visit a fourth-rank Star Domain, they would certainly be met with widespread reverence.
At this moment, within this fifth-rank Star Domain, a whistling sound suddenly broke the peaceful mist sea. It was a long rainbow piercing through. Inside the long rainbow was a Dragon-like Spirit Beast, and standing on the Spirit Beast's head was a solemn Cultivator.
Following this long rainbow, the star mist churned even more violently. Vicious Beasts within scattered in panic, their eyes revealing fright, as several more long rainbows whistled past.
It did not end there. In the short span of time it takes for an incense stick to burn, no less than dozens of long rainbows, moving at extreme speed, tore through the star mist and sped across this fifth-rank Star Domain.
Inside those long rainbows were Spirit Beasts of various appearances, and standing atop the heads or backs of these Spirit Beasts were Cultivators.
Not a single one of these Cultivators belonged to the fifth-rank Star Domain; they all hailed from the sixth-rank Star Domain. Their appearance instantly shook the fifth-rank Star Domain.
This phenomenon was not limited to this location. Across more than six regions of starry space within the fifth-rank Star Domain, the same scene was unfolding. The Cultivators riding the Spirit Beasts inside the long rainbows had dark expressions that concealed ecstasy, excitement, and endless greed.
These Cultivators from the sixth-rank Star Domain had one unified objective: a Barren Continent within the fifth-rank Star Domain!
In the northern part of the Barren Continent where Wang Lin was located, the ground shook. Rumbling sounds approached from afar, as if heavy objects were continuously hitting the ground, causing the mist to churn and surge forward.
Some bird-like Vicious Beasts shrieked and fled through the mist, keeping their distance. On the ground, numerous Vicious Beasts scattered, seemingly terrified by the rumbling sounds emanating from the mist.
A moment later, a gigantic figure, a hundred zhang in size, appeared in the mist. This figure was extremely robust, and as it drew closer, its full form was finally revealed.
A colossal Black Ape!
Behind the Black Ape, ox-like Vicious Beasts pursued madly with bloodshot eyes, churning the mist and kicking up thick clouds of dust from the earth.
Surrounding these ox-like Vicious Beasts were more than seven other types of Vicious Beast groups. They intertwined, forming a long procession, like a beast tide, launching an unrelenting pursuit of the Black Ape ahead.
In the sky, there were even more bird Vicious Beasts chasing frantically. This scene would make anyone's scalp tingle upon sight. Even a Great Divine Ability Cultivator would have their pupils shrink. The sheer number of these Vicious Beasts was overwhelming! Especially since some of them were clearly fifth-rank Vicious Beasts, unleashing Divine Abilities that whistled directly toward the Black Ape ahead.
But the Black Ape was extremely agile, and its body was tough and thick-skinned. Aside from the attacks it dodged, the rest had little effect even when they landed on it.
The Black Ape ran across the ground with its two feet, and the rumbling sounds were precisely the noise of its footsteps! Its speed was astonishing, and gales howled as it ran. There was a mountain ravine ahead; while running, the Black Ape stomped its right foot hard on the ground, seemingly cracking the earth. The Black Ape leaped up, crossed the ravine directly, and charged toward another mountain peak not far away.
With its meteoric strides, it reached the summit of the mountain peak in a few breaths. Countless eagle-shaped Vicious Beasts circled above the peak, all swooping down toward the Black Ape at this moment.
But before they could get close, they instantly collapsed into sprays of blood under the Black Ape's swinging arms. It was as if no Vicious Beast could stop the Black Ape's advance. It charged straight through, instantly climbing to the very top of the peak, where a nest dozens of zhang in size was located.
The Black Ape approached and slammed its right hand forward, striking the nest directly.
With a boom, the nest immediately shattered, scattering into countless fragments and revealing a small red grass growing inside.
The Black Ape's right hand didn't stop. After destroying the nest, it immediately grabbed the mountain rock near the small grass and yanked hard, pulling out the several zhang large rock with crackling sounds.
Letting out a roar toward the sky mixed with a hint of joy, the Black Ape strode off, running into the distance.
Behind it, the eagle-shaped Vicious Beasts shrieked toward the heavens. Over a thousand eagle beasts instantly went mad, joining the beast tide army and chasing after the Black Ape!
The running Black Ape crushed the rock in its hand, exposing the red grass inside. It tossed it toward its shoulder, where Wang Lin, sitting cross-legged, grabbed it, glanced at it, and put it into his Storage Space.
Wang Lin lightly patted the Black Ape's body. The Black Ape immediately sensed it and roared toward the sky again, the sound even more joyful. Its speed also seemed to increase.
The earth trembled. Seen from afar, the Black Ape leaped and bounded, and behind it, dust filled the sky, mixing with the mist, as Vicious Beasts roared incessantly, pursuing relentlessly.
On this Barren Continent, few Cultivators dared to provoke Vicious Beasts in such a manner, let alone brazenly steal medicinal herbs. While a single Vicious Beast might not pose a threat, when they numbered in the tens of thousands, or even over a hundred thousand, the resulting terrifying scene was enough to shock anyone's mind!
From a distance, several Cultivators, also from fifth-rank Sects, stared blankly at the scene, speechless like wooden chickens.
Their group of seven had approached the Barren Continent with extreme caution, fearing they would attract too many Vicious Beasts, and thus had not gathered many medicinal herbs. Seeing the Black Ape's arrogant display now left them utterly shocked.
The Black Ape ran at full speed, leaping hundreds of zhang, and arrived once again at the top of a mountain peak. This peak was like a sword, extremely steep, but the Black Ape moved as swiftly as flight. Upon reaching the summit, it bent down and reached its right hand toward a cluster of flowers growing on the far side of the peak that resembled a ball of mist.
It immediately took the several Mist Flowers.
Just then, a sharp shriek came from the sky. It was a nearly fifty zhang large, eagle-shaped fifth-rank Vicious Beast tearing through the mist, heading straight for the bent-over Black Ape.
Its speed was too fast; in the blink of an eye, it was less than a hundred zhang away!
Wang Lin's expression was calm, acting as if he hadn't noticed. The Black Ape, however, narrowed its eyes. While bent over, its left hand grabbed the peak of the mountain. It swung its body forward, its massive frame tracing a circle around the mountain's sharp summit like a swing. Its thick right foot swept out, instantly colliding with the Black Eagle.
With a crash, the Black Eagle cried out in pain, spraying blood as it retreated. The Black Ape used the force of the collision to leap away, avoiding a prolonged fight, and continued running into the distance.
The Vicious Beasts pursuing it grew even more numerous.
Shi Luoxing sat cross-legged with his eyes closed inside a dark mountain valley. His face was pale, and blood stains were still fresh at the corners of his mouth. His black hair was disheveled, and he looked quite wretched.
Wailing sounds, like the cries of ghosts, drifted near and far, lingering ceaselessly, mixed with bursts of thumping noises. Before long, four stumbling figures returned from the front. As one of them approached Shi Luoxing within three zhang, he spat out a mouthful of blood.
"Master, Third Brother has died in battle. We… we can't break out…" All four were young men, their white robes covered in bloodstains.
Shi Luoxing remained silent, not opening his eyes, only revealing sorrow on his face.
The valley where he and his Disciples were located was filled with mist, permeated by Dead Souls that emitted piercing shrieks. Outside the valley, eight massive skull heads floated, wreathed in green lightning, connected to each other to form a Formation.
This Formation was truly marvelous, drawing upon the concentration of souls that had died on the Barren Continent over countless millennia, transforming them into tangible forms, which then merged with the Formation to become a formidable Divine Ability.
These Dead Souls could not be refined into pills; the Beast Souls required for Alchemy were Living Souls! Dead Souls mostly originated from the resentment of humans or beasts in the instant before death, a resentment that merged with heaven and earth and would not dissipate for a long time.
Sitting cross-legged atop one of the eight skull heads was an old woman. Her skin was withered and wrinkled; she looked like skin and bones, with a vicious expression, resembling a fierce ghost. If a Mortal saw her, they would surely be scared to death. When her eyes opened and closed, faint spectral light flickered, revealing an eerie intent.
"Fellow Daoist Shi, only four of your nineteen Disciples remain. Why continue to endanger the lives of these Disciples? If you hand over that item now, this old woman will leave immediately."
The gloomy voice echoed through the valley, clearly reaching the ears of the five people inside. The four young Cultivators turned pale and looked toward their Master in silence.
"Shi Luoxing, sacrificing your life for an external possession is not worth it. Although your cultivation is high, you have been poisoned by my Five Poisons School. If you use a Divine Ability within a short time, you will certainly die suddenly. Think carefully."
Shi Luoxing's face twitched. He slowly opened his eyes, revealing a sharp glint, but his face held bitterness. As the Head Disciple of the sixth-rank Huaqing Sect, his cultivation had reached the Pure Nirvana Late Stage. This time, following a clue, he had secretly infiltrated the third-rank Star Domain with his Disciples to search for an item.
He had initially doubted the veracity of the clue, but Shi Luoxing never expected it to be true. Everything had gone smoothly, but shortly after finding the item, his whereabouts were somehow exposed. Even the item he took was known to others. He was besieged all along the way, his Disciples suffered heavy casualties, and he himself was afflicted by a strange poison. The poison flared up after he escaped here, forcing him to hide in this valley to expel it.
However, before he could dispel the poison, he was caught by the Poison Hag of the Five Poisons School from the sixth-rank Star Domain, who used her School's great Formation to trap him in the valley. He had already used a secret method to transmit his message, but it would take some time for his Sect's rescuers to arrive.
"Fellow Daoist Shi, even if your Huaqing Sect sends people, it will be useless! As this old woman knows, this time, besides my Five Poisons School, the Yuehun Sect, Daofa School, Dunxing Sect, and Mocong Dao have almost all mobilized from the sixth-rank Star Domain. They are all after the item in your hands!
"The Jade Slip of the eighth-rank Star Domain's Potian Sect, and the Pill Formula for the legendary Nirvana Void Pill!"
