Chapter 1356: Peak of the Cloud Sea, Fishing for Dragons (Third Update)

Wang Lin picked up the wine pot beside him, didn't look at it, and took a large gulp from the mouth.

Once the wine entered his stomach, it immediately transformed into a burst of spiciness that burned from his throat all the way to his abdomen, as if he had swallowed a Fire Dragon. Fine beads of sweat appeared on Wang Lin's forehead, but the moment they emerged, they instantly turned into wisps of white steam and floated away.

The burning sensation did not dissipate; instead, it intensified, instantly spreading throughout his entire body. It made Wang Lin's body feel as if it were burning from the inside out, the scorching power seeming ready to burst forth from within him.

The heat circulated throughout his body, and suddenly, it felt as if a vital force had been injected into Wang Lin's elemental power, causing it to rapidly circulate. Moments later, Wang Lin clearly sensed that the elemental power inside his body had actually increased by a trace.

If that had been all, it would have been fine, but the moment his internal elemental power increased by a trace, the burning sensation doubled again, blazing fiercely inside Wang Lin. Even his hair seemed to catch fire, and waves of heat continuously radiated outward through the pores of his entire body—an astonishing sight!

The flames grew increasingly intense, and in an instant, the Vermilion Bird mark appeared in Wang Lin's left eye. A blue flame erupted from his left eye, covering his entire body and fusing with the internal heat.

A cry of the Vermilion Bird suddenly rose. A blue Vermilion Bird flew out from Wang Lin's left eye, circling outside his body, looking extremely comfortable.

It was not until the time it takes for an incense stick to burn that the Vermilion Bird returned to Wang Lin's left eye and vanished. The heat throughout his body also gradually disappeared. Wang Lin took a deep breath and said:

"Good wine!"

The old man turned to look at Wang Lin, a kind smile appearing on his face. He nodded and looked back at the lake surface.

"Not everyone dares to drink this wine of mine. Even a Third Step Cultivator would hesitate. But you, you just took a large gulp."

"What kind of wine is this?" Wang Lin licked his lips. After that single gulp, he immediately felt that the Fire Origin within his body had thickened slightly. What moved him even more was the power of the flames contained within that mouthful of wine, which brought his next Vermilion Bird Awakening a step closer!

"This is not wine; it is blood." The old man smiled, his expression very amiable.

Wang Lin's gaze narrowed. Just then, violent ripples immediately spread across the calm lake surface, and a muffled roar indistinctly rumbled up from the bottom of the lake.

The clear lake water instantly became murky. Even Divine Sense could not extend half an inch!

The old man laughed heartily. Holding the fishing rod in his right hand, he yanked it outward fiercely. The rod lifted, and under the moonlight, a silver fishing line emitted a dazzling glow. It immediately snapped taut and straight as it twisted, and as the rod lifted, it began to pull directly.

The roar from the bottom of the lake became more intense and drew closer. In an instant, as the fishing line was completely pulled up, a hundred-zhang-sized head was seen, bursting out of the lake surface with a crash!

That hundred-zhang-sized head was clearly a Dragon!! Right in the center of the Dragon's head was a small bump, its color deeper, having already turned brownish-red!

Where was this old man fishing? He was clearly fishing for a Dragon!

The Dragon's head was entirely red, its mouth gaping ferociously with the fishing line inside. In a blink, the Dragon's body extending from the lake surface was a thousand zhang long, obscuring the sky and covering the moon, displaying itself before Wang Lin!

This sudden scene caused Wang Lin's expression to change, and shock appeared in his eyes. In front of the Giant Dragon, Wang Lin was as small as an ant. The crimson long Dragon roared startlingly and violently whipped its body, seemingly trying to break free from the fishing line.

However, the fishing line was made of some unknown material and was extremely tough. No matter how the crimson Giant Dragon struggled, it could not break free even slightly. The old man stood up amidst hearty laughter and yanked the fishing rod backward again, which seemed to intensify the Dragon's roar.

All of this happened in a flash, so fast it was unbelievable!

Just then, the crimson Giant Dragon seemed to realize that escape was hopeless. It suddenly lowered its head, opened its mouth while roaring, and lunged directly toward the old man to swallow him. Before its massive body even approached, a foul wind rushed toward them.

Furthermore, within this foul wind, as the Dragon's head continuously drew closer, an indescribable pressure suddenly erupted from the Giant Dragon's body. The intensity of this pressure shook heaven and earth!

Hit by this pressure, Wang Lin's face instantly turned pale, and his eyes revealed horror! The Giant Dragon was like a massive millstone, capable of grinding all living things to dust. Wang Lin subconsciously retreated a few steps.

"Third Step!!"

He clearly felt that this pressure was in no way inferior to the sensation Daoist Shui had given him back then!

"An overwhelmingly powerful Vicious Beast comparable to a Third Step Cultivator!!" Wang Lin gasped. He couldn't imagine the scene before him. It was one thing for the old man to be fishing for a Dragon instead of a fish, but what he was fishing for was actually a Third Step Dragon!!

The old man laughed loudly, his body flashing as he rose. Holding the fishing rod in his right hand, he raised his left hand and waved it toward the lunging Giant Dragon. Wang Lin clearly saw a burst of flame instantly spreading across the old man's left hand.

This flame seemed illusory, more like a mist of fire! With the old man's wave, and without seeing any Divine Ability being used, an earth-shattering roar immediately sounded. The Giant Dragon immediately let out a mournful shriek, its head violently yanked backward by an invisible force, causing it to roll straight back.

The moment it retreated, a fire mist immediately spread across the part of the Giant Dragon's body that was extended out of the lake. Cracking and burning sounds rose up, shaking heaven and earth. The Giant Dragon's screams became even more mournful, and with a shake of its body, it tried to retreat back to the bottom of the lake.

The old man flicked the fishing rod in his right hand. The line straightened, tightly holding the Giant Dragon, which, just as it was about to retreat to the bottom of the lake, was immediately pulled out several hundred zhang again amidst its screams!

"Damn it, how dare you, a mere Blazing Dragon, try to escape in front of this old man!!" The old man roared. His body flickered in mid-air, and he directly stepped onto the roaring Dragon's head. He raised his left hand and smashed it fiercely toward the Dragon's head!

The moment his left hand was raised, Wang Lin's mind violently shook, and his pupils contracted, revealing shock. He clearly saw that behind the old man, a massive… Vermilion Bird instantly appeared!

Its size far surpassed Wang Lin's Vermilion Bird, covering the sky. Moreover, an ancient aura emanated from the massive Vermilion Bird's body, and an illusory flame enveloped its entire body!

Illusory Fire!

The moment this Vermilion Bird appeared, it immediately cried out to the heavens, letting loose an earth-shattering Vermilion Bird cry!

This sight left Wang Lin dumbfounded. The size of this Vermilion Bird, the power of the flames contained within it, and its sheer strength far surpassed that of the former Vermilion Bird Old Holy Emperor; in fact, there was simply no comparison between the two!

It was like the difference between a young bird and its ancestor!

The old man's left hand suddenly dropped. The moment it descended, the massive illusory figure of the Vermilion Bird behind him immediately surged, condensing directly into his left hand. In an instant, it fused with his left hand. As it descended upon the Dragon's head, from a distance, one could no longer see the old man's left hand; what they saw was distinctly the Vermilion Bird's sharp beak!

Faster than words could describe, in the blink of an eye, the Vermilion Bird's beak slammed onto the bump on the Dragon's head, piercing it directly. A jet of burning blood suddenly sprayed out from within.

"What are you standing around for? Hurry up and use the pot to collect the wine! Do you think this old body of mine can withstand all this trouble?" The old man raised his head and shouted, his voice entering Wang Lin's ears like thunder.

Without hesitation, Wang Lin grabbed the wine pot, his body flashing as he flew up, and immediately collected the jet of blood into the pot. However, the pot had limited capacity. After it was full, there was still a small amount of residual Dragon blood that couldn't be collected, so Wang Lin immediately took out a medicine bottle to catch it.

But the moment the medicine bottle touched the blood, it instantly melted, proving incapable of holding it!

All of this happened in an instant. Seeing that the small amount of remaining Dragon blood could not be collected and was about to fall into the lake below, Wang Lin knew how precious this blood was. His eyes widened, and without time to think, he immediately rushed forward, opening his mouth and fiercely inhaling.

With that inhale, he immediately sucked all the residual Dragon blood that was about to fall onto the lake surface directly into his mouth. This single gulp was equivalent to about three of the large gulps he had taken earlier.

Seeing Wang Lin's actions, the old man beamed happily. His body flashed, and he immediately left the Dragon's head. He flicked the fishing rod in his right hand, reeling in the fishing line, and as he left the Dragon's head, his right foot stomped down.

The Giant Dragon was extremely furious but dared not roar. Using the force of the old man's stomp, it quickly dove into the lake surface, sped away, and vanished without a trace.

"Good, worthy of being a member of my Vermilion Bird clan. You know that waste is shameful!" The old man laughed heartily and landed beside Wang Lin.

After swallowing the Dragon blood, Wang Lin's body was currently filled with monstrous flames, and his complexion was flushed red. He had no time to pay attention to the old man, immediately sitting down cross-legged, circulating his elemental power to rapidly refine the blood.

The old man stood next to Wang Lin, his gaze sweeping over him, a satisfied smile on his face.

"I thought I wouldn't see any more juniors of the clan, but unexpectedly, I've found another one. Looking at his Vermilion Bird Awakening, he is only one step away from reaching the Illusory Fire Realm. This child is extraordinary!

He must be the Sixth Generation Vermilion Bird of my clan… Not bad, not bad!" The more the old man looked, the happier he became. He even squatted down, pinched Wang Lin's face a few times with his right hand, and then reached into Wang Lin's clothes, carefully patting every part of Wang Lin's body.

"Hmm, he is indeed a member of my Vermilion Bird clan, no mistake about it, not created by an enemy. But this little fellow's Physical Body is actually an Ancient God… Haha, interesting, interesting!" Excitement showed in the old man's eyes.

"The Fourth Generation Little Vermilion Bird was too frivolous and couldn't cultivate my Divine Ability. This Sixth Generation little fellow looks cold, so he should be able to…" The old man was patting Wang Lin's body when he suddenly froze.

"The Primordial Spirit Yang has actually been broken too… I…" The old man's face showed resentment, and he sighed deeply. He stopped patting and sat down beside him.

"These juniors nowadays… every single one of them… Alas… back in my day, I had composure; my Primordial Spirit Yang is still intact."

I'm currently writing the Fourth Update, but I'm stuck. Getting stuck at a critical moment is making me very frustrated right now.
