Chapter 157 Poison
Inside the Alchemy Room of the Azure Flame Manor in Liucheng, Qin Ming stood in an open space, refining pills for his younger sister, Qin Qing.
Elder Qing was observing carefully from the side, while Qin Qing's eyes were fixed on the spiritual plants flying in the air, her mouth practically watering.
"Condense!" Qin Ming casually formed a hand seal, and the liquid in the air instantly began to solidify.
Perfect-grade pills flew towards Qin Ming, dazzling Elder Qing.
"Amazing, a hundred pills at once."
Elder Qing exclaimed.
If all alchemists were as skilled as Qin Ming, then pills would truly be like candy.
"Elder Qing, how is Patriarch Ouyang doing?" Qin Ming asked Elder Qing, as he carefully placed the pills into jade bottles.
Elder Qing shook his head and replied, "There's nothing I can do."
"Hmm?" Qin Ming looked at Elder Qing in surprise.
Others might not know, but he did.
Elder Qing was a Pill King; a small illness should be easily dealt with, so why would he say there was nothing he could do?
"Patriarch Ouyang isn't sick," Elder Qing explained, "He's been poisoned.
Furthermore, he's been poisoned multiple times with several different types of poison. That's why I'm powerless."
Poisoned with several kinds of poison?
Qin Ming nodded, no wonder Elder Qing couldn't do anything.
With several different poisons, each with a different toxicity, he would need to concoct several different antidotes.
And concocting pills takes time, which Patriarch Ouyang clearly didn't have, hence Elder Qing's helplessness.
"It must have been someone very close to him who poisoned him!" Qin Ming said.
Elder Qing nodded and replied, "Of course, for someone to be given another poison after already being poisoned, only a close relative could do it."
Poisons cannot be mixed, as they can conflict with each other, so they must be administered separately.
After Patriarch Ouyang discovered he was poisoned, he would definitely have been extremely careful with his diet.
Yet he was still poisoned, which could only mean that someone very close to him wanted to harm him, deliberately administering more poison after he had already been incapacitated.
"Brother, give me the pills quickly." Qin Qing had long since grown impatient.
Heaven and earth could wait; her candy was the most important.
"Here, for you." Qin Ming chuckled as he handed over the 'candy', admonishing, "You need to be careful with these candies."
"I know, there are only a hundred of them. If I don't ration them, I'll finish them in no time." Qin Qing carelessly took the jade bottle and strode out the door.
Shaking his head, Qin Ming knew that his sister was aware they were discussing important matters and left so as not to disturb him.
She was at an age where she needed company, but she also knew that the Qin family was in a precarious situation, and she couldn't help, nor did she want to be a burden.
"Mixed toxins!" Qin Ming frowned and said, "What grade are these toxins?"
To be able to poison a Great Martial Master, these toxins had to be at least third-grade poisons.
"There are a few second-grade, and two third-grade!" Elder Qing replied.
"I see!" Qin Ming said, "Then let's refine the antidote pills!"
Refine antidote pills?
How could he detoxify different poisons, and Qin Ming hadn't even heard him specify which poisons Patriarch Ouyang had been afflicted with, right?
Qin Ming didn't know what Elder Qing was thinking; he was busy selecting the necessary spiritual plants from Elder Qing's designated storage area.
Elder Qing occasionally researched spiritual plants, so for convenience, he kept some commonly used ones nearby for easy selection.
