Chapter 16 Disciple

Under that gaze, Wang Lin immediately felt as if his entire body, inside and out, had become transparent, completely seen through by the other party.

The Elder frowned; he had not discovered anything unusual about Wang Lin, so he asked in a deep voice: "Wang Lin, when did you return?"

Wang Lin's heart had been pounding from that gaze just now, so he hurriedly said: "Disciple returned last night. This morning, I heard from Senior Brother Liu at the Miscellaneous Duties Office that you were looking for me, so I came over immediately."

Elder Sun's expression was gloomy. Without a word, he grabbed Wang Lin and took a step; suddenly, a seven-colored auspicious cloud appeared, and they headed straight for Wang Lin's residence.

The speed was too fast, and Wang Lin even felt a sense of suffocation. Fortunately, it did not take long to reach his residence. After tossing Wang Lin to the side, Elder Sun swept his Divine Sense across the room.

"Eh?" Elder Sun moved, arriving at Wang Lin's bedside. With a large hand, he grabbed and pulled out the Gourd containing spring water from the luggage under the bed.

Wang Lin appeared normal on the surface, but his heart skipped a beat. His mind raced, searching for an excuse.

Elder Sun examined it carefully for a long time, his expression shifting slightly. After a short while, he stared at Wang Lin and said in a low voice: "Wang Lin, what is inside this Gourd?"

Wang Lin hurriedly feigned ignorance: "Elder, this Gourd contains spring water from the mountain. This spring water is magical; whenever I am tired, I drink it and immediately feel refreshed. I read in a book when I was young that anything belonging to an Immortal is good, but I didn't expect even the spring water to be so miraculous. Elder, if you want this spring water, the Miscellaneous Duties Office has ten large vats of it—water vats as big as a room, all of which I carried down from the mountains."

Elder Sun opened the lid of the Gourd and sniffed it; his expression changed drastically, and he said urgently: "Who asked you about the spring water? Tell me, where did you find this Gourd? Speak quickly!"

Wang Lin was stunned and asked foolishly: "Elder, is there a problem with this Gourd? When I was carrying water, I saw it floating down from upstream. I thought it looked nice, so I fished it out."

Elder Sun narrowed his eyes and gave Wang Lin a meaningful look. Caressing the Gourd in his hand, he thought to himself: "The Spiritual Qi inside this Gourd is extremely abundant. Although a Mortal who drinks the spring water soaked within won't be able to absorb it through breathing, they will still feel refreshed; he didn't lie about that. However, it is truly a waste for him to use it. If it were used to refine Medicinal Pills, the effect would surely be excellent. As for the withering of the Blue-Thread Grass and the Purple-Night Flower, it is very likely related to this Gourd; perhaps there is some principle of mutual generation and restraint between them, but all of this will only be known after testing."

Thinking of this, his expression suddenly shifted. He stared intently at the Gourd, then put on a stern face and glared gloomily at Wang Lin, saying: "Wang Lin, you have a lot of nerve to dare deceive an Elder. It seems you have had enough of staying in the Hengyue School!"

A look of confusion appeared on Wang Lin's face, and he hurriedly said: "Elder, I did not lie to you; the Miscellaneous Duties Office really does have ten large vats of spring water…"

Before he could finish, Elder Sun laughed in anger and said: "You are still playing dumb with me. I am asking about this Gourd. The vine on this Gourd clearly looks like it was recently broken off, yet you say you found it in the spring water. Wang Lin, I will give you one last chance. Tell me where you obtained this Gourd, otherwise, I will expel you from the Hengyue School today!"

Anger welled up on Wang Lin's face, and he wore an expression of having nothing to lose as he shouted: "Leave then, so be it! In the Hengyue School, I do nothing but carry water every day. Furthermore, with those ten large vats of water, I often can't even eat a single meal a week. If it weren't for the sweet potatoes my mother brought me, I would have starved to death long ago. This is not Cultivating, it is purely coming here to suffer. I finally managed to fish this Gourd out of the water; if you want it, just take it. Why accuse me of lying? Whether or not there is a vine on this Gourd, what does that have to do with me? Perhaps someone else broke it off and threw it into the spring water. You ask me, but who am I supposed to ask!"

Elder Sun glanced at the remaining sweet potatoes in the luggage, then looked at the Gourd in his hand. He pondered for a moment and sneered inwardly: "I am determined to have this Gourd, but snatching a treasure from a Named Disciple and forcing him to leave would sound truly terrible if it got out. My reputation within the School would be ruined. Moreover, if other fellow Disciples found out about this, they would definitely come to carve up the spoils, and I don't have the ability to compete with them. I absolutely cannot let them know about this. Besides, this kid still isn't telling the truth; there must be more than one of these Gourds. If I can get them all, my cultivation will definitely increase by a large margin after refining Medicinal Pills."

Thinking of this, he pondered for a moment, then immediately put on a look of surprise and sighed: "You poor child, suffering so much that you can't even eat a meal a week. I didn't know about this before, but since I know now, I will definitely handle it. After all, a Named Disciple is also a Disciple of the Hengyue School!"

After speaking, he saw that Wang Lin still looked furious. He sneered inwardly, but said kindly: "Wang Lin, I will take this Gourd, but I won't treat you unfairly. Are you willing to become my attendant?"

Wang Lin replied in a muffled voice: "I am not willing. An attendant is just a servant. If my father knew I was working as a servant for someone else, he would surely beat me to death."

Elder Sun almost lost his temper and wanted to beat him to death with one palm before his father could. He had to know that even though he was among the lowest of the second-generation Disciples, if he were to announce that he was taking an attendant, every Named Disciple in the School would be fighting tooth and nail for the chance.

Suppressing his anger, he said testily: "Fine, I will take you as a Disciple. I will go tell the Sect Leader about this matter now. You pack your own luggage and wait at my garden." After speaking, he flicked his sleeve, walked out of Wang Lin's room, stepped onto an auspicious cloud, and headed straight for where the Sect Leader was located.

After he left, Wang Lin's expression suddenly turned gloomy. He sneered inwardly; this old guy had ulterior motives. Ostensibly, he was taking him as a Disciple, but in reality, he wanted to obtain more Gourds.

Wang Lin pondered for a moment, then chuckled softly, thinking to himself: "It's just a Gourd, right? There are plenty of them in the mountains. When the time comes, I can just soak them with the bead, and it will be done. Since I can become an Inner Sect Disciple now, I must take this opportunity to Cultivate properly."

Thinking of this, he felt very excited. He packed his luggage, left plenty of sweet potatoes for Zhang Hu, and then walked toward the main courtyard unhurriedly.

This time, he didn't even register; he walked straight into the main courtyard. The young man in white was sitting cross-legged on a large tree in the corner. He looked down but did not stop him. He had just received the news released by the Sect Leader that Junior Martial Uncle Sun had taken Wang Lin as a Disciple, so he mocked to himself: "A trash Master taking a trash Disciple—it is indeed a fitting match."
