Chapter 16: Speak, or Die Now
"You… are you a human or a ghost!?"
Cai Feng was terrified, trembling like a sieve, his teeth chattering loudly.
"That's not important."
Su Lang's smile remained unchanged. "What's important is that you're about to die!"
With that, Su Lang flicked his wrist, and the sharp blade immediately drew a line of blood across Cai Feng's neck.
"No! Don't kill me! I was forced to!"
Cai Feng felt his neck was about to be cut open and was immediately scared out of his wits, begging for mercy repeatedly.
If not for Su Lang's Tang Blade against his neck, he would have kowtowed.
"Forced to?"
Su Lang raised an eyebrow. "Was someone instructing you?"
"Yes, it was a mission assigned by our Vice Gang Leader!"
Seeing a glimmer of hope for survival, Cai Feng quickly replied, "Otherwise, we wouldn't dare to act in the city, and certainly not with such heavy hands!"
"Why would he order you to attack an ordinary person like me?"
Su Lang frowned. His predecessor's parents had no enemies during their lives, nor did they leave behind anything worth coveting after their deaths.
"I don't know that either."
Cai Feng said with a mournful face, "We were just following orders. Please spare me!"
"Hmph."
Su Lang snorted noncommittally. "One more question: did something happen at your stronghold?"
"You, how did you know?"
Cai Feng was startled by the question. The events at their stronghold had not been leaked at all, as it concerned a precious medicinal herb!
"As expected… tell me, what happened."
Su Lang's lips curled into a smile. "If you satisfy me, I'll spare your dog life."
"I… I'll die if I leak it too!"
Cai Feng swallowed with difficulty, a hint of hesitation appearing on his face.
"Speak, or die now!"
Su Lang flicked his Tang Blade, and the bloodline on Cai Feng's neck immediately split open, a stream of fresh blood flowing out.
"Don't! I'll tell you!"
Cai Feng trembled with fear and stammered, "Our stronghold discovered a 5th-grade main medicinal herb, but it's guarded by a pair of quasi E-grade Wind Wolves. All the guards and experts from the stronghold have gone there."
After speaking, Cai Feng's face turned ashen. He knew that if the gang members found out about the leak, endless torture awaited him.
"5th-grade main medicinal herb?"
Su Lang's eyes lit up. "That's a precious medicinal ingredient that can be used to refine 5th-grade Medicinal Pills!"
The higher the grade of the Medicinal Pill, the more its value increases by 7, 8, or even 10 times. Even the lowest 5th-grade Medicinal Pill is worth seven or eight hundred gold coins!
And the precious medicinal herb, as the main ingredient for the Medicinal Pill, accounts for at least half of the Medicinal Pill's value, which is about 400 gold coins!
This was an unparalleled temptation for Su Lang, who urgently needed money to upgrade his System functions.
"Tell me, where is the 5th-grade main medicinal herb located?"
Su Lang asked gently, a smile on his face, to Cai Feng.
"It's in Gourd Valley, directly west of the stronghold. It takes more than half an hour to get there."
Cai Feng said tremblingly, "That's all I know. Please let me go."
"One last question."
Su Lang asked seriously, "When did the experts in the stronghold leave?"
"They, they just left recently…"
Cai Feng nodded, then his eyes widened, revealing an expression of disbelief. "You're not planning to take advantage of their absence, are you?
You're an ordinary person; it was pure luck that you subdued me. If you dare to go to the stronghold, you'll surely die!"
"An ordinary person? I was, half a day ago." Su Lang smiled faintly.
"Half… half a day ago?"
Cai Feng stared with eyes full of fear and shock. "You've had a Breakthrough to Body Tempering? But you're only Primary…"
"No need for you to worry."
Su Lang moved his knife. "Describe the stronghold's layout, and I'll let you go."
"Yes, yes…"
Cai Feng's eyes flickered.
Then he quickly began to describe the layout of the stronghold's buildings.
He described it in great detail, even revealing a secret passage leading into the stronghold's interior.
Although most of the stronghold's experts had gone to deal with the quasi E-grade Wind Wolves, in Cai Feng's opinion, the Intermediate Body Tempering cultivators remaining in the stronghold were not something Su Lang, a Primary Body Tempering cultivator, could handle!
If Su Lang really entered the stronghold, he would surely go and never return, unable even to escape!
