Chapter 166: Seizing the Hurricane Group

Meng Tuozi's body was swept up by the Heaven-Reaching Hurricane and vanished into the Vortex, hatred drowning him like a rising tide.

Wang Lin instantly turned into a streak of smoke and quickly left the Hurricane Group far behind. Although there were scattered hurricanes around, they rapidly approached Wang Lin, attempting to block his path just as they had blocked Meng Tuozi earlier.

Wang Lin sneered, his gaze calm and unwavering. The moment those hurricanes surrounded him, one of them suddenly accelerated, frantically rushed to Wang Lin's side, enveloped him, and then quickly broke out of the encirclement of the other hurricanes, spinning rapidly toward the distance.

This scene happened too quickly; the other hurricanes didn't even react. Even if they had reacted, given their limited intelligence, they wouldn't have been able to distinguish the difference.

Wang Lin stood inside the hurricane, rapidly flying toward the massive Vortex high in the distance. The moment he had rushed out of the hurricane earlier, he had secretly controlled the Second Devil Head to enter a nearby hurricane and seize command.

Now that everything was going smoothly, escaping naturally became easy and swift.

The Beast King inside the Heaven-Reaching Hurricane coldly scanned the distance, its gaze finally landing on the hurricane Wang Lin was in. A look of confusion appeared on its face, but soon after, it let out a sharp howl, and immediately, the surrounding hurricanes chased after Wang Lin.

As for the Beast King, it looked strangely at Meng Tuozi, whom it had captured inside the hurricane, and quickly moved, slowly disappearing in the opposite direction from Wang Lin.

The speed of these hurricanes varied greatly. Hurricanes with a large number of Small Beasts were naturally faster. As a result, they formed almost a straight line as they pursued Wang Lin. The hurricane Wang Lin chose had a decent number of Small Beasts, so its speed was also considerable.

Although the hurricanes behind him were closing in, Wang Lin showed no fear. He silently calculated in his mind, his eyes finally fixing on a few of the faster hurricanes behind him. He opened his mouth and spat out a beam of crystalline light. The Flying Sword flashed out within the hurricane and instantly teleported toward the hurricane Wang Lin was targeting.

The extreme realm Divine Sense was contained within the Flying Sword. Wang Lin's target was not the vast army-like Small Beasts, but rather the commanders within those hurricanes.

Under the effect of the extreme realm Divine Sense and the sharpness of the crystalline Flying Sword, the crystalline light flashed, and one of the hurricanes Wang Lin had secretly marked suddenly collapsed, stopping its rotation. The Small Beasts inside scattered in confusion, each one wearing a puzzled expression.

Wang Lin did not hesitate. Without a word, he continuously pointed his fingers through the air, and immediately, crystalline light flashed repeatedly within the pursuing Hurricane Group. More than half of the hurricanes Wang Lin had targeted instantly collapsed.

Seeing signs that Divine Sense was condensing among the pursuing hurricanes behind him, he decisively summoned his right hand, and the crystalline Flying Sword immediately flashed back. It wasn't that Wang Lin didn't want to continue killing enemies, but after this engagement, those Small Beasts would surely be guarded. Before, he had relied on surprise, but now, if he continued, the moment the Flying Sword emerged, the concentrated Divine Sense of the enemy would immediately descend upon it.

He certainly didn't want to end up like Meng Tuozi, whose Lifebound Treasure was shattered in two during the fight.

A cold sneer played on Wang Lin's lips. After retrieving the Flying Sword, he continued to flee. Soon, the distance between them widened. The hurricanes Wang Lin had chosen earlier were all relatively large and slightly faster than the average.

All this sounds slow, but it happened extremely quickly. In the blink of an eye, the distance between the two parties had widened. At this point, the Divine Sense of those Small Beasts had finished condensing, and streaks of lightning crackled toward him.

Wang Lin's eyes remained calm. The moment the Divine Sense attacks arrived, he issued a command to the Second Devil Head. Immediately, the Small Beasts controlled by the Second Devil Head all turned their heads backward, emitting shrill screams into the air, causing ripples of sound waves to spread out.

This sonic attack, while creating a wave of Qi, also violently propelled Wang Lin's hurricane outward. This sudden increase in speed caused the Divine Sense attacks to miss. By the time they relocked and prepared to attack again, Wang Lin's hurricane had already flown a great distance.

The massive Vortex in mid-air was clearly visible. Wang Lin's eyes flickered. If he hadn't planned to seize Meng Tuozi's treasure earlier, he probably would have safely entered the second layer by now.

Even now, if he abandoned the protection of the hurricane and used its momentum to rush out quickly, he would have an eighty percent certainty of safely entering the Vortex. However, Wang Lin did not intend to do that.

He didn't know what kind of difficulty the second trial held. If he rashly charged in alone, he likely wouldn't have the same luck as in the first trial, where someone cleared the way for him.

Given this, Wang Lin, who was naturally cautious, decided to focus on the hurricanes pursuing him. Wang Lin's idea was that it would be best to bring some hurricanes into the second trial. This way, his safety in the second trial would be somewhat guaranteed.

With this plan in mind, he naturally couldn't proceed alone. He looked back carefully at the Hurricane Group behind him. After a short silence, he decisively gritted his teeth and issued a command to the Second Devil Head via Divine Sense. Immediately, the speed of the hurricane slowed down.

As soon as his speed dropped, the Hurricane Group roaring behind him naturally sped up, instantly closing the distance to less than fifty zhang. At the same time, various Divine Sense and sonic attacks bombarded him successively.

At this moment, the hurricane Wang Lin was in was extremely close to the massive Vortex in mid-air, also less than fifty zhang away. At this distance, if the hurricane flew at full speed, it would only take one breath (xi).

This meant that the Hurricane Group behind him would also need one breath to catch up, and two breaths to enter the Vortex.

During the first breath, Wang Lin took an item out of his Storage Pouch. His hurricane was struck by the Divine Sense condensing from the rear. This time, he did not suddenly accelerate but stopped, using the Divine Sense of the Small Beasts within the hurricane to resist the attack.

In just one breath, more than half of the entities within Wang Lin's hurricane had died.

Wang Lin's gaze was calm, without the slightest panic. At this point, he was even closer to the Vortex. Simultaneously, the hurricanes behind him had caught up.

During the second breath, Wang Lin's eyes flashed, and his body shot out of the hurricane like an arrow released from a bowstring. The Hurricane Group behind him roared forward, and sonic attacks followed immediately. Sharp, piercing screams thundered overwhelmingly from the Hurricane Group.

The moment Wang Lin left the hurricane, everyone inside, except for the Second Devil Head, died.

At this moment, Wang Lin's body was already standing inside the Vortex. The pursuing hurricanes behind him had also plunged deep into the Vortex. The speed of those hurricanes suddenly halted, and some of the ones in the rear immediately tried to retreat.

But how could Wang Lin let them succeed? He stared at the forty-plus hurricanes and shouted, "Stay here for me!"

As he spoke, Wang Lin's spiritual energy suddenly flowed into the item he had taken out of his Storage Pouch during the first breath. Instantly, a circular halo spread out with him at the center, enclosing all the surrounding hurricanes.

Simultaneously, an Azure Dragon phantom materialized from the Jade Slip and, under Wang Lin's control, rotated around the halo. At this very moment, purple electric lights flashed within the Vortex due to Wang Lin's intrusion. These electric lights landed on Wang Lin's body and, following his form, completely enveloped the entire defensive halo, rapidly pulling it inward.

In the blink of an eye, the forty-plus hurricanes, along with the halo, were all pulled into the Vortex, slowly disappearing without a trace.

At this point, the other hurricanes, which were almost forming a straight line behind, also caught up. However, the moment they touched the Vortex, they were violently repelled. The hurricanes gathered more and more, but after multiple attempts, they were still unable to enter the Vortex, and slowly, they dispersed.

The first trial, the Earth Element Land, gradually returned to peace. Only in one location within it, Meng Tuozi floated mid-air, his body a bloody mess. His eyes were vacant and lifeless. In front of him was the Beast King's body, over three zhang tall. At this moment, the half-golden finger bone on the Beast King's forehead was rapidly flashing, slowly emerging from within.

It tapped Meng Tuozi's glabella… Returning to Wang Lin, the moment he emerged from the Vortex area, he immediately spread out his Divine Sense. After a cautious inspection, he couldn't help but be stunned. The area displayed before him was a gray, hazy world, with nothing but an Arched Long Bridge made of black stones.

Wang Lin retracted his Divine Sense and turned to look behind him. His Azure Dragon Defensive Halo was still active. Inside it, forty-plus hurricanes spun wildly, emitting whistling sounds and crashing into the surrounding halo.

With every impact, the halo dimmed slightly. Wang Lin coldly snorted, and without hesitation, retracted the defensive Formation. The moment the halo and the Azure Dragon phantom vanished, the forty-plus hurricanes immediately scattered with a roar.

Simultaneously, Wang Lin pointed his right hand, and the Second Devil Head immediately materialized, letting out a challenging scream toward these hurricanes.

The hurricanes instantly paused. A Small Beast flew out from one of the hurricanes and collided with the Second Devil Head. Wang Lin watched the scene calmly. This was something he had calculated beforehand. The reason he hadn't allowed the Second Devil Head to challenge them in the first trial was that there were too many hurricanes pursuing them; they couldn't stop. Once a challenge began, it would only attract more hurricanes. If the Second Devil Head failed the challenge at that point, there would be no retreat, even if he wanted to run.

But now that there were only forty-plus hurricanes, everything was naturally different.

Three days later, Wang Lin stood beside the black stone bridge, gazing into the distance. Behind him, forty-two hurricanes whistled and spun, densely connected together. If one looked closely, they could see that they were all revolving around a central hurricane, connected by threads of red electric light.

The spirit controllers inside these hurricanes had all been fused by the Second Devil Head. However, under Wang Lin's coercion, the Divine Sense it had fused was completely separated and collected by Wang Lin into the Soul Flag, to be used later for creating more Devil Heads.

This measure was taken to prevent the Second Devil Head from fusing too much and thus escaping his control.
