Chapter 1793: Ice and Fire
Under the command of the Golden-haired Wolf King, numerous Jifeng Wolves quickly formed an irregular encirclement, surrounding Ye Bufan and Du Lang.
Luo Yudie couldn't help but feel a surge of tension as she looked at the Jifeng Wolves a few meters away. After all, she was just a woman, and the thought of possibly being torn to shreds soon filled her with an inexplicable fear.
Ye Bufan squeezed her sweaty hand and said, "Don't be afraid. You have me and Ye Erlang here."
He wasn't particularly nervous. Ye Erlang's strength was comparable to a Peak Soul Transformation Stage cultivator, and he didn't care about these ordinary Jifeng Wolves at all. Even the Golden-haired Wolf King would definitely not be a match for Ye Erlang.
Moreover, he still had the particle gun, a powerful weapon. At most, he would have to expose his secret, but there would certainly be no danger.
"Woof!" cried the Golden-haired Wolf King.
The Golden-haired Wolf King stood on the mountainside, like a king looking down on the world. After its roar, the Jifeng Wolves quickly launched their attack, like a storm, pouncing on Du Lang and Ye Bufan.
The combat effectiveness of well-trained soldiers is absolutely different from that of a disorganized mob. With the command of the Golden-haired Wolf King, these Jifeng Wolves advanced and retreated in an orderly fashion, no longer chaotic as before, and their attack power instantly increased several times over.
Du Lang cut down a Jifeng Wolf that was pouncing from the front with a single sword, while two giant wolves had already pounced from his left and right sides.
Fortunately, his cultivation was strong enough. He first punched one away, then cut down the other with his sword.
However, his guards did not possess such combat power. They were only in the Early Stage of Soul Transformation, and dealing with one Jifeng Wolf was easy enough, and they could handle two.
But the Jifeng Wolves before them were simply countless. Not only were they fearless, but they also advanced and retreated in an orderly manner. When one launched an attack, there would always be several others cooperating.
This had already exceeded their endurance. In just a few breaths, a guard was dragged into the wolf pack by a Jifeng Wolf and was instantly torn to shreds before he could even scream.
"Everyone, quickly retreat and tighten your formation! Don't even think about escaping anymore; that will only lead to a quicker death!"
As the Grand Manager of Jubao Pavilion, Du Lang still had some brains and insight. He realized that in the current situation, being able to stay alive was already good enough, and there was absolutely no chance of escape.
He immediately gathered the remaining few subordinates to retreat, forming a circle with their backs against each other, facing outwards, barely fending off the attacks of these Jifeng Wolves.

On the other side, Ye Erlang was much more relaxed. His speed was fast, and his defensive ability was strong. He didn't need to worry about the attacks of the Jifeng Wolves at all, punching every approaching giant wolf into a bloody mist.
In almost the blink of an eye, dozens of Jifeng Wolves had died at his hands.
Seeing Ye Erlang's powerful combat strength, Luo Yudie finally let out the breath she had been holding, but her hand still tightly gripped her precious sword.
The Golden-haired Wolf King observed the battle from the hillside. Seeing its subordinates suffering heavy casualties, it let out another roar.
"Woof!"
Soon, the Jifeng Wolves besieging this side slowly retreated, forming a circle about five or six meters in diameter, glaring menacingly from outside but no longer launching attacks.
"Alright, I told you, there's no need to be afraid with Ye Erlang here."
Ye Bufan said, flipping his wrist, and a golden-fried chicken leg appeared in his hand. "Come, have something to eat."
"It smells so good!"
The rich aroma eased Luo Yudie's tension. She reached out and took the chicken leg, first sniffing it, then taking a small bite. A rich meaty flavor filled her mouth.
"Oh my, how was this chicken leg made? How can it be so delicious?"
Her delicate and pretty Face was full of shock and enjoyment. In all these years, she had never eaten such a delicious chicken leg.
"If it's delicious, eat more. It's even better with this."
Ye Bufan said, taking out a can of beer and throwing it over. Then he also took out a chicken leg and a can of beer for himself, sitting on the ground and eating heartily.
Luo Yudie imitated him, opened the beer, and then took a small sip.
Then a look of surprise appeared on her Face again: "What is this? It tastes strange, like wine but not wine, but it's still quite good to drink."
"This is beer with fried chicken, a perfect match. Eat up!"
The two of them hadn't eaten since morning and were hungry, so they began to devour the delicious food.
On the other side, it was a tale of two extremes. Although Du Lang and his guards were gathered together, the Jifeng Wolves were simply too powerful and numerous.
After a few rounds, he had lost another guard, and the remaining few were all severely wounded. Even he himself was covered in blood.
"Grand Manager, quickly think of a solution! I can't hold on anymore."

A guard next to him shouted breathlessly.
Du Lang felt a surge of despair. What could he do? He couldn't fight them off, nor could he escape. Most critically, he saw no hope, and there were no reinforcements at all.
He once again knocked away a pouncing Jifeng Wolf, then suddenly smelled a fragrance. Turning his head, his eyeballs almost popped out of their sockets.
He saw Ye Bufan and Luo Yudie sitting on a large rock, taking turns enjoying the delicious food.
Meanwhile, they were fighting for their lives, potentially becoming food for the Jifeng Wolves at any moment.
The disparity was simply too great, making him feel an urge to spit blood.
Why weren't these wolves attacking them? Seeing Ye Erlang standing nearby, glaring menacingly, and the ground covered with wolf corpses, Du Lang instantly understood that their powerful expert could suppress the enemy.
"Younger Brother Ye, please help us quickly! Save us!"
Seeing his subordinates dwindling and knowing that he himself would eventually become wolf dung, Du Lang could no longer care about Face and immediately bowed his head in plea.
Ye Bufan threw the empty beer can aside, took another big bite of the chicken leg, and then glanced in his direction.
"Why should I save you? Are we close?"
"I… Younger Brother Ye, we are together…"
"Stop! We are not together!" Before he could finish, Ye Bufan interrupted him, "Grand Manager Du, is your memory not very good?
Just now, you personally said that I was just a stranger, unrelated to you, and I have no duty or obligation to protect you."
"I…"
Du Lang was speechless, his cheeks burning. He had personally said those words to Luo Yudie just now, and he hadn't expected them to come back to haunt him so quickly.
But the difference was that the previous bandits were fake, while these Jifeng Wolves were real and could take their lives at any moment.
"Mr. Ye, please be the bigger person and don't hold it against me. Please save me, we really can't hold on anymore."
Du Lang desperately resisted the Jifeng Wolves' attacks while continuously begging.
Ye Bufan, however, ignored him completely. He reached out and took out an oil-paper package containing two fragrant braised pig trotters.
"Sister, try this; it tastes very good."
