Chapter 187: Biluo Waves
It took ten full days to fly from the Ice and Snow Plains to the Biluo Sea.
Su Yun traveled with Fairy Zixia, Shadow Two, and Shadow Five, moving swiftly without stopping much.
Shadow Five kept a straight face all day, never saying a word, and always lagged behind.
Shadow Two was talkative, but she would always peek at Su Yun's expression before speaking; if he didn't respond, she would immediately shut up.
On the evening of the tenth day, they finally arrived at the Biluo Sea.
The sea surface was calm as a mirror, and the setting sun dyed the water a golden red.
Su Yun landed on a reef by the sea.
Shadow Two pointed to a small island in the distance and whispered, "Shadow Six's stronghold is on that island."
The island was not large, only a few miles in circumference, covered in coconut trees whose shadows swayed gently in the sea breeze.
Su Yun asked, "What does Shadow Six usually do?"
"He likes to fish," Shadow Two replied. "Every afternoon, he sits on the reef by the island and fishes, regardless of wind or rain."
Su Yun nodded. "Then we will act when he is fishing."
The next afternoon, Su Yun took only Shadow Two to sneak onto the island, while Shadow Five and Fairy Zixia remained outside to provide backup.
The two walked south along the reefs by the island, and before long, a figure appeared in front of them.
A middle-aged man sat on a reef, holding a fishing rod, his line trailing into the sea.
He wore a dark blue robe, his hair was gray, and his face was aged; it was none other than Shadow Six, who was at the Mahayana Initial Stage.
Su Yun's footsteps on the reef made a crisp sound.
Shadow Six did not turn his head.
"You have come."
Su Yun stopped. "You knew I was coming?"
Shadow Six set the fishing rod aside and turned around.
His face looked even older than his back; wrinkles piled up, and his eye bags were heavy, as if he hadn't slept in days.
"Shadow One has been taken by you, Shadow Two and Shadow Four have also followed you, Shadow Three is dead, and Shadow Five has also defected to you. Of the seven Protectors of the Shadow Pavilion, only I remain. If I couldn't guess that you were coming, I would have lived these years in vain."
Su Yun stared at him. "Then why didn't you run?"
Shadow Six laughed hoarsely, his voice sounding like a broken bellows.
"Run? I Cultivate an Earth-element Cultivation Technique and cannot fly at all. You are at the Late Mahayana Stage; could I outrun you?"
Su Yun did not respond.
Shadow Six brushed the dust off his robe and stood up.
"I know you are here to kill me today. I do not beg for my life, I only ask one thing of you."
"Speak."
"My granddaughter runs a Medicinal Pill shop in Biluo City. She doesn't know that I am a member of the Shadow Pavilion; she only thinks I am doing business abroad. After I die, please do not make things difficult for her."
Su Yun was silent for a moment. "What is your granddaughter's name?"
"Shadow Butterfly."
Su Yun was taken aback. "Shadow Butterfly is your granddaughter?"
Shadow Six nodded. "I raised her with my own hands. Her parents died early, so I raised her and later sent her to Cultivate. After I joined the Shadow Pavilion, I didn't dare let her know, so I lied and told her I was running a business abroad. She entered the Shadow Pavilion with the codename Shadow Seven, but I never told her that I am Shadow Six. She knows nothing."
Su Yun was silent for a long time.
He remembered what Shadow Butterfly had once said: she said the Shadow Pavilion controlled her family, and if she didn't obey, her family would die.
It turned out the family she spoke of was Shadow Six.
Shadow Six used himself as a hostage to force Shadow Butterfly to work for them, while he himself was working for the Shadow Master.
Both grandfather and granddaughter were trapped in the same web, yet they kept secrets from each other.
Su Yun looked at Shadow Six and spoke slowly. "Your granddaughter is currently in my hands. She lives in a small courtyard I arranged; someone brings her food and water every day, and no one has laid a finger on her. After you die, I will tell her the truth. Whether she wants to acknowledge you as her grandfather will be for her to decide."
Shadow Six's eyes instantly turned red.
He lowered his head and remained silent for a long while before looking up and smiling faintly. "Thank you."
Su Yun raised his hand and struck the top of Shadow Six's head with his palm.
Shadow Six's body slowly collapsed, and the fishing rod slid off the reef, swept away by the waves.
Su Yun turned and walked back.
Shadow Two stood under a coconut tree, her head lowered, not daring to look at him.
Su Yun said, "Let's go."
The two flew over the sea and landed on the shore.
Fairy Zixia and Shadow Five had been waiting there.
Su Yun said, "Shadow Six has been dealt with. There are still a few female Disciples in the stronghold; we will take them as well."
Shadow Two led the way, and the three flew into the island.
Shadow Six's stronghold was built in a stone house in the center of the island, housing seven or eight female Disciples, with cultivation levels ranging from Golden Core to Nascent Soul.
They were gathered together eating, and seeing Su Yun suddenly enter, they were so frightened that they dropped their bowls and chopsticks.
Su Yun raised his hand, and golden light flashed in succession.
[Enslavement successful × 7]
He ordered Shadow Two to take these female Disciples back to Biluo Palace, while he himself returned with Fairy Zixia and Shadow Five.
After flying for five days, the outline of Biluo Palace finally appeared in his field of vision.
Fairy Biluo was already waiting at the mountain gate.
Seeing Su Yun return, she hurried up to meet him. "Master, Shadow One and Shadow Four have been settled. Shadow Butterfly goes to bring them food every day; the four of them live in the same courtyard and get along quite harmoniously."
Su Yun nodded. "Shadow Six is dead. The stronghold has been cleared, and seven female Disciples were taken."
Fairy Biluo asked, "How many strongholds does the Shadow Pavilion have left?"
"The Shadow Pavilion had twelve strongholds and seven Protectors. Now, five strongholds have been taken by me, two have been destroyed, and of the seven Protectors, four are dead and three have been taken. The rest are all peripheral forces without Protectors overseeing them, not worth mentioning. The Shadow Pavilion now only has the Shadow Master left."
Fairy Biluo asked again, "When will the Shadow Master come?"
Su Yun said indifferently, "I don't know, but it should be soon. I have dug out most of her Foundation, so she cannot sit still. She will either come herself or flee. I actually hope she comes."
For the next few days, Su Yun sat in the main hall waiting every day.
Shadow One and Shadow Four took turns reporting on the situation of the Shadow Pavilion's remaining forces, Shadow Two went to Biluo City every day to watch for any activity, and Shadow Five set up defenses outside the city.
Fairy Zixia and Fairy Biluo took turns keeping watch, ready to engage in battle at any time.
Late at night on the eighth day, Shadow One hurried into the main hall.
"Master, the Shadow Master's aura has been detected outside Biluo City. She has come."
Su Yun stood up and walked out of the main hall.
The night breeze brushed against his face, carrying a hint of sweet fragrance.
That scent was exactly the same as what Shadow Butterfly had described; it was the unique aura of the Shadow Master.
He took a deep breath, and the corners of his mouth lifted slightly.
"Finally, you are here."
