Chapter 191: Unexpected (1)

"If nothing is found, every one of the Su Family Members present must pour tea and apologize to me, Su Luo! No one is allowed to back out!" Su Luo's ink-black eyes swept over the crowd, a faint hint of mockery flickering in the depths of her gaze.

Su Zian's footsteps halted. He hadn't expected Su Luo to propose such a rebellious condition and was about to refute it.

However, Bei Chenying gave him a half-smile and a sidelong glance, chuckling, "Fourth Young Miss Su is right. Is a young lady's boudoir a place anyone can just enter and search whenever they please? Is there no law anymore? General Su, what do you think?"

Although Bei Chenying appeared nonchalant, the pressure radiating from him made Su Zian's heart skip a beat. A stiff smile tugged at the corners of Su Zian's mouth as he said, "Lord Bei Chen's words are absolutely correct."

He turned his head and sneered at Su Luo, "Fine! We'll do as you say. If nothing is found, every Su Family Member present will pour tea and apologize to you! Furthermore, you will be compensated with ten thousand gold coins! Now, is there anything else you're worried about?"

Ten thousand gold coins as well? That couldn't be better.

Su Luo expressed her satisfaction with the outcome of the negotiation: "With Lord Bei Chen and His Highness the Crown Prince as witnesses, Su Luo is at ease."

The implication was that she didn't quite trust her cheap father.

These words turned Su Zian's face livid with rage, but he didn't dare lash out in person. He gave his sleeves a harsh flick and strode away.

The group arrived at Su Luo's side courtyard.

Bei Chenying saw the dilapidated, low walls where the lime had peeled off, revealing the mottled yellow mud beneath. Moreover, the gate to the courtyard was actually missing!

With a smile on his lips, he pointed at the courtyard and said, "General Su, I never imagined your esteemed residence would have such a dilapidated courtyard. Is it being kept as an antique for people to visit?"

Su Zian's brows furrowed coldly, a flash of embarrassment crossing his livid face. He gave a muffled grunt, "Lord Bei Chen truly loves to joke."

Bei Chenying's shimmering, watery eyes took on a mock-serious look: "Ah? Could it be… that people actually live here?"

Looking awkward, Su Zian covered his mouth with a fist to hide his expression and coughed a few times: "We've arrived."

Bei Chenying looked back at Su Zian in stunned silence, his beautiful eyes wide with disbelief as he pointed at the courtyard: "This… Fourth Young Miss Su lives here? You're joking, right?"

It had to be said that Bei Chenying had a talent for acting. His face—a mix of shock, astonishment, and disbelief—was the ultimate source of embarrassment for Su Zian.

Su Zian cleared his throat, avoiding Bei Chenying's awkward topic, and lifted his robes to lead the way inside.

His actions were very obvious; so obvious that if he weren't wary of Bei Chenying's Family power, he would have snapped on the spot.

But who was Bei Chenying? Known as the Imperial Capital's number one playboy, how could he be so easily brushed off?

Furthermore, to make up for his earlier mistake in the main hall, Bei Chenying naturally intended to ridicule Su Zian thoroughly, all to vent some frustration for the girl who was the apple of a certain petty man's eye.

Thus, he made a point of standing right next to Su Zian, his beautiful eyes surveying the conditions of the courtyard as he shook his head and sighed repeatedly: "It's truly too shocking, too unbelievable, too unimaginable, and far, far too much. For a prestigious Family, for a Great General's residence, to let their own daughter live in a house that would collapse in a gust of wind is simply, simply… abuse! Yes, abuse!"

Upon hearing this, Su Zian felt the veins on his forehead throb violently.
