Chapter 1928: Immortal Astral’s tenth sun, Li Manor!
Deep within the eastern part of Ancestral City, there was a seemingly ordinary manor, yet its grounds were vast, appearing from afar like a Vicious Beast coiled there.
Outside this manor, it was utterly silent, devoid of any human presence, as if this place was a Forbidden Land of the Eastern City. Even seeing it from afar, one had to detour, unwilling to pass by this area.
Snow fell, accumulating in a thick layer on the ground, gleaming with a silver light, exuding a chilling aura. Reflected by that silver light, the tightly shut gates of the manor seemed to emanate a pressure.
Outside the gates, two stone lions were coiled, their eyes closed, yet a fierce, malevolent Qi lingered around them, as if once they opened their eyes, they would rage and devour people.
Above these gates hung a plaque with a red background and a green frame, on which two large golden characters were written vertically.
"Li Manor"
A heaven-shaking arrow Qi emanated from these two characters, causing the surrounding snow to seemingly contain killing intent, swirling down.
Within this manor, rows of winding corridors and many exquisite pavilions were scattered about, but at this moment, amidst the falling snow, it remained peaceful, without a single sound or shadow of a person.
Behind the manor's corridors was a secret chamber built of bluestone. In the snow, the stone room was covered in silver, and it was originally silent within. But at this moment, just as Wang Lin stepped into this Eastern City from outside its eastern gate, a bow's hum suddenly rose from within the stone room!
In this extremely silent world, the sound of the bow's hum was quite clear, enveloping the surroundings.
Inside the secret chamber, an old man sat cross-legged. Before him was a wooden stand, the wood of which was entirely purple, appearing extraordinary. This stand was very peculiar, subtly seeming to lack something.
If a bow were placed on this stand, it would be complete!
At this moment, the source of the humming sound was precisely this purple wooden stand, upon which a blurry image of a bow appeared, continuously humming.
The old man suddenly opened his eyes, within which arrow Qi seemed to swirl, staring intently at the purple wooden stand.
"The Old Ancestor's Bow Stand is humming… This… This only happens when the Old Ancestor's Bow appears at close range. Could it be… could it be that the Old Ancestor's Bow has appeared nearby!!" After a moment of shock, the old man took a deep breath, raised his right hand, and waved it towards the stand. Immediately, a purple light flashed, transforming into the shape of an arrow, and shot straight out of the stone room. Its speed was not fast, as if it were searching, and it quickly vanished.
"Li Yun, Li Shan, you two follow the arrow and see if there is any aura of the Old Ancestor's Bow!" The old man's eyes flashed, and he immediately shouted.
As his voice echoed, from two quiet pavilions within this seemingly deathly silent manor, two figures immediately flew out like wisps of smoke, speeding away, following the purple arrow until they disappeared.
At this moment, Wang Lin walked against the wind and snow on the bluestone slabs of Eastern City. The snow on the ground was thick. Wang Lin looked at this city; its vastness, with just one Eastern City being boundless, was something Wang Lin had never seen in his life.
If Eastern City was like this, let alone the entire Ancestral City, this place must be a rare city in the world!
The pedestrians coming and going passed in a hurry, some noticed Wang Lin, but only glanced briefly before moving on.
There were many shops and manors around, exuding a rich Immortal Qi, extremely extraordinary. The entire Eastern City, under this Immortal Qi and in this wind and snow, seemed to give people a very unfamiliar feeling.
Wang Lin, wearing a straw cape, silently walked through Eastern City until the moon began to rise. In a multi-story pavilion inn, Wang Lin took out some Immortal Stones and chose a residence.
This residence was not large and very simple, but the Immortal Qi within it was several times richer than outside. Although it was not an Immortal Cave, the surrounding walls and doors and windows had Restrictions and Seals, which could be opened automatically, making it a good place for seclusion.
At this moment, Liu Jinbiao was beside him, looking left and right with an excited expression. The Golden Venerable Sea Dragon had shrunk to the thickness of a finger and was lying on Liu Jinbiao's shoulder, looking lazy.
The Sea Dragon and Liu Jinbiao got along extremely well. Wang Lin was not surprised by this at all; after all, with Liu Jinbiao's abilities, achieving this was very common.
Night fell, and the wind and snow also lessened significantly. Liu Jinbiao stood by the window, watching the increasing number of pedestrians outside, especially the brightly lit area in the distance, from which faint music seemed to drift, making his expression even more excited.
"Master, this is a great place, almost no different from a mortal city. Look there, I can guarantee there are beauties there!" Liu Jinbiao pointed to the brightly lit distance.
"Master, this Xu Ligou will surely never change his nature. If he were here, he would definitely be reveling every night. To find him, one should look in places like this.
Cough, I, Liu Jinbiao, am a gentleman, this… how about this, I'll reluctantly go there and see if Xu Ligou is there, Master, what do you think…?" Liu Jinbiao suppressed his excitement and looked at Wang Lin.
Wang Lin glanced at Liu Jinbiao, knowing that he didn't want to stay in the room. After a brief deliberation, he nodded.
With his nod, Liu Jinbiao immediately became excited and quickly left with the Sea Dragon.
After Liu Jinbiao left, Wang Lin sat alone on a chair in his residence, holding a wine pot, watching the snow outside the window, drinking sip by sip.
"Lian Daofei… do you still remember the matters of the Immortal Cave Realm…?" Until the moonlight outside grew stronger, and the snow seemed to pick up again, his wine pot was already empty.
Sighing softly, Wang Lin put down the wine pot, got up, and walked out. Alone in his straw cape, he walked towards the distance in this night-shrouded, yet not too dark, Eastern City.
In the Eastern City at night, music and human voices drifted from afar, but Wang Lin felt a sense of loneliness, silently walking on the street. The pedestrians gradually dwindled until, from afar, only Wang Lin remained in the wind and snow.
"You, what is your purpose?" Wang Lin stopped, slowly speaking.
The moment his words came out, a pressure condensed from his voice, causing the surrounding wind and snow to pause, enough to forcibly shake someone out of hiding!
Behind him, within the void, a distorted, blurry figure appeared. Before this figure, a purple arrow hung in the air, carrying a strange whistle, heading straight for Wang Lin.
After this person appeared, without hesitation, he immediately formed Hand Seals. A bow materialized before him, as if two invisible hands grabbed the bow and pulled it back fiercely in an instant. With a hum, an arrow was shot!
This arrow, along with the previous whistling purple arrow shadow, came one after another straight for Wang Lin.
"Li Family?" Wang Lin wore a straw cape and a bamboo hat, so outsiders couldn't see his face clearly. He turned around, not looking up, but raised his right hand and pointed forward.
With this one finger, the incoming purple arrow shadow immediately disintegrated. Immediately after, even the arrow behind the arrow shadow trembled and vanished into thin air.
This scene all happened in an instant. Wang Lin didn't even retreat half a step, merely turning around and casually pointing.
The archer's eyes suddenly widened, revealing an expression of disbelief. He never expected that an arrow he shot with all his might, with his Golden Venerable cultivation, would be dispelled so casually by the opponent.
His hair stood on end, and a sense of fear instantly enveloped his entire body. Without thinking, he quickly retreated, even spitting out a mouthful of blood, having used the Blood Escape technique. In a flash, he transformed into a red shadow and fled a thousand li away.
If Wang Lin were to pursue, this person would not be able to escape, but Wang Lin stood there, watching the blood shadow disappear, not giving chase.
"Just entering this Eastern City, I've already attracted the attention of the Li Family… It must be the Li Guang Bow within my body, and its connection to the Li Family, that triggered their sensing.
It should just be a sensing, they don't know my identity, otherwise, they wouldn't have sent two Golden Venerable Cultivators to follow." Wang Lin had no animosity towards the Li Family, so he didn't kill anyone at this moment.
"Don't let it happen again!" Wang Lin murmured, then turned and left.
But his four words, in the mind of the fleeing blood shadow ten thousand li away, echoed like thunder, causing this person to spit out another mouthful of blood, his expression horrified.
"His… what cultivation is he at!! Who is he!! This matter must be reported to the Old Ancestor immediately. This person must be a Heavenly Venerate, and definitely not an ordinary Heavenly Venerate!! Not good, Li Shan and I separated. I was monitoring this person, while Li Shan went to capture his companion…" The blood-colored figure's face changed drastically, vaguely feeling as if the Li Family's actions this time would bring about a great disaster.
Wang Lin still wore his straw cape and bamboo hat, walking on this street. He had no destination, just wanting to walk quietly alone here. Unknowingly, ahead was brightly lit, and the melodious sound of music echoed.
Looking up with his eyes under the bamboo hat, he glanced at the brightly lit, palace-like place. Wang Lin lowered his head, about to leave, but at that moment, he suddenly looked up again, his eyes revealing a strange light, fixed on the brightly lit palace.
His gaze seemed to penetrate all existence, seeing on the third floor of that palace pavilion, a proud man in red. Wang Lin was familiar with this man's appearance and aura.
Behind this red-clothed man were several Cultivators who were clearly guards, all of them Third Step mighty figures. From their appearance, they seemed very respectful towards the red-clothed man.
"Only at this distance can I sense his presence. Someone has left a Seal on him!" Wang Lin's gaze narrowed, but a happy smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.
"Xu Ligou…" Wang Lin shook his head, about to enter the brightly lit palace, but he frowned and turned to look into the distance, a hint of cold light flashing in his eyes.
"Li Manor, you've gone too far!" Wang Lin's body swayed, and his figure suddenly disappeared. The red-clothed man in the distant palace pavilion at this moment threw his wine cup to the ground, pointed at several people in front of him, and shouted loudly.
"Is this wine? Don't even think about fooling your Grandpa Xu! I know your family has thousand-year-old fine wine, hurry up and bring it, or your Grandpa Xu will tear this place down!"
This red-clothed man had an arrogant and fierce look, yet he was completely unaware that just now, a gaze from outside, that gaze, might have left him bewildered.
