Chapter 1985: Dim Lights, A Rage for Love! (Part Seven) First Update

Within this dao ancient Imperial Palace, Wang Lin walked towards the grand hall. Surrounded by a thousand people, his Master Xuan Luo’s sigh echoed from the sky, reaching his ears. A few breaths before that, far outside this dao ancient Imperial City, within a bare mountain peak, there was a different kind of wonder.

The interior of that mountain peak was completely hollowed out, yet even a Great Heavenly Venerate’s Divine Sense couldn't detect any anomalies from the outside. Inside this empty mountain, there was a massive Formation, extremely complex, causing a dizzying illusion just by looking at it.

That Formation emitted a white light, constantly flickering, filled with an eerie sensation. At the very center of the Formation, a blurry figure sat cross-legged. This figure was wreathed in seven-colored light, and while sitting cross-legged, its hands constantly performed Hand Seals, striking the Formation from time to time.

Just as the seven-colored figure's mark continuously fell, a phantom instantly appeared within the massive Formation. That phantom was precisely a miniature representation of the entire dao ancient Imperial Palace.

Spread out upon the Formation, that miniature Imperial Palace contained countless black and white light dots. There were tens of thousands of black light dots, but compared to the white ones, they were still inferior. The white light dots almost occupied the entire Imperial Palace miniature, and they were still increasing.

Especially between the plaza and the grand hall, nearly a thousand white light dots were densely packed. Surrounding them was a single red light dot, which was wreathed in a bloody aura and remained motionless at that moment.

"Black represents the spirits of the dead, white represents vitality… This red… is Wang Lin… Wang Lin, we meet again!" A hoarse voice, carrying a light chuckle, emanated from the blurry figure suffused with seven-colored light.

"That year, I extracted her remnant soul and gave it to this Dao Ancient Imperial Venerate. This person, as I expected, searched for a body that could merge Souls to establish her as his Empress… And you, as I predicted, have also come to the dao ancient Imperial Palace… Kill, the more you kill, the greater the benefit to me!" The seven-colored blurry figure seemed to smile, but when uttering the words 'remnant soul', its voice subtly trembled, though it recovered instantly. As its right hand lifted, a flash of white light appeared. As its right hand lifted again, a black glow permeated. After these two lights appeared, the seven colors surrounding its body astonishingly became nine colors!

At the same time, a gray qi appeared out of thin air, coiling around the nine-colored figure and merging into the nine colors, making the light ten colors!!

"This gray body, condensed from the Immortal Cave Realm, has now reached Major Achievement…" The blurry figure muttered, its voice hoarse and ancient.

That gray qi was precisely the faint light that even Great Heavenly Venerate Xuan Luo hadn't discovered when Wang Lin left the Immortal Cave Realm back then!

"It's a pity that I am limited by… and can only absorb the Death Qi from Wang Lin's lifetime of killings. Otherwise, if I were to act, I could complete the required amount of Death Qi in a very short time, and then I could…" The figure paused twice in its speech, as if it was wary of what it was limited by and what purpose it could achieve once it had enough Death Qi, not even wanting to speak clearly.

"Wang Lin's killings in the Immortal Cave Realm satisfied me greatly, but after coming to this Immortal Astral Continent, he killed very few in the Immortal Clan's territory. If not for this, the amount I need would have been completed faster, and I wouldn't have needed to use this backup plan of the Dao Ancient Lineage… Fortunately, I was very well prepared back then and extracted her… remnant soul in advance." When the blurry figure mentioned 'her' again, its voice also trembled, and it fell silent.

After a long while, a cold glint flashed in the blurry figure's eyes.

"Since I have already chosen to do this, there is no need to fear. At worst, my consciousness will be erased, but once successful…" The blurry figure's body trembled with excitement.

"I have prepared for so many years, I will never fail! First, I will draw out the spirits of the dead from this Imperial Palace!" The blurry figure suddenly raised its right hand and pointed at the Imperial Palace miniature on the massive Formation on the ground.

With this pointer, all the black dots immediately trembled, seeming to fade significantly, as if about to be absorbed by the Formation. However, in an instant, those faded black dots seemed to be enveloped by a force and then sharply bounced outward, immediately solidifying again from their faded state, apparently unable to be absorbed by the Formation.

"They…" The figure enveloped in ten-colored light immediately changed its expression, letting out a surprised 'eh'.

At this moment, within the dao ancient Imperial City, on the plaza of the Imperial Palace's grand hall, following the sigh from the sky, Wang Lin's body suddenly paused. He seemed to have forgotten that he was in danger, forgotten that the Thirty-Six Fiends were rapidly approaching from all directions, and forgotten the Dao Ancient Imperial Venerate in the grand hall several thousand feet away.

The red glow in Wang Lin's eyes gradually dissipated, and the madness and ferocity in his expression also slowly faded, replaced by bitterness, as he faced the familiar figure walking down from the sky.

He knew that his Master would definitely come, and he also knew that his Master would definitely stop him. Therefore, when he arrived at this dao ancient Imperial Palace, he didn't offer any explanations. Instead, he used the fastest possible time to kill the Dao Ancient Imperial Venerate and take Li Muwan away before Xuan Luo arrived.

Wang Lin had already seen the Dao Ancient Imperial Venerate's thoughts and actions clearly in the deductions from the Jade Slip left by the Old Ancestor of the Great Soul Gate. He had even heard the Dao Ancient Imperial Venerate muttering to himself by the bed.

Combining these, when he first arrived at the Imperial Palace, the Dao Ancient Imperial Venerate had Song Zhi step forward and offer wine. How could the Dao Ancient Imperial Venerate not see through these actions and Wang Lin's abnormal state at the time? He did this merely to revel in the pleasure of controlling a pair of Dao Companions.

Therefore, after understanding all of this, Wang Lin let out that earth-shattering roar. He wanted to kill Ye Dao, to kill this Dao Ancient Imperial Venerate!

He had also considered hiding this anger, calmly re-entering the Imperial Palace, and taking Song Zhi away. But a Dragon has a reverse scale; if one can still tolerate it after it's touched, can it still be called a reverse scale?

Moreover, attacking the Imperial Venerate unprepared in front of the people of the three clans, while seemingly correct, would actually be several times more serious than the current situation! This would be an assassination! With his status, filled with rage, even storming the palace could be seen as an overwhelming fury that clouded his reason.

But if it were a stealthy assassination, being able to accomplish that would mean he was very calm. Doing such a thing under calm deliberation would cause an irreparable injury to Xuan Luo. Wang Lin understood the Karma of this, and therefore, he would even less likely choose that path.

Wang Lin would not choose such a course of action. He wanted to take away Wan'er's remnant soul, kill this Dao Ancient Imperial Venerate, and moreover, he wanted to walk there openly and honorably. The only thing he had to consider was his Master's feelings… "Master…" Wang Lin clasped his hands and bowed deeply to the person walking down from the sky. He did not rise, but remained bowing like that, even as the Thirty-Six Fiends around him seized this opportunity, rapidly approaching with killing intent, about to reach Wang Lin.

In the sky, Xuan Luo's figure emerged. He looked at Wang Lin, his face seemingly aged significantly. He raised his right hand and suddenly waved it towards the ground below.

With this wave, the Thirty-Six Fiends all spat out fresh blood, their bodies recoiled, retreating in shock. Besides them, all the dao ancient clansmen around Wang Lin were swept back by a strong wind, one by one, leaving Wang Lin alone within a thousand feet, bowing there motionless.

"Xuan Venerate, Wang Lin has stormed the palace, intending to seize my Empress. Such outrageous behavior, unworthy of a Xuan Venerate's Disciple, I hope Xuan—" The Dao Ancient Imperial Venerate's eyes flashed when he saw Xuan Luo appear. With a cold sneer in his heart, he took a few steps forward and immediately spoke.

But before he could finish his words, Xuan Luo in the sky suddenly turned around.

"Get out of my sight!!"

The Dao Ancient Imperial Venerate's body trembled, and he spat out fresh blood, retreating several steps. He looked at the blood he had spat out, his eyes filled with disbelief. He hadn't expected Xuan Luo to dare to injure him!

He was about to speak, but when he saw the killing intent and hidden anger in Xuan Luo's eyes at that moment, he gasped, swallowed his words, and his expression turned grim, yet he dared not speak again.

"Great Heavenly Venerate Xuan Luo…" The father of the Dao Ancient Imperial Venerate, the imperial-robed elder who had lost his right arm, sighed softly and bowed to Xuan Luo in the sky.

"This child disrespects imperial authority, but I know that Great Heavenly Venerate Xuan Luo, as the guardian of our Dao Ancient Lineage, will handle this matter impartially. After all, this person killed tens of thousands of our dao ancient clan's powerhouses, causing severe damage to our Dao Ancient Lineage's Origin Qi, which is unforgivable!" This elder was much more astute than the current Imperial Venerate. He emphasized Wang Lin's excessive killings.

Xuan Luo was silent. He looked at Wang Lin, his eyes filled with heartache and sorrow, and also confusion. His face seemed even older. He looked at his Disciple bowing there, his lips trembling slightly, but he couldn't speak.

"Why…" After a long, long time, in the silent Imperial Palace, Xuan Luo took a deep breath and spoke softly.

Wang Lin sighed. He raised his head, looking at Xuan Luo with a complex expression. He could not repay Xuan Luo's kindness, and he truly did not want to disappoint Xuan Luo.

"Master… calm your anger." Wang Lin raised his right hand and fiercely struck his own chest, spitting out a large mouthful of fresh blood. He then waved his right hand through the blood, causing it to scatter and merge with the accumulated blood on the plaza, emitting a monstrous bloody light. Under this bloody light, countless fresh blood on the plaza swirled, condensing together, and using Wang Lin's blood as an引, formed bodies out of thin air.

Each of these bodies belonged to a person killed by Wang Lin.

Back then, with Ye Mo's cultivation, he could transform a few mouthfuls of blood into descendants of the Ancient God, Ancient Demon, and Ancient Devil of the Immortal Cave Realm. Now, Wang Lin possessed the Ancient Ancestor's Soul Blood, and with a secret art from the Legacy he obtained after merging his Soul Blood, he could also achieve this, and he was infinitely more powerful than Ye Mo back then.

Those bodies appeared one after another, tens of thousands, not one less. After their bodies condensed, all the blood on the ground disappeared. Wang Lin, with a pale face, spread his hands and suddenly shook them, causing tens of thousands of Souls to spread out and merge with their respective bodies.

Wang Lin had indeed killed tens of thousands of people, but he had only destroyed their bodies, while their Souls had been collected by him one by one. However, his cultivation was too high, and no one here could discern this action.

Xuan Luo was his Master; how could he do something to make Xuan Luo sad!
