Chapter 2030: Dim Lights, Immortal Cave Realm (Second Update)
After Wang Lin had found all his old acquaintances, except for Qing Shui and Li Qianmei, and either awakened their past memories or chosen to silently depart and forget, he no longer had any lingering attachments in this Immortal Astral Continent.
Before heading to Tianniu Continent, Wang Lin went to see Zhou Yi and Qingshuang. He watched from afar, and when he saw the happy smile on Zhou Yi's face, Wang Lin also smiled. He was happy for Zhou Yi.
Thousands of years of bitter love had now reached Perfection. This scene made Wang Lin take out his wine gourd and take a big gulp as he watched. This wine gourd was still from Situ Nan, and now it served as the wedding wine for Zhou Yi and Qingshuang.
He also made a trip to Ancestral City, where he saw Haizi. After just a distant glance, Wang Lin turned and left.
Tianniu Continent, the place where he first appeared when he came to the Immortal Astral Continent. After so many years of absence, Wang Lin had returned. He walked on the familiar land, passing by the Great Soul Gate, passing by the Guiyi Sect, and continued his journey.
The familiar scenes reminded him of the past. In the very center of Tianniu Continent, above the continuous mountain ranges, Wang Lin looked down and remained silent for a moment.
"Heavenly Ox, your split Soul, which transformed into Armor, once helped me through several crises… My Wang Lin has always been clear about gratitude and grievances. You were kind to me back then, and today, I will undo the Seal left by the Immortal Ancestor for you, allowing you to regain your freedom!
However, your body has already transformed into the earth and cannot be reabsorbed. I will undo your Soul Seal, allowing your Soul to condense into a Primordial Spirit and leave the Immortal Astral Continent. Are you willing?" Wang Lin looked at the earth and slowly spoke.
His voice was not loud, nor did it spread in all directions, but after his words were spoken, the earth suddenly trembled. Amidst the rumbling echoes, a surge of earth Qi seemed to rush out, blurring this mountain range, and faintly revealing a massive phantom.
That phantom was a Heavenly Ox. Its body was extremely enormous, appearing as if it could support the heavens and earth. After it emerged, Wang Lin seemed minuscule before it, but this colossal Heavenly Ox Soul showed a respectful expression and knelt before Wang Lin.
"Thank you… I am willing…" A buzzing sound echoed, filled with excitement and longing. It had been Sealed for too, too long, and today, it finally had a chance to escape. This made the Heavenly Ox feel immense gratitude towards Wang Lin.
"No need to thank me. You were kind to me back then; this is merely a repayment today." Wang Lin looked at the Heavenly Ox, slowly raised his right hand, and pointed at it. At this point, the Heavenly Ox's body trembled violently, revealing an expression of pain. Instantly, numerous runes flashed around its body. These runes seemed to take root on its body, and countless fine lines grew from within these runes, connecting inside the illusory Heavenly Ox Soul, forming a heart-shaped sphere.
It was continuously beating.
This object was precisely the core of the Heavenly Ox Seal.
Looking at the heart-shaped object composed of numerous fine lines, Wang Lin pointed again with his right hand. As his finger fell, all the runes outside the Heavenly Ox Soul collapsed with a roar. After they collapsed, the heart within the Heavenly Ox Soul trembled even more, rapidly shrinking at a visible speed.
A moment later, when it was only the size of a fingernail, it transformed into a faint light that flew out from within the Heavenly Ox Soul, landed in Wang Lin's palm, and was crushed.
The Heavenly Ox Soul let out a roar to the sky. The roar formed ripples in the heavens and earth, echoing in all directions. Its Soul moved, rushing straight towards the sky. At the end of the heavens and earth, it paused, looked down at Wang Lin, knelt again, and then, like a meteor, flew far away until it disappeared without a trace.
With the departure of the Heavenly Ox Soul, the Tianniu Continent's land seemed different, but it was hard to discern exactly what had changed. After Wang Lin watched the Heavenly Ox Soul disappear into the heavens and earth, he turned and walked towards the Seven Dao Sect.
The Seven Dao Sect, the location of the Immortal Cave Realm.
On this mist-shrouded mountain peak, one could not see very far, and it was desolate, having been uninhabited for a long time. But on this day, a figure stood at the foot of the mountain, looking upwards.
This was a middle-aged man, dressed in green robes, looking at the mountain peak, at the mist. Faintly, he seemed to see the ruined halls behind the mist.
"Seven Dao Sect…" The man's eyes showed complexity as he murmured.
"Finally, I've arrived here…" The middle-aged man shook his head bitterly, and walked up the damaged path. He walked very slowly, as if wanting to remember every blade of grass and every tree here, slowly walking into the mist.
Until he passed through the mist and walked along the mountain path to the summit, he saw the Seven Dao Sect's mountain gate and main hall. Looking at this place, the man's expression showed confusion.
He gazed at everything before him. After a long time, he sighed deeply, walked past the damaged halls, and finally found a massive stone gate behind the ruins of the Seven Dao Sect. This stone gate was connected to the mountain, sealed, covered in moss, and exuded a decaying smell.
In front of this stone gate, the middle-aged man closed his eyes.
"The gate to the Immortal Cave Realm…" When he opened his eyes again, he looked at the gate and muttered bitterly.
"Behind this gate is the Immortal Cave Realm… I, was Reincarnated from here." The man sighed softly. Ever since he recovered his past life's memories, he had left his Sect and followed that feeling, arriving here.
He arrived at the Seven Dao Sect, at the gate of the Immortal Cave.
His body trembled slightly as he slowly approached, gently caressing the large gate with his right hand. After a long time, a resolute expression appeared on his face, and he turned, about to leave.
But just as he turned, his footsteps suddenly paused. He saw Wang Lin behind him, dressed in white, with a smile.
"Senior Brother…" Wang Lin spoke softly.
"Wang Lin…" This middle-aged man was none other than Qing Shui! He had spontaneously recovered his past life's memories, and the mark on his body was almost imperceptible; if a few more years passed, it would completely dissipate.
Qing Shui looked at Wang Lin and started laughing, his laughter growing louder, his heart filled with pleasant surprise. He strode forward and embraced Wang Lin, who also laughed heartily.
They sat down together in front of the Immortal Cave gate. Wang Lin took out wine, and they got drunk with Qing Shui.
They forgot the passage of time, getting drunk and sharing their respective experiences, talking, laughing, and also shedding tears. These two Senior and Junior Brothers from the Immortal Cave Realm reunited on the Immortal Astral Continent.
When Wang Lin mentioned Hong Die, Qing Shui was stunned for a long time, then took a large gulp of wine with a bitter smile.
"Let the past be forgotten if it must be. Since I've come to this Immortal Astral Continent, everyone's choices are different, but my choice is not to forget!
Here, there might be a way for me to revive Hanyan, there must be!" Qing Shui murmured.
Wang Lin couldn't revive someone who had been dead for so long that not even their Soul remained. However, he didn't tell Qing Shui, for if a person had no hope, perhaps only despair would remain.
When the morning sunlight faintly pierced through the mist, Qing Shui left. Since he chose not to forget, he naturally wouldn't return to the Immortal Cave Realm. He came here simply to see the Seven Dao Sect, to see the Sect where the Immortal Cave Realm existed.
Now that his wish was fulfilled and he had seen Wang Lin, his heart was filled with joy and he had no more worries. Next, he would pursue his dream, even if it took a lifetime, even through countless Reincarnations, he would remain persistent.
Wang Lin watched Qing Shui depart, watching his figure merge into the mist and disappear. He stood outside the Immortal Cave gate, his eyes filled with complexity.
Of all his old acquaintances, only Thirteen chose to follow Wang Lin back to the Immortal Cave Realm, because for Thirteen, being by his Master's side was the greatest satisfaction of his life.
The others each had their own responsibilities, missions, and ties. Since they had Reincarnated, most chose to forget and start anew.
Wang Lin pushed open the Immortal Cave gate. As the gate opened and a strong light flashed out, he walked inside, disappearing with the strong light.
The gate closed again.
The Seven Dao Sect remained shrouded in mist, abandoned, a forgotten ruin.
Immortal Cave Realm.
The barrier between the Inner Realm and the Outer Realm was extremely solid. Over these hundreds to nearly a thousand years, the forces from the Outer Realm had launched an assault, but they could not break through the barrier and invade.
Wang Lin's name had become a legend throughout the entire Immortal Cave Realm, an unreal existence. Many remembered him, but at the same time, more people had forgotten him.
Even the Cultivators within the Inner Realm were like this. Only the statue on Vermilion Bird Star, this place designated as a Holy Land, and Wang Lin's various legends, were occasionally mentioned.
Besides here, there was another place where Wang Lin's story continued: the New Immortal Realm!
This Immortal Realm, created by Wang Lin back then, had seen many Cultivators migrate from the four Star Domains of the Inner Realm. Most of these Cultivators had survived the great war of that year. Many of them had personally seen Wang Lin, and a few had even fought alongside Wang Lin against the Outer Realm.
Mu Bingmei had not left back then; she chose to stay in the Immortal Cave Realm, in the New Immortal Realm, waiting for someone to return one day.
Daoist Blue Dream also did not leave. As the strongest expert in the entire Immortal Realm, he resided here, guarding the peace of the Immortal Realm. Some others, like Nanyunzi, also did not leave.
However, at this moment, within the New Immortal Realm, there was a suppressive atmosphere, as if a dark cloud hung over it, making many Cultivators in the Immortal Realm silent.
Daoist Blue Dream was severely injured.
Nanyunzi's Physical Body had collapsed, leaving only his Primordial Spirit.
The sky of the entire Immortal Realm was blood-red. In that blood-red color, countless phantoms flickered, occasionally revealing ferocious appearances, as if numerous vengeful Souls were hidden within the blood-red.
"Master has given you five days to choose. Three days have already passed. In these final two days, this young Master hopes you can provide a wise answer: submit to my Scarlet Soul Sect, otherwise… death!" In that blood-red, a youth in red robes spoke leisurely to the many Cultivators below.
"As for you, Mu Bingmei, you also only have two days left to choose. In two days, when the Immortal Realm's Formation is broken, if you do not become this young Master's Dao Companion, I will slaughter Vermilion Bird Star and destroy the statue of that person named Lin!"
