Chapter 238: Knight and Beast, Seed of Fairy Tales (5200)

"Rumble!" The heavy iron door was pulled open by the immense strength of Assam and Braum.

Looking inside, a vast space immediately appeared before them.

It was filled with hundreds of seats covered in red cloth.

The color of the red cloth was so vivid, as if it had been splattered with fresh blood.

In the center area, there was a stage also draped in a red curtain.

"Good grief, is this… an opera house?" A look of confusion appeared in Cao Xing's eyes.

At this moment, the theater appeared completely empty.

After pondering for a moment, Cao Xing said directly, "Let's go, we're heading straight in."

Everyone filed inside, including Wally and Dabai, who also slipped in.

"Boom!" The iron door behind them slammed shut!

The entire ground floor of the theater was instantly plunged into pitch darkness.

However, the group did not panic. Just as Cao Xing was about to take out a Magic Stone torch.

A light appeared in the theater. "Thump!" A dazzling spotlight hit the stage.

Then, Cao Xing and the others heard a weathered, hoarse voice.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to my little theater."

"Every day, I prepare little stories here for you all. Of course, if you wish to watch, you might need to pay a small entrance fee…"

"Coming up next is the story of Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf."

Swish! The red curtain was pulled back. On the stage, a little girl appeared, wearing a red scarf on her head and carrying a small flower basket.

She was in a dark forest, carefully observing her surroundings.

Just then, the surrounding environment seemed to undergo a change.

The little girl looked toward the pitch-black woods, and an expression of fear gradually appeared on her face.

She began to flee in a panic, as if something was chasing her frantically from behind.

The little girl stumbled along with her basket, encountering a woodcutter on the path.

She recounted her plight to the woodcutter and told him there were monsters in the forest.

The woodcutter comforted her, signaling her not to worry, then suddenly opened his mouth, revealing a bloody maw, and bit off one of the little girl's arms.

"Chomp, chomp… chomp, chomp…" The woodcutter quickly finished the arm and looked at her with a hungry smile.

The little girl's eyes widened; she was completely terrified. Ignoring the pain, she clutched her severed arm and continued to flee through the woods.

However, her lonely, thin figure looked so desperate in this dark forest.

It even made one want to rush over and help her.

She didn't know how many terrifying things she had experienced, encountering many people along the way—hunters, children, and even her own grandmother.

But without exception, these people were all transformations of the monsters in the forest.

After experiencing a series of deceptions, the little girl was completely desperate, running headlong on her own.

Before her, she finally seemed to see a glimmer of light. Just as she thought she was about to escape that terrifying forest.

And at that moment, a terrifying creature descended from the sky! With its horrifying, massive foot, it stomped her to pieces in a single blow!

"Splat!" Blood exploded across the stage.

This scene made Elisa and Tong Chuchu tremble, their faces turning pale!

Even Cao Xing narrowed his eyes, staring at the dark figure in the center of the stage.

As the light moved, everyone saw a figure appear wearing a black jacket and a hat.

It placed its right hand on its chest and bowed slightly, looking quite dashing.

However, the black fur on its face and the long tail behind it revealed its identity.

It was the first monster in the Old Witch's fairy tales—the Big Bad Wolf!

At this moment, the Big Bad Wolf stood upright, its mouth slightly open, wearing a terrifying smile.

Whether in expression or demeanor, it was just like a normal human.

It chuckled, "Oh~ poor Little Red Riding Hood cheated death, and she has received death's punishment."

"My guests, I wonder if the performance just now was to your satisfaction?"

Cao Xing did not speak. The Big Bad Wolf stared at the group.

Then, it lifted its foot and casually kicked the corpse parts under its feet to the side.

"Oh~ it seems my actor was accidentally crushed to death by me…"

"Now, I need to recruit a new batch of actors to play Little Red Riding Hood…"

"So, which lovely little girl is willing to come on stage?"

Its eerie green eyes swept over the group, then locked onto Elisa and Tong Chuchu.

Tong Chuchu was so terrified that her little face turned pale, and her body couldn't stop trembling.

After all, this Big Bad Wolf had just crushed a little girl around her age to death right in front of them!

Although, it was debatable whether that little girl truly existed.

Elisa, on the other hand, wasn't very afraid; instead, she pouted, glaring angrily at the Big Bad Wolf, even wanting to shoot it with two arrows on the spot.

Cao Xing had Elisa comfort Little Chuchu, then turned his gaze toward the monster in front of them.

The next moment, Cao Xing saw its attribute panel.

[Big Bad Wolf] [Race: Beast] [Level: 40 (Tier 4 Variant Boss Creature)]

[Talent: Wolf King (King of the wolf pack, HP +50%)] [Talent ②: Fairy Tale Creature (Each time it attacks an enemy or is attacked, it accumulates 1 stack of Seed of Fairy Tales)]

(Description: Do you think those fairy tale creatures are truly fictional?)

"A Level 40 Variant Boss?" A look of confusion appeared in Cao Xing's eyes.

He only knew that above Elite was Boss, and above Boss was Commander. He hadn't expected there to be a Variant Boss in between.

However, it was clear that the strength of the Big Bad Wolf before him far exceeded an ordinary Tier 4 Boss.

The most bizarre thing was its [Fairy Tale Dream] skill. Once activated, it actually entered an attack-immune state. Furthermore, this skill was quite strange, as it actually required finding a flaw to interrupt it.

At this moment, the Big Bad Wolf urged them impatiently. "Oh? When will my new actors take the stage? Don't keep the audience waiting too long…"

A trace of brutal aura gradually erupted from its body.

Cao Xing glanced at the Big Bad Wolf. Although the opponent was formidable, if they all swarmed it, they could easily pin this guy to the ground and ravage it.

But he did not do so. Instead, he looked at Assam and asked, "Are you confident?"

Assam understood Cao Xing's intention. This was preparing for him to go and challenge this powerful Variant Boss creature alone, to complete the [Trial of Valor] task in the Knight's Trial.

After all, this was the first Level 40 Boss creature they had encountered since entering the Witch Forest. It was also the only enemy that met the conditions for Assam's challenge.

He nodded and said with a firm gaze, "No problem, My Lord!" "Assam will do his utmost to complete the trial!"

Cao Xing nodded, "Good."

Although this Big Bad Wolf had not yet broken through to Tier 5, the attribute gap between it and Assam was still significant. After all, there was a full 10-level difference between them, and the opponent was also a Variant Boss.

Thus, Cao Xing said, "Muxue, give the ancient sword in your hand to Assam."

Hearing this, Liu Muxue handed the [Magdal] in her hand to him without hesitation.

At this moment, Assam did not decline; instead, he solemnly received it and said, "Many thanks, My Lady!"

After speaking, he gripped the hilt. In an instant, it was as if a kingly aura erupted from within him!

Even the Big Bad Wolf, who was waiting on the stage, couldn't help but cast its gaze toward Assam.

Then, he jumped off the Frost Wolf. This Frost Wolf had now also transformed into a Level 30 Elite creature, having accompanied Assam in battle for a long time.

However, the requirement for this trial was that he must complete it alone. In other words, he couldn't even bring the Frost Wolf.

And what worried Cao Xing even more was that Assam had various status buffs bestowed upon him by the group. In this way, would it be judged that Assam did not kill the enemy alone?

Cao Xing wasn't sure either. But for now, they could only take it one step at a time.

Meanwhile, Assam held [Magdal] with both hands, placed it in front of his chest, and walked firmly toward the stage.

The Big Bad Wolf narrowed its eyes, "Oh? It seems you have already chosen the person to take the stage?"

Assam did not reply and soon arrived in front of the Big Bad Wolf.

Seeing the knight clad in heavy armor, holding a broken sword, the upright Big Bad Wolf in front of him curled its lips into a terrifying smile.

"Just you alone? I thought you were all going to come up together!"

Assam said in a booming voice, "I alone am enough!"

"Hehehe~ poor knight, your aura is too weak; I can't even bear to lay a hand on you."

"No need for nonsense; the longsword in my hand will make you experience pain."

A bloodthirsty smile appeared on the large wolf's face. "It seems you are very confident in your own strength."

"Very well, I will capture you first and treat you as a new actor for my stage!"

However, the moment it said those words,

Assam had already unleashed a [Frost Wolf Sword Qi]!

"Swish!"

A sword beam about two meters long, carrying astonishing cold air, erupted suddenly!

With his overall attributes significantly increased, the range and attack speed of his sword beam had also received a terrifying boost.

At this attack speed, it was basically impossible for anyone to dodge.

However, in the shocked eyes of everyone, the large wolf

simply sidestepped and dodged the attack of the sword beam.

Furthermore, it pounced toward Assam at a terrifying speed.

Cao Xing hurriedly warned, "Assam, watch out!"

The strength of this large wolf exceeded everyone's expectations!

Its reaction ability and instantaneous burst speed were simply too fast!

However, Assam remained calm in the face of danger.

The moment that gray figure pounced over,

he gripped the sword hilt with both hands and exerted force suddenly!

The longsword swept horizontally.

Whoosh—

A strong gust of wind swept through!

The wolf's claws struck Assam's body.

And Assam's ancient treasure sword also slashed into its body.

"Crack!"

"Pfft!"

One layer of Assam's Holy Shield shattered.

And a bloodstain appeared on the large wolf's body.

After the bonuses from [Magdale] and [Blessing of Honor],

Assam's attack power had also been greatly increased.

Even though the large wolf's armor was very high, it still dealt significant damage!

Seeing this, the large wolf's dark green pupils widened again.

"A shield? To think it could block my attack, it looks like a method of the Holy See."

"However, how many layers of shields can you have on you?"

After speaking, it raised its huge sharp claws again and clawed fiercely at the knight in front of it!

Assam did not show weakness either; he brandished the broken sword in his hand and slashed heavily!

"Crack! Crack!"

"Swish! Swish!"

Three layers of Assam's Holy Shield were broken.

And on the large wolf's body, three more bloodstains appeared, and it lost over ten thousand health points.

Despite this,

the large wolf did not seem to panic at all; a look of interest appeared in its eyes.

"Oh? Poor knight, it seems the Holy Shield on you cannot protect you anymore."

"What are you going to use to fight me next?"

The next moment, its sharp wolf claws slashed directly across Assam's body.

"Swish!"

…

Two claws.

It only took away over five thousand of Assam's health points.

Seeing this, the large wolf's pupils constricted slightly.

"Hmm?"

"How is it possible? You clearly only have Tier 3 strength, how can you have such formidable defensive power!"

Assam basically does not converse with enemies during battle.

He did not answer this question but instead brandished [Magdale].

A strong, lethal sword beam came rushing toward it.

The large wolf was forced back again!

Meanwhile, Cao Xing, who was watching the battle from the side, had a look of "as I expected" on his face.

You have to know, although Assam was only a level 30 knight,

he had the 20% damage reduction from [Frost Magic Shield], as well as the 20% damage reduction from his Crystal Plate Armor.

Plus an ultra-high defensive power of over one thousand!

At this moment, except for not having an advantage in health, Assam's overall combat power had already surpassed the large wolf in front of him.

Seeing this, Braum said excitedly from the back, "Well done, Assam!"

"That's it, take down this wolf!"

The Wild Boar Warrior also held its dual blades high, cheering for Assam.

However,

the large wolf that had just been forced back was already charging over again with its terrifying figure.

A pair of terrifying sharp claws instantly attacked Assam.

He still did not dodge, slashing down with two sword strikes, 'Swish! Swish!'

At the same time,

the 5-stack mark effect of Glory Praise had taken effect.

Instantly, a burst of light exploded from the large wolf!

Boom!

[-9121]

An explosive damage figure that almost reached ten thousand appeared.

It directly caused the large wolf's figure to stagger!

However, it was not over yet.

As Assam activated [Frost Magic Shield] and [Source of Extreme Ice].

In an instant, a dual cold energy shockwave surged out.

The terrifying temperature spread out from Assam at a speed visible to the naked eye, directly freezing the large wolf in place on the spot.

The large wolf felt its body being frozen, a look of confusion in its eyes.

"You… this is simply not the method of a knight…"

Then, it was completely frozen in place.

Assam was a man of few words and ruthless action.

Taking advantage of the opponent being frozen, he directly brandished the greatsword in his hand and slashed down fiercely.

"Pfft! Pfft, pfft!"

After a few sword strikes, it took away another ten thousand plus health points from the large wolf.

Then, [Glory Praise] exploded!

"Boom!"

[-9314]

At this moment, the large wolf's health had already been blasted down to 210,000.

Assam's combo was also smooth and flowing, very powerful.

And that large wolf, worthy of being a level 40 mutated boss creature, was terrifyingly powerful.

It had been controlled for less than 2 seconds, and dense cracks had already appeared on the ice layer on its body; the large wolf was about to break free.

In the third second.

With a 'crack' sound, the ice layer shattered.

"Roar!"

As soon as the large wolf broke free, it let out an angry roar.

"You are not a knight at all! You are an evil warlock!"

However, Assam remained silent.

He continued to use the ancient treasure sword in his hand to chip away at the opponent's health.

Both sides were melee-type creatures, and at this moment, a close-quarters brawl unfolded.

Time passed slowly.

In the blink of an eye, a minute had passed.

The large wolf's health had been slashed down to 180,000 by Assam.

And Assam's health was still over 40,000.

This monster seemed to have realized how terrifying the recovery ability of the knight in front of it was!

It was a Tier 4 mutated boss!

To think it had gone head-to-head with a Tier 3 knight for so long, and the opponent still looked full of vigor!

And the damage it had managed to deal to him was recovered by the opponent in just a few seconds!

Seeing this, a smile also appeared on Cao Xing's lips.

After all, [Ice Healing Art] now had a recovery amount of over 1,600 per second, and [Life Bloom] had a recovery amount of nearly 700 per second.

Adding them up, that was a recovery amount of 2,300 per second.

This kind of terrifying recovery data was no joke!

If it weren't for the large wolf's attack speed being fast enough, it wouldn't even be able to suppress Assam's health at all.

But the large wolf refused to believe it.

Its figure flashed, and it appeared directly behind Assam.

[Wolf Shadow Blink]!

"Swish! Swish!"

These two strikes caused Assam's health to drop by a chunk!

And he did not show weakness either, raising his longsword and slashing behind him.

"Pfft!"

[-3918]

Both sides continuously dealt damage to their opponent!

And neither side backed down anymore!

This was a brawl between a knight and a beast!

Cao Xing and the others also frowned, watching from the side.

Assam's health slowly dropped.

However, when 60 seconds passed, a new Holy Shield refreshed on him, buying some time to catch his breath.

His health was quickly raised back up again.

Although the large wolf's attacks could also lifesteal, it was clearly not as powerful as Assam's recovery ability.

After another minute, the large wolf's health had been slashed down to 140,000 by Assam!

And just at this moment, the large wolf suddenly roared.

"Awoo!!"

A terrifying sound wave swept through.

It was exactly its skill: [Midnight Scream].

Assam's armor and recovery ability instantly dropped by a large chunk.

Seeing this scene, the large wolf directly used [Swift Claws], slashing fiercely at Assam!

[-3014]

[-2783]

Instantly, Assam's health dropped below thirty thousand.

Seeing this, everyone's hearts tightened!
