Chapter 2461

The army wasn't large, numbering about a hundred. Due to the spatial barrier, Lin Moyu couldn't sense their strength.

Their uniforms were identical. Standing by the bridge, they looked like soldiers guarding a city wall.

In the center of the army, there was a figure who looked like a leader.

He paced back and forth on the bridge as if on patrol.

Lin Moyu didn't approach immediately. Instead, he observed from a distance; these soldiers gave him a strange feeling.

The soldiers weren't looking toward either end of the bridge; rather, they were spread along both sides, looking down beneath the bridge.

Below the bridge was a rift. These soldiers were guarding against the rift.

"What's in the rift!"

Just as he thought this, a thunderous boom echoed, and the ground shook violently.

The sound of waves suddenly grew louder, and a foul, bloody stench wafted over as a wave of blood surged out of the rift.

Chapter 3105: Guarding the Bluestone Bridge, the Bloody Legion

The blood wave soared into the sky, instantly filling his vision. The spatial barrier was covered in crimson blood.

If not for the spatial barrier, this blood would have splattered across the land long ago.

At that moment, the spatial barrier began to glow. Countless runes appeared on it, densely packed and each one obscure and difficult to understand.

"These are Prehistoric runes!"

Lin Moyu was slightly startled. Although he couldn't understand the Prehistoric runes for the moment, he could tell they were unusual.

The runes spread across the spatial barrier, purifying all the blood on it.

The entire spatial barrier emitted a dense light, obscuring Lin Moyu's vision.

Lin Moyu could no longer see what was happening inside the spatial barrier, but he could faintly hear roars and sounds of battle.

A moment later, everything returned to calm.

The runes on the spatial barrier vanished, and the bloodstains were gone.

Lin Moyu whispered, "As expected, I was right not to shatter the spatial barrier. It exists to prevent things from beneath the rift from surging up."

"That bridge…"

On the bridge, soldiers were still on guard, but their numbers were fewer than before.

There had been a hundred soldiers before, but now only about half remained.

Then, before Lin Moyu's eyes, soldiers walked over from the other end of the bridge.

The new soldiers first went to the leader in the center of the bridge, seemingly to report for duty.

After reporting, the soldiers took their positions at the bridgehead, replacing the previous soldiers to guard the bridge.

Lin Moyu knew a battle must have just taken place on the bridge. Things from the bottom of the rift had come up and fought a great battle with the army on the bridge.

The army had repelled the enemy, but they had paid a price, with nearly half killed or wounded.

However, reinforcements soon arrived, and the losses were quickly replenished.

People kept coming to report, and in just a few minutes, the ranks were full again.

This army would continue to guard the stone bridge, waiting for the monsters in the rift to appear again for another battle.

Lin Moyu cleared his thoughts and muttered to himself, "I wonder how many years this kind of battle has been going on."

"I just don't know the identities of the two sides in the battle."

"But the physique of this army is somewhat similar to the human race."

Lin Moyu walked forward, getting closer and closer to the stone bridge.

In front of the stone bridge, he saw a vortex, identical to the vortex of a Secret Realm.

Lin Moyu frowned. "Why is there a Secret Realm entrance here?"

He didn't enter the Secret Realm immediately but searched the surroundings first, confirming that the stone bridge couldn't be reached directly by normal means.

Ultimately, Lin Moyu determined that to get onto the stone bridge, he had to go through the Secret Realm.

"A Secret Realm entrance isn't necessarily a Secret Realm; it could also be a portal."

"I'll go in and try first!"

Lin Moyu approached the Secret Realm and communicated with the vortex using his soul.

The vortex's rotation speed immediately quickened slightly, and Lin Moyu simultaneously received a message.

[Task: Participate in guarding the Bluestone Bridge. Assist the army in holding the Bluestone Bridge. Upon completion, you may pass through the Bluestone Bridge.]

The vortex gave Lin Moyu a choice: if he wanted to enter, he had to participate in the task.

Only after completing the task could he pass through the Bluestone Bridge and enter the Middle-Tier Area. Otherwise, he would have to look for another path.

"Perfect, I also want to see what kind of battle this is."

"Bloody Legion… sounds quite powerful. I'll go see for myself!"

With a thought, Lin Moyu chose to accept the task.

The vortex generated a suction force, pulling Lin Moyu inside.

The scene before him shifted from blurry to clear, and Lin Moyu found himself standing on the stone bridge.

Beside him was a stone tablet with the three large characters 'Bluestone Bridge' carved on it.

The three characters were majestic; clearly, the person who carved them was a powerful expert.

Lin Moyu felt a powerful aura from the stone tablet. It wasn't just a tablet; it was also a Formation Core.

With the stone tablet as the core, the formation spread throughout the entire Bluestone Bridge.

The Bluestone Bridge before him was far from the one he had seen through the spatial barrier.

The Bluestone Bridge before him was over a hundred meters wide and several thousand meters long.

It was packed with soldiers, far more than a hundred.

On both sides of the Bluestone Bridge, a person stood every two meters. There were thousands of soldiers just guarding the bridge.

Adding the large number of soldiers patrolling back and forth, there were over ten thousand soldiers on the entire bridge.

The soldiers wore uniform armor and held uniform weapons. Their weapons were long spears, all of which were Dao Venerable 3rd Realm magical treasures.

Every soldier's cultivation was at the Dao Venerable 3rd Realm. If ten thousand soldiers formed a Battle Formation, they would be fully capable of matching a Dao Venerable 4th Realm expert, or even clashing with one at the Dao Venerable 5th Realm.

In the center of the bridge, an officer stood.

The officer's cultivation was two realms higher than the soldiers, reaching the Dao Venerable 5th Realm.

Just by looking, Lin Moyu knew that this army was of extremely high quality and possessed great combat power.

Unfortunately, they had all died in battle. What remained now was only their former supreme fighting intent and their obsession.

At that moment, someone walked over and thrust a long spear and a set of armor into Lin Moyu's hands.

Although nothing was said, Lin Moyu knew what he had to do.

Putting on the armor and picking up the spear, Lin Moyu stepped onto the Bluestone Bridge and walked up to the officer.

He imitated the other soldiers and gave the officer a military salute.

The officer said nothing, only pointing toward a spot by the side of the bridge.

There happened to be a gap there, and he gestured for Lin Moyu to go and guard it.

Lin Moyu also didn't speak, turning to walk toward the empty position.

The Bluestone Bridge was silent, save for the faint friction of the armor from the patrolling soldiers.

Standing on the Bluestone Bridge, Lin Moyu looked down into the rift.

Inside the rift, clumps of black mist shrouded everything, making it impossible to see the bottom.

However, the sound of waves was very clear here, and the bloody stench was extremely thick. Lin Moyu was ninety percent certain that a majestic river of blood lay beneath the rift.

About half an hour later, the Bluestone Bridge suddenly began to vibrate. Countless runes lit up on the bridge, and the formation roared into operation.

Then, runes lit up in the sky above and the surrounding space.

A strong bloody stench rose from the bottom of the rift, carrying a foul odor a hundred times more intense than what Lin Moyu had smelled before.

This foul stench struck directly at the soul. If one's soul hadn't reached the Dao Venerable Realm, the stench alone would be enough to injure it.

Furthermore, the foul, bloody stench carried a terrifying and peculiar power that could corrode the soul.

Then, the sound of waves grew louder and louder, eventually becoming like thunder.

"It's coming!"

Just as the thought occurred to Lin Moyu, his gaze suddenly sharpened.

A towering wave of blood surged up from beneath the bridge, slamming heavily against it.

The Bluestone Bridge shook incessantly from the impact of the blood wave. The formation on the bridge continued to operate, constantly purifying the blood.

The crimson blood, tinged with black, attempted to corrode the Bluestone Bridge but was blocked by the formation.

A large amount of blood slammed into the surrounding spatial barriers and the formation in the sky, only to be blocked as well. The blood wave then turned around in mid-air, transforming into a giant hand that slapped down heavily.

At that moment, the officer on the bridge drew his war blade and pointed it at the blood hand.

The Bluestone Bridge hummed and erupted with golden light, blasting the blood hand apart.

The blood hand dissolved into countless clumps of blood as they fell, and blood-covered monsters surged out from within them.

They looked like beasts with rat-like heads and pointed snouts. They had a pair of sharp blades on their foreclaws and another pair on their backs, appearing very strange.

"Kill!"

The officer gave his first command, and also his only command!

Chapter 3106: One Punch for Each, No Matter How Many Come, They All Die

The monster-like Bloody Legion swarmed out from the blood waves, numbering in the thousands—no fewer than the soldiers guarding the bridge.

However, these monsters known as the Bloody Legion were at the Dao Venerable 4th Realm.

Even with over ten thousand Dao Venerable 3rd Realm soldiers forming a Battle Formation, it would be impossible for them to stand against thousands of Dao Venerable 4th Realm enemies. This was a battle destined for death.

Lin Moyu frowned and did not immediately summon the Undead Legion.

Since the army could guard this place for so long, there had to be a corresponding strategy.

Barring any accidents, his task would most likely be completed.

However, looking at it from another angle, since it was a task, there would inevitably be some difficulty.

For example, how to keep one's life in the heat of battle.

Otherwise, if anyone could complete it, the task would lose its meaning.

The officer shouted "Kill!" and with his command, he planted his war blade into the ground, causing the formation to intensify sharply.

Every soldier's armor glowed brightly, becoming one with the formation.

Being inside the formation, Lin Moyu felt it very clearly.

Through the armor, he had become one with the formation. The armor's power increased significantly, and it also boosted his own strength.

Although his realm was still at the Dao Venerable 3rd Realm, he could exert the combat power of the Dao Venerable 4th Realm through the armor.

Because Lin Moyu himself was at the Dao Venerable 3rd Realm while possessing Dao Venerable 5th Realm combat power, he was very sensitive to the changes in his strength.

With Dao Venerable 4th Realm combat power combined with the appropriate Battle Formation, they could certainly hold their own against the thousands of the Bloody Legion.

The soldiers on the bridge quickly synchronized with the formation, creating a Battle Formation—a formation within a formation.

All their strength twisted into a single force, clashing head-on with the Bloody Legion.

It was a pure collision of power against power, and the great battle erupted with a roar.

Lin Moyu was quite speechless at this moment; he finally realized where the difficulty of this task lay.

Although he had benefited from the power boost, he was unfamiliar with Battle Formations and could not coordinate with the soldiers.

In other words, he was on his own.
