Chapter 2489

In the distance, flames soared into the sky, and the Dao of Fire emerged, pouring down a sea of fire across the heavens.

In other places, other Daos emerged as well, each with different attributes, constantly unleashing their power.

This was a battlefield, and the two sides locked in fierce combat were the Divine Talisman Army and the Bloody Legion.

This was the information recorded in the murals, and also a real war that had occurred in the past; he was witnessing this history as an onlooker.

Only when he was personally on the scene did he realize that the scenes reenacted by the creator of the Secret Realm before were far too amateurish.

The actual battle was far more intense than imagined.

Heaven and earth were shattered by the fighting; various Daos and secret techniques clashed, tearing space into tattered rags.

Bottomless fissures were blasted into the earth, geysers erupted from deep underground, and in some places, magma even spewed forth.

The entire Origin Continent seemed to be shaking.

Battle formations formed by the Divine Talisman Army were fighting against countless Bloody Rat Monsters.

Within his line of sight, the Bloody Rat Monsters were densely packed, coming from all directions in countless numbers, surrounding the Divine Talisman Army. Although the Divine Talisman Army possessed formidable combat power, they were at a severe disadvantage in terms of numbers.

The Divine Talisman Army fought this battle with immense difficulty.

If the battle continued like this, even Lin Moyu could not predict what the ultimate outcome would be.

However, the Divine Talisman Army before him were only in the Dao Venerable 4th Realm, which was not enough to determine the final outcome of the entire war. Suddenly, the scene shifted, and Lin Moyu arrived at another battlefield.

In this battlefield, there were even more troops of the Divine Talisman Army, and likewise, the number of Bloody Rat Monsters was also greater, making the battle even more intense than before.

Various secret techniques and Daos rained down like hailstones, leaving the earth completely unrecognizable.

Lin Moyu even felt a trace of worry that if the fighting continued like this, the entire continent would be shattered.

Lin Moyu observed the battle, the Divine Talisman Army, and also the Bloody Rat Monsters.

The scenes recorded here were much clearer and more realistic than the simulated Bloody Rat Monsters.

Although that existence had simulated them very well, there were still some differences.

The Bloody Rat Monsters could spit a blackish-red liquid that was extremely toxic. Quite a few soldiers of the Divine Talisman Army were poisoned, their bodies rotting away until they died.

After watching for a while, the scene shifted once more, and Lin Moyu entered another battlefield.

This time, he saw the Two-Winged Rat Generals and the Four-Winged Rat Generals.

They flew through the sky and burrowed through the earth, their speed incredibly fast, far stronger than the ones he had killed before.

Chapter 3147: The General's Dying Wish

One battle after another that had occurred in the past…

…replayed before Lin Moyu's eyes. This was not an illusion created by laws, battle intent, or obsession, but a real battlefield from history.

Lin Moyu saw how the once-mighty Divine Talisman Army fought against the Bloody Legion from the Blood Rat Realm, and those dazzling Daos.

All kinds of strange techniques and secret arts of the Divine Talisman Army were displayed before his eyes, allowing Lin Moyu to appreciate the demeanor of prehistoric powerhouses.

Most importantly, Lin Moyu got to know the real Bloody Legion, the real Bloody Rat Monsters.

They were far stronger than those simulated illusions; they also possessed consciousness and intelligence.

They had tactics, whether in group combat or single duels.

They were all extremely powerful, especially starting from the sixth mural, where Lin Moyu saw those mutated rat generals.

The Six-Winged Rat Generals were in the Dao Venerable 7th Realm, and they would become even more powerful after mutating.

Although their realm did not increase, their combat power skyrocketed. The mutation granted them a wide variety of abilities.

These abilities were extremely troublesome, and the way they mutated was by devouring dao crystals.

There were sixteen murals in total, distributed across the four high walls of the stone chamber. When Lin Moyu reached the eighth mural,

he suddenly realized that the battlefield in the eighth mural was the very place he was currently in.

A powerful detachment of the Divine Talisman Army was locked in a fierce battle with the Bloody Legion. The Bloody Legion outnumbered the Divine Talisman Army ten to one and had them completely surrounded.

Although the Divine Talisman Army was surrounded, they did not panic, quickly forming battle arrays.

Led by a Fifth-Rank General, they launched a counterattack. The Divine Talisman Army was incredibly heroic.

In this battle, they killed several times their own number of Bloody Rat Monsters, but unfortunately,

they were ultimately defeated. They fought to the last man, and the Fifth-Rank General finally chose to self-detonate.

At the cost of turning to ash, he dragged a vast number of Bloody Rat Monsters down with him to the grave. Not long after the battle ended, reinforcements arrived.

They slaughtered all the remaining Bloody Rat Monsters. Having watched the entire battle, Lin Moyu murmured,

"What a pity. If the reinforcements had arrived just one step sooner, it wouldn't have ended like this."

In truth, even when outnumbered, the battle arrays formed by the Divine Talisman Army could still hold out for a very long time.

However, within this Bloody Legion, there were several mutated Bloody Rat Monsters that possessed various unique abilities.

This was the real reason the Divine Talisman Army collapsed so quickly, and Lin Moyu had seen these specific Bloody Rat Monsters before.

They were the ones used as watchdogs. Of course, on the real battlefield,

their abilities were even stronger than the simulated ones. After watching this war,

Lin Moyu could not help but sigh. If not for those Mutated Rat Monsters, and if the reinforcements had arrived a bit earlier,

this tragedy could have been avoided. But prehistoric history was just history; everything had already happened

and could not be changed. Just as Lin Moyu was about to look at the ninth mural, the scene before his eyes suddenly shifted.

Lin Moyu found himself back in the stone chamber. His journey through the prehistoric murals ground to a sudden halt, though the sixteen murals in the stone chamber were still glowing.

However, his consciousness could no longer enter them. He had only finished viewing the first eight, and he could not continue to view the rest.

At this moment, the eighth mural began to ripple like water, stirring up circles of ripples.

Then, a vortex appeared. The vortex before him was identical to the one at the entrance of the Secret Realm. Lin Moyu knew

that behind the vortex should be a Secret Realm. The murals could no longer be viewed, and he did not need to stay here any longer.

Lin Moyu committed the remaining eight murals to memory. With his previous experience, he roughly understood the meaning within the murals.

Every single mural recorded a battle. Through these battles,

one could understand some prehistoric circumstances. After memorizing them, Lin Moyu finally stepped into the vortex.

Within the Secret Realm, Lin Moyu looked at the scene before him, showing a trace of surprise.

He had just seen the scene inside this Secret Realm in the battles shown by the murals. If he remembered correctly,

this was the battlefield recorded in the third mural. Had the creator of that Ancient Battlefield created a Secret Realm

to reenact the Ancient Battlefield recorded in the murals?

Since there was already a real record, why reenact it?

It seemed somewhat redundant. Lin Moyu's mind raced like lightning, and he realized something.

Entering the tomb and viewing the murals was secondary; the most important thing was that he had a quest to fulfill.

Clearing out the watchdogs, viewing the murals, and then coming here—

all of this was related to the quest. An existence of that level would not do anything meaningless.

The watchdogs were only to let him understand the abilities of the Mutated Rat Monsters, and the murals were to let him see prehistoric battles and know the real Bloody Legion.

Yet all of this would converge at the very end, which was right now.

"I see, so that's how it is!"

The corners of Lin Moyu's mouth curled up slightly.

He finally understood what the quest was and what he needed to do. The previous seven murals

were actually paving the way for the eighth mural. The eighth mural recorded the final experience of this tomb's owner.

Through the past scenes, Lin Moyu had seen the look in the other party's eyes behind the armor and felt his unwillingness.

That general had self-detonated with deep regret and unwillingness. There must be a reason for his unwillingness, and Lin Moyu guessed

that something must have gone wrong with the reinforcements. If the reinforcements had arrived just one hour earlier, he and his Divine Talisman Army

would not have died in battle. The quest requirement was to fulfill that general's dying wish, though it did not state what that wish was.

Before this, Lin Moyu could not figure it out either, but now he finally understood. The general's dying wish stemmed from his unwillingness.

He was unwilling to die just like that; he wished the reinforcements would arrive earlier, and hoped there would be a turning point in this battle of his.

After dying from self-detonation, the general did not truly turn to nothingness; he left behind a powerful obsession and unwillingness.

His obsession and unwillingness evolved into this Secret Realm. Here, Lin Moyu could even feel a trace of obsession that was incredibly difficult to dispel.

Later, the creator of the Ancient Battlefield modified the Secret Realm. His quest

was to help the general fulfill the obsession he left behind. He had to go reinforce the general and change the outcome of that battle,

so that he would not have to end his life by self-detonating. The battlefields formed by the first eight murals were linked together,

forming a massive map. If Lin Moyu wanted to reinforce him, he had to accurately find that general's location.

While this might be extremely difficult for others, for Lin Moyu,

it was not very hard. Over a hundred Legion Commanders appeared, summoning a massive amount of Dragon Cavalry.

They flew off in all directions. Lin Moyu did not know if the battle had already begun or how far he was from the battlefield.

At this moment, every second counted, so he chose the Dragon Cavalry. The speed of the Dragon Cavalry was much faster than that of the Skeleton Divine Generals,

which would save time. His vision constantly switched between the various Dragon Cavalry, quickly sketching out a detailed map in his mind as he observed.

Chapter 3148: How to Get Extra Rewards

Gradually, Lin Moyu discovered some information. The Secret Realm was based on the eight murals he had seen.

Some of the terrain inside was extremely similar to that in the eight murals. Although the contents of the eight murals differed,

they essentially took place in the same battlefield. Realizing this, Lin Moyu knew what he had to do.

As long as he followed the sequence of the murals, he would find the correct path. He was currently in the area marked by the third mural.

The next place he needed to go was the location marked on the fourth map, and then the fifth.

Then the sixth. The murals were road signs, and by following the direction they pointed,

he would eventually find the location marked on the eighth map. Others would have to follow the maps marked by the murals, but Lin Moyu did not need to.

The massive amount of Dragon Cavalry spread out like a giant net. They could directly find the location of the eighth map without needing to search one by one.

That was how others would do it, but Lin Moyu chose a method more suitable for himself. Under the command of the Legion Commanders,

the Dragon Cavalry launched Bloody Charges time and again. An ability originally meant to combat enemies had now become a means of travel.

Under repeated Charges, their speed exceeded that of the Skeleton Divine Generals by several times, and the map became more and more complete.

From it, Lin Moyu found the area of the fourth mural, followed by the sixth. After finding the area shown in the sixth mural,

it took a moment before he found the area shown in the fifth mural. Looking at the map in his mind, Lin Moyu

could not help but smile. As expected, if one followed the murals,

they would have to go to the fourth, then the fifth, and then make a detour to reach the area of the sixth mural.

Compared to going directly to the sixth mural's area, that would waste a lot of time. Lin Moyu still did not move.

He was waiting for the Dragon Cavalry to find the area of the eighth mural so he could strike directly at the heart of the matter. After a moment,

the seventh mural was also found. In another direction, the first and second murals were discovered at the same time.

Now the map had become extremely complete. On the entire map, only the area of the eighth mural

had not yet been discovered. The murals left traces to follow, so although it hadn't been found yet,

Lin Moyu had already locked onto the corresponding direction using the current map. A group of Dragon Cavalry rushed over at their fastest speed.

Soon, they obtained the result Lin Moyu wanted: the area shown in the eighth mural was finally discovered.
