Chapter 268: Underground Ice Sculptures

The moment the Five Elements Spirits appeared, the skinny old man chained by nine chains on the black rock above the White Cloud Sect immediately let out a chilling laugh, flying up and dragging the chained black rock away at high speed.

The Water Spirit among the Five Elements Spirits immediately turned its head and, without any fluctuation of spiritual power, transformed into a continuous flow of Qing Shui and headed toward it.

At the same time, the other three Spirits chose the direction of the Four Sects and flew off. Only the Fire Spirit stood mid-air, transforming into a sheet of blue flame, burning towards the surging Ancient Savages.

Immediately afterward, all the Cultivators of the Snow Domain chose the nearest Four Sects, transforming into streaks of cold light, and began the slaughter.

The ice and snow on the ground emitted bursts of Cold Qi. Cultivators of the Four Sects Alliance felt cold upon touching this Qi, but for the Cultivators of the Snow Domain, it was the best Magic Treasure and weapon. This Cold Qi could even, to some extent, restore their Spiritual Power and greatly replenish it.

The sky over the entire territory of the Four Sects Alliance was enveloped by multicolored lights of Magic Treasures. The locations of the Ink Stream Sect, the White Cloud Sect, the Green Wood Cliff, and the Black Soul Sect were the final battlegrounds for this war.

Some surviving Mortals on the ground hid in their homes, praying silently. They did not know the reason for this event, but most of them had never seen so many Cultivators in their lives.

At the borders of the Four Sects Alliance, the surrounding neighboring countries dispatched high-level Cultivators to surround the Alliance. They were not participating in the war, but preventing any Cultivator from leaving. Neither the Four Sects Alliance nor the Cultivators of the Snow Domain were allowed to take a single step outside.

Unless there was a final victor, there would be no exceptions.

The massive Savages strode forward, swinging their huge arms. With every punch, several Cultivators of the Snow Domain collapsed and died. There were a total of ninety-nine Savages!

They were located within the territory of the Four Sects Alliance, entangled in battle with the Cultivators of the Snow Domain.

Although the Savages possessed boundless strength, and every punch carried a Spell attack, even containing a trace of Concept, they were quite wary of the sheets of flame formed by the Fire Spirit's body.

One Savage had just smashed the bodies of two Cultivators of the Snow Domain into dust with a punch, but was immediately enveloped by a sheet of flame. Its entire body instantly emitted thick white mist and dissipated completely within a few breaths. Even the Cultivator controlling it could not escape death, being burned to ash by the flame.

What was strange, however, was that although the flame's temperature was extremely high, it had no effect on the snow on the ground.

On the contrary, after the massive Formation in mid-air was destroyed, endless blizzards once again blew out from those enormous Rifts. The snow grew heavier.

It wasn't just the woman in white among the Cultivators of the Snow Domain who brought out powerful Magic Treasures. These Cultivators of the Snow Domain clearly had a detailed plan before arriving. Several Cultivators of the Snow Domain walked out around the Four Sects.

A white-haired old woman near the White Cloud Sect spread her arms and chanted a series of complex and incomprehensible incantations. Immediately, a gust of strong wind blew out from the Rift in the sky. Following this, a hundred-zhang radius snowfield on the ground mysteriously lifted into the air.

When the strong wind blew across the snowfield, it immediately flashed with crystalline light and solidified entirely into ice. Then, the old woman's eyes flashed, and she slapped her forehead. Her Nascent Soul instantly flashed out of her body and merged into the block of ice.

As soon as the old woman's Nascent Soul entered the block of ice, the massive block trembled violently. Following this, it began to writhe strangely, transforming into an Ice Snow Giant in the blink of an eye.

The Giant's eyes flashed, revealing an icy crystalline color. It then slammed a punch into the ground, causing the earth to tremble, and another large area of ice and snow was shaken into the air.

The flying ice and snow seemed to be controlled by a mysterious force, condensing together to form a Long Spear, which the Ice Snow Giant grasped.

Next, some of the surrounding Cultivators of the Snow Domain began to replicate this scene, and Ice Snow Giants appeared across the land.

Some low-level Cultivators of the Four Sects Alliance realized, upon seeing this scene, why the Cultivators of the Snow Domain needed heavy snowfalls before attacking other countries: a majority of their Divine Abilities and Spells required ice and snow.

The same scene was unfolding around the other three sects. These Cultivators who used their Nascent Souls to catalyze Ice Snow Giants launched an offensive against the Cultivators rushing out from the Four Sects. For a time, the entire battlefield was quite chaotic.

In the sky, only the woman in white remained motionless, coldly observing the ground.

In the direction of the Ink Stream Sect, the old man atop the Bronze Cauldron was challenged by the Five Elements Metal Spirit. The old man pressed his right hand onto the Bronze Cauldron, and the symbols on the cauldron instantly came alive, appearing one by one. Under the control of the Old Man in Red, he began a Magical Battle against the Metal Spirit.

The mass of Black Sludge at the Green Wood Cliff was fighting the Five Elements Wood Spirit.

Countless Black Rays quickly drifted out from the sludge. Any Cultivator of the Snow Domain touched by these Black Rays immediately rotted away and died on the spot.

Even the Wood Spirit was having a difficult time fighting.

The most bizarre scene belonged to the frail young man from the Black Soul Sect, who was fighting the Five Elements Earth Spirit. The Earth Spirit was clearly struggling in the confrontation because the frail young man remained completely motionless, only his right hand holding a Black Brush occasionally tracing lightly through the Void Realm.

But with every light stroke, the Wood Spirit showed great apprehension and quickly dodged. Eventually, the young man even closed his eyes.

If one looked closely, they could see that he wasn't moving himself; rather, the brush in his hand was moving on its own.

At this point, the war had just begun. A large number of Soul Transformation Experts had not yet appeared from either country. The Soul Transformation Cultivators within the Four Sects were waiting. If the Cultivators of the Snow Domain only possessed these abilities, the possibility of the Four Sects Alliance being destroyed in this battle was low.

It could be said that within the Four Sects Alliance, especially the Old Fellows in the Soul Transformation Late Stage who had Cultivated for countless years, every one of them was staring at the woman in white in mid-air. They were also guessing whether this person was truly the Heavenly Chosen Maiden.

Once confirmed, they would initiate the first step of their plan! However, currently, confirmation was impossible!

Wang Lin was also waiting. Hidden within the Snow Peaks, he silently observed the war. Up to this point, he had seen countless Cultivators meet their demise.

However, a rather strange phenomenon caught Wang Lin's attention.

Any Cultivator from either country who died, even if their body turned into shredded meat, immediately froze upon hitting the ground, instantly becoming an Ice Sculpture before slowly sinking into the snow.

If that were all, it wouldn't have drawn much of Wang Lin's attention. But after observing for a few moments, he immediately noticed that the moment these corpses sank into the snow, a faint, almost imperceptible fluctuation of Spiritual Power gradually spread out.

This phenomenon caused a trace of unease in Wang Lin. He didn't know why, but seeing the corpses turn into Ice Sculptures and vanish into the snow gave him a deep Sense of Crisis.

After a moment of contemplation, Wang Lin, without a word, sank down from his Meditation spot and drilled beneath the ice and snow. He wanted to see what Mystery lay within.

Spiritual power could not be fully utilized within the ice and snow, so his movement was not fast. It took almost Two Incense Sticks' worth of time for Wang Lin to reach the ground beneath the ice and snow. His eyes flashed, and without stopping, he continued to descend using the Earth Evasion Technique.

At four thousand zhang beneath the ground, Wang Lin stopped. His expression was fluctuating, and a hint of surprise appeared in his eyes. He had detected that five thousand zhang beneath the surface, a massive Cavern had been hollowed out at some unknown time. This Cavern was boundless. Wang Lin guessed that the entire underground area of the Four Sects Alliance was likely covered by this Cavern.

Within this Cavern, every thousand zhang, there was an Ice Sculpture. These sculptures were about ten zhang tall, shimmering with strange light. Most importantly, all these Ice Sculptures looked identical: they were all hideous, with Human Heads and Snake Bodies.

Wang Lin roughly scanned the area. The number of Ice Sculptures was vast, and their placement seemed to contain some kind of rule.

All the corpses and shredded meat that died on the battlefield appeared here. As soon as they appeared, they were absorbed by the nearest Ice Sculpture, which swallowed both the corpses and the shredded meat entirely.

Wang Lin remained silent for a moment. He hadn't believed that the people of the Four Sects Alliance wouldn't discover the strangeness underground, but when he had descended earlier, he had used his Divine Sense to investigate and found no anomalies, not even detecting the Cavern itself.

One must know that Wang Lin's Divine Sense was already equivalent to the Soul Transformation Late Stage. If he couldn't see through it, then very few people in a Grade Four Cultivation Country could.

Wang Lin took a deep breath, slowly retreated, and returned to the ice and snow on the surface. He looked up at the sky, pondered for a moment, slapped his Storage Pouch, and took out a Sound Transmission Jade Slip.

This was something Zhou Wutai had left behind years ago. Wang Lin left a few words inside using his Divine Thought, flicked his right hand, and the Jade Slip immediately vanished.

Just then, his expression changed suddenly. He saw a sheet of flame appear in the sky, and a massive Savage was burned completely to ashes by it.

Although it had died, the flame did not stop; instead, it lunged toward Wang Lin in the distance.

Wang Lin's eyes flashed, and he immediately retreated. At the same time, he performed Hand Seals with both hands, and a Water Barrier instantly appeared in front of him, blocking the flame.

Using this obstruction, Wang Lin instantly vanished from his spot, reappearing Two Thousand Li away. His Instantaneous Movement was much faster than before.

The Water Barrier only obstructed the flame for a moment before instantly turning into White Vapor and dissipating. The flame drifted around once and then floated toward the White Cloud Sect.

Wang Lin did not want to Alert the Enemy, so he chose not to extinguish the flame. Instead, he found another place to conceal himself. Wang Lin would not reveal himself until all the Soul Transformation Stage experts from both the Four Sects Alliance and the Cultivators of the Snow Domain had made their move.
