Chapter 28: Strolling

"Is this opening for real?"

"My family is destroyed and I'm the only one left; this is the standard protagonist trope."

"But I don't even know who to take revenge against."

"By the way, is my name here still Junior Brother Bai Ming? Is it a coincidence, or…"

Junior Brother Bai Ming looked at the floor, struggling to digest the information given by Patriarch Song.

In the end, he reached a conclusion: he might not have transmigrated, but rather awakened memories of a past life.

First, when he was taking the medicinal bath, he examined his body carefully. Even the mole on his neck was in the same position; he was certain that this was his own body.

And through the conversations of several people, he learned that his background was untainted. No one had the slightest suspicion, and even his name was the same.

The most likely possibility was that after witnessing his family being completely wiped out by his own father, he had a mental breakdown. His memories were forcibly suppressed by his brain's defense mechanism, and by some stroke of luck, he awakened his past life memories.

Watching Junior Brother Bai Ming's somewhat dazed appearance, Patriarch Song shook his head. "I know it's hard for you to accept this for now, Ming'er, but you still need to adapt slowly. One must always look forward."

He waved his hand, directing Junior Brother Bai Ming's gaze to the woman in green robes beside him. "This is Qing'er. Do you remember her? You two were childhood sweethearts, innocent and inseparable; you should have some impression of her."

The woman in green robes had a subtle smile, her eyes curving into crescents. For a moment, Junior Brother Bai Ming felt his heart flutter; a familiar feeling washed over him.

"Is my resistance to beauties really this low? Why does my heart keep pounding whenever I see her?"

Patriarch Song laughed heartily. "It seems you do have some impression after all."

Junior Brother Bai Ming didn't deny it and nodded.

Song Wanqing lifted her sleeves and walked slowly and gracefully to his front. "Has Little Bai remembered anything?"

Junior Brother Bai Ming shook his head, then nodded slightly. "I can't recall specific memories, but I must have met you before, Miss."

Song Wanqing's eyes faintly shimmered with light. After a few breaths, a breeze of spring seemed to brush across her lips. "It's alright, Little Bai, you can recall it slowly in the future. But Little Bai, you used to call me Qing'er."

Junior Brother Bai Ming's lips trembled slightly, feeling somewhat embarrassed. The woman before him was as beautiful as a celestial being; being asked to use such an intimate address all of a sudden made him feel uncomfortable.

Under Song Wanqing's expectant gaze, Junior Brother Bai Ming said with some trepidation, "Qing'er?"

Song Wanqing wrapped her arms around Junior Brother Bai Ming, resting her head on his shoulder. "Little Bai, it's so good that you've woken up."

A faint fragrance wafted from the woman's smooth, dark hair, and a warm body temperature radiated against his chest. Song Wanqing's soft body enveloped Junior Brother Bai Ming completely.

His hands hung in the air, not knowing where to place them.

The sound of his heartbeat grew louder and louder, almost audible.

Junior Brother Bai Ming relaxed. It couldn't be wrong. This feeling—sure enough, she is a very important person to me.

"Thump, thump, thump."

The sound of his heartbeat seemed to pierce through his clothes, transmitting to the woman through their bodies.

Song Wanqing loosened her grip slightly and looked directly at the young man in her arms. "Are you very excited, Little Bai? I am too."

Junior Brother Bai Ming was unable to speak for a moment. He didn't understand why he was so excited; perhaps the past of being childhood sweethearts had left its mark on his body.

Even though he had lost his memories, he could still feel the stirring in his heart.

A cough interrupted their intimate moment.

Patriarch Song said in a deep voice, "Qing'er, Ming'er doesn't have his memories yet. Take him for a walk and see if he can remember anything."

Junior Brother Bai Ming felt a bit awkward. Doing this in front of someone's father felt a bit strange.

Song Wanqing didn't care at all and pulled Junior Brother Bai Ming's hand as she ran outside.

Patriarch Song rubbed his forehead. "I'm still here, Wanqing is… forget it."

The two left the hall.

Xiao Xue saw this and excused herself, leaving with an unreadable expression.

The weather was clear and the sun was bright. In the vast Song Mansion, there were two figures, one in front and one behind, strolling through it in a relaxed and leisurely manner.

A hint of softness came from Junior Brother Bai Ming's palm; the woman's fair hand was gripping his tightly, carrying a slight warmth.

"Qing'er, let's walk slowly." Junior Brother Bai Ming slightly loosened his palm; he didn't want the woman to see his embarrassment.

Song Wanqing smiled and withdrew her hand. "It seems you are still not used to it, Little Bai."

Junior Brother Bai Ming smiled shyly, his eyes hardening. "I, Junior Brother Bai Ming, will never forget this kindness from the Song family."

Song Wanqing stopped and gently shook her head. "Why so serious, Little Bai?"

Junior Brother Bai Ming shook his head. "I am just a bit dull."

Song Wanqing's star-like eyes brightened. "How about it? Remember anything yet?"

Junior Brother Bai Ming shook his head helplessly. "Sorry, I can't remember anything, but I can understand how good you are to me, Qing'er."

The kindness radiating from the beauty before him and her expectations for him made him feel a sense of comfort. He wanted to respond to these expectations and retrieve the memories of this life.

But no matter how he tried to think, not a single memory emerged; all he had was a sense of familiarity with the beauty before him.

Song Wanqing covered her mouth with her sleeve and chuckled. "Was what you just said true?"

"True."

Song Wanqing teased, "You're already such a smooth talker without your memories; what will you be like once you get them back?"

Junior Brother Bai Ming smiled. "Words from the bottom of my heart."

Song Wanqing's eyes flashed with a hint of brilliance. "Alright, I believe you."

This atmosphere seems pretty good.

Junior Brother Bai Ming felt a sense of relief and sighed with emotion.

The harmonious atmosphere made him feel at ease, and the smile of the beauty beside him dispelled the dark clouds overhead.

Junior Brother Bai Ming looked at his palm. "By the way, I should have cultivation too, right? Why can't I sense it?"

"My father was a Cultivator capable of forming a Golden Core; there's no reason I shouldn't be able to cultivate."

Song Wanqing sighed softly, her beautiful brows slightly furrowed. "That incident not only took your family away but also severely injured you; your cultivation regressed at that time."

"It's not that you have no cultivation, but that your cultivation has dissipated."

Junior Brother Bai Ming pondered, feeling a tinge of regret for his family he had never met. It was strange; they were clearly his own kin.

Yet he didn't have a single impression of them.

"Alright, let's not talk about these sad things." Song Wanqing turned her head. "You just need to remember one thing: I will always be by your side."

Junior Brother Bai Ming felt a warmth in his heart and nodded.

The two chatted and laughed, strolling through the vast Song Mansion.

The woman's neatly tied long hair was lifted by the breeze, and her slender fingers gently tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. The young man quietly admired the bright scenery and the beauty beside him.

The two were like old friends reunited after a long time, chatting intermittently.

Junior Brother Bai Ming sighed in his heart.

This new life seems pretty good.

The two walked through most of the Song Mansion area. Junior Brother Bai Ming witnessed the strength of the Song family and their high status in the city, with many Cultivators even serving as underlings.

Junior Brother Bai Ming suddenly spoke up. "By the way, Qing'er, can you demonstrate your spiritual power?"

Song Wanqing raised her right hand, and a mass of azure light appeared in her palm. "What's the matter?"

Junior Brother Bai Ming's eyes shone as he stared at the light. He was excited in his heart; this was spiritual power, truly miraculous.

"Are you very interested?"
