Chapter 299: The Immortal Cave’s Location

Wang Lin remained silent for a moment, then said, "I'm afraid it will be very difficult for just the two of us to successfully enter this place."

Chi Hu smiled slightly and said, "The two of us might not be enough, but I also invited someone else. If the three of us go together, our chances of success will naturally be much greater."

Wang Lin's eyes flashed, and he said, "I cannot answer this immediately. Please allow me a few days to consider."

Chi Hu nodded and said, "Naturally. If Brother Zeng decides, come to the fragment where the Jade Slip map is located one month from now. If Brother Zeng does not come after a month, I will not wait." As he spoke, he took out another Jade Slip and handed it to Wang Lin.

Wang Lin took it and saw that this Jade Slip, like the Great Luo Sword Sect's transmission item, was the key to activating the Teleportation Formation. However, among the many fragments shown on it, only one spot was bright.

"Holding this Jade Slip, when you enter the vortex, you can enter the designated location. Brother Zeng, I await your participation!" Chi Hu cupped his fists, turned, and left, stepping into the vortex without looking back, his figure vanishing.

Wang Lin put away the Jade Slip, sat cross-legged on the ground, and took out the Restriction Banner. With a shake, he covered the surroundings. He sat within the black fog, closed his eyes, and his Primordial Spirit slowly emerged from the top of his head. He formed hand Seals, revealing a pained expression. Gradually, a grain-sized Immortal Qi Crystal was forcibly expelled from the center of his Primordial Spirit's brow.

After the crystal emerged from the center of his Primordial Spirit's brow, the Primordial Spirit immediately became weak, appearing as though it could dissipate with a single gust of wind, and slowly sank back into his Physical Body.

After a long while, Wang Lin opened his eyes, a look of exhaustion on his face.

He held the Immortal Qi Crystal in his hand, glanced at it, and then placed it into his Storage Pouch.

Given Wang Lin's cultivation, he was fundamentally unable to fuse Immortal Qi, let alone an Immortal Qi Crystal. This Immortal Qi was a great treasure that Soul Transformation Cultivators could only attempt to absorb when they reached the Late Stage and were attempting to break through to the Nascent Soul Transformation Stage.

It could be said that the main reason there were few Nascent Soul Transformation Stage Cultivators on Vermilion Bird Star was the scarcity of Immortal Realm Qi, as not everyone had the opportunity to enter the Immortal Realm to obtain Immortal Qi.

Within some ten-thousand-year-old great Schools, there might be reserves of Immortal Qi Crystals, but generally speaking, these items could only be used in limited quantities by the talented geniuses or the Elders within those Schools.

The scarcity of Nascent Soul Transformation Stage Cultivators led to the rarity of Soul Transformation Stage Cultivators.

If one attempted to fuse Immortal Realm Qi before reaching the Late Stage of Soul Transformation, this item would no longer be a great treasure for the Cultivator, but rather a poison.

Wang Lin gave a wry smile. His Primordial Spirit was severely damaged. Fortunately, he had the Wandering Soul, and after consuming some, his Primordial Spirit recovered slightly.

He patted his Storage Pouch, and an item appeared in his hand. It was a piece of white jade stone from which waves of Immortal Realm Qi emanated. Wang Lin swept it with his Divine Sense and immediately realized that this so-called Immortal Jade was actually similar to a Cultivator's Spirit Stone.

The only difference was that Spirit Stones emitted Spiritual Qi, while Immortal Jade emitted Immortal Qi.

Wang Lin knew that after the Nascent Soul Transformation Stage, cultivation required more than just comprehending Concepts; Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi could no longer be absorbed, making Immortal Qi the most crucial item.

Naturally, the more of this item, the better.

Wang Lin knew the preciousness of Immortal Realm Qi, especially the Immortal Jade in his hand. If it were placed on Vermilion Bird Star, it would likely immediately cause a great catastrophe, and even the Vermilion Bird Country would move to seize it.

After taking a glance, Wang Lin put the jade away.

Although his Primordial Spirit was somewhat damaged during this trip to the Immortal Realm, the harvest was quite abundant. Wang Lin took a deep breath, his eyes flashing, and he took out another item from his Storage Pouch. This item was the golden metal piece from the chest of the corpse.

Sun Lei had once said this metal piece was a defensive Immortal Artifact, but the moment Wang Lin grabbed it previously, he immediately sensed that it absolutely could not be an Immortal Artifact.

He had no time to inspect it closely then, but now that he had settled down, he immediately moved his Divine Sense to investigate.

The instant his Divine Sense fused into the metal piece, his mind boomed, followed by a wave of dizziness. Immediately afterward, streams of information surged into his brain.

After a long time, Wang Lin stared at the metal piece with a look of astonishment, his eyes flashing intensely. He could now confirm that if the information on this item was true, then this metal piece was likely the most valuable of the three items.

This metal piece was an existence similar to a Jade Slip, and it recorded a method for refining something called the God-Slaying Chariot.

According to the description on the metal piece, the owner of the skeleton claimed to be Venerable Heavenly Treasure. After this person Ascended to the Immortal Realm, he devoted all his energy to refining Magic Treasures and had no interest in cultivation.

In reality, the reason he achieved the cultivation necessary to Ascend to the Immortal Realm was simply so he could live longer and complete his life's great ambition: to create the most powerful Magic Treasure in existence!

Unfortunately, this ambition was shattered by the catastrophe in the Immortal Realm. The God-Slaying Chariot, which he had developed throughout his life, ultimately did not meet his satisfactory requirements, so he sealed it within his Immortal Cave.

Just before the Immortal Realm catastrophe, he left his Immortal Cave, intending to collect some Materials and try again. Alas, that departure separated him from life forever.

Before his death, unwilling for his lifelong painstaking research to be cut short, he left behind this metal piece, waiting for a fated person to discover it.

Within the metal piece, this person dedicated extensive writing to the method of creating the God-Slaying Chariot—a method he was not entirely satisfied with—and provided the address of his Immortal Cave, urging the fated discoverer of the metal piece to retrieve the chariot there and, if capable, to continue the research.

Wang Lin took a deep breath. The method for creating this chariot was extremely complex. The Materials alone, most of which were extinct, made it impossible to manufacture again.

However, Wang Lin could tell from Venerable Heavenly Treasure's description that there must be some stock of the God-Slaying Chariot inside his Immortal Cave, which greatly moved Wang Lin.

After pondering briefly, he stood up, withdrew the Restriction Banner, and walked toward the vortex on the platform.

The few people on the platform, seeing Wang Lin approach, quickly averted their gaze. Most of these individuals were at the Nascent Soul Stage of cultivation. They dared not enter the vortex themselves, but instead planned to wait there for injured Cultivators to arrive so they could seize their possessions.

Wang Lin did not spare them a glance; he flew into the vortex.

Inside the vortex, Wang Lin's body continuously sank. During this process, he kept his eyes wide open. According to the records on the metal piece, Venerable Heavenly Treasure's Immortal Cave was located in the western part of the Immortal Realm.

However, since the Immortal Realm was now fragmented, he did not know if this person's Immortal Cave still existed or if it had been discovered by previous visitors.

Wang Lin's body continued to descend until he landed entirely on the ground of a fragment in the eastern part.

After glancing around, Wang Lin immediately soared into the air, rising again until he reached the platform above the vortex.

He then entered the vortex once more, continuously descending randomly. After several attempts, Wang Lin finally landed on a fragment in the western part.

According to Venerable Heavenly Treasure's description, his Immortal Cave was beneath a mountain peak shaped like a tiger. After Wang Lin landed on this fragment and swept it with his Divine Sense, he found no tiger-shaped mountain peak here.

He pondered for a moment. Although the search was difficult, he did not give up. Instead, he carefully searched this Immortal Realm Fragment. During the search, he saw two other Cultivators; after sizing each other up, they did not fight but passed by one another.

Several days later, Wang Lin found nothing. He ascended again and descended from the vortex once more. The people on the vortex platform had seen Wang Lin enter and exit multiple times over the past few days and speculated about the reason, but none dared to step forward and ask.

On this day, Wang Lin descended from the vortex again, landing not in the west, but on the eastern edge. After landing, he sighed inwardly. If he continued like this, he didn't know how long it would take to search all the fragments in the west.

Venerable Heavenly Treasure's Immortal Cave was truly too difficult to find.

Just as he was about to ascend and leave, two waves of Magical Power suddenly came from ahead. He saw two figures, one following the other, speeding toward him. The person in front was covered by countless black clouds, moving as fast as the wind. Behind him was a white-robed man holding a fan and wearing a cold smile.

At this moment, the person fleeing in front spotted Wang Lin and immediately flew toward him, shouting, "Fellow Daoist, save me!"

The white-robed man's expression was grim. He snapped his fan shut, raised his hand, and pointed forward. Instantly, a large hand suddenly appeared in the Void Realm and grabbed toward the fleeing person.

The person's expression changed. As if unable to dodge, he was instantly grasped by the large hand. But strangely, when the large hand squeezed, his body immediately transformed into countless small black insects that scattered instantly through the gaps between the fingers.

A hundred zhang away in front of Wang Lin, the person teleported out. Wang Lin focused his gaze and recognized this person as the bloodthirsty-eyed youth who had come with him from Vermilion Bird Star.

At this moment, his face was gloomy. After reappearing, he hesitated briefly, then stopped fleeing and turned to look at the white-robed person pursuing him.

The white-robed youth sized up Wang Lin, cupped his fists, and said, "Fellow Daoist, this matter does not concern you. Please leave!"

The youth immediately said, "Fellow Daoist, this person stole my Immortal Qi Crystal. If you help me kill him, the crystal will be split half and half between us!"

The white-robed youth narrowed his eyes and laughed loudly, "That's ridiculous! You clearly stole my item."

Wang Lin frowned. He had no desire to get involved in this mess. Without a word, he retreated and flew toward the distance.

The youth's expression changed, and he immediately chased after Wang Lin, shouting, "Fellow Daoist, help me this one time, for the sake of us both being from Vermilion Bird Star!"

Wang Lin's face darkened. He abruptly turned back and shouted, "Get lost! Do not drag me into your affairs. If you follow me again, don't blame me for being ruthless!"

The youth's eyes flashed with malice. He flicked his right hand, and a grain-sized Immortal Qi Crystal immediately flew toward Wang Lin. He then flashed away, speeding toward the distance.

"Since you don't want to help, I'll just shift this trouble onto you! I don't care if I lose the crystal!"

The white-robed youth's eyes flashed. He gave up on the youth and fixed his gaze on Wang Lin, flying toward him rapidly.

Wang Lin didn't even look at the crystal. He flicked it lightly with his right hand, and the item immediately flew toward the white-robed youth. The man was momentarily stunned before grabbing it. He cupped his fists and said, "Thank you! I am Sima Yun of the Kui Water School. May I ask who Fellow Daoist is?"

"Zeng Niu!" Wang Lin finished speaking, turned, and flew into the distance. He planned to search a bit more, return to the vortex, and try a few more times. If he still couldn't find the Immortal Cave, he would have no choice but to give up.

"Fellow Daoist Zeng, I have searched this area for several days, and there is no more Immortal Realm Qi here. There's no need to waste your time. Do you happen to have any Immortal Realm Teleportation Points? If so, perhaps we could exchange them." the white-robed youth said loudly.

Wang Lin paused his steps, turned around, and carefully sized up the man. This white-robed youth was at the Early Stage of Soul Transformation, but judging by the power of his Spell just now, it was considerable.

After a slight deliberation, he patted his Storage Pouch, and the Great Luo Sword School's Teleportation Jade Slip fell into his hand. He channeled Spiritual Energy into it, and a screen immediately appeared on the Jade Slip. Although most of the image was gray, more than thirty fragments emitted bright colors.

The white-robed youth looked closely, then likewise took out a Jade Slip from his Storage Pouch. With the infusion of Spiritual Energy, a screen of similar size appeared, showing more than twenty fragments flashing with bright light.

Wang Lin glanced at it, and his heart immediately stirred. Five of the fragments on the other party's map were in the west.

"Fellow Daoist Zeng, my map has twenty-one locations, eight of which overlap with yours. Excluding the duplicates, how about we exchange after you erase some to match the number?" the white-robed youth said.

Without a word, Wang Lin took out a blank Jade Slip and focused his mind to make an imprint. A short time later, after erasing some of the teleportation locations to match the other party's number, he looked at the man.

The white-robed youth was also imprinting a blank Jade Slip at this time. After a short while, the imprinting was complete. The two simultaneously tossed them and caught the other's slip.

"Fellow Daoist Zeng, if you ever have the opportunity to visit my Broken Silver Star, I will surely host you!"

"Sounds good!" Wang Lin nodded.

"I shall take my leave. That little beast dared to steal my item, and I certainly can't let him escape!" The white-robed youth smiled slightly, cupped his fists, and instantly teleported away, vanishing from the spot.

Wang Lin pondered briefly. Holding the exchanged Jade Slip, he opened the map and tapped on a fragment in the west that he hadn't visited yet. Instantly, a Teleportation Formation appeared in front of him. Wang Lin stepped into the formation and disappeared.

On a fragment in the western part of the Immortal Realm, there was a mountain peak. This peak was originally tiger-shaped, but now, this massive tiger-shaped mountain peak had been split in two.

Wang Lin floated in mid-air, his gaze calm as he looked at the peak.

On the third western fragment listed in the white-robed youth's Jade Slip, he finally found this tiger-shaped mountain peak. Although its appearance differed slightly from Venerable Heavenly Treasure's description, it was generally similar.

Wang Lin moved, flying toward the mountain peak. After circling the peak once, Wang Lin found the location of Venerable Heavenly Treasure's Immortal Cave at a spot near the foot of the mountain.

Looking at the Immortal Cave, Wang Lin's expression involuntarily sank.

The outer wall of the Immortal Cave was severely damaged, showing numerous traces of Spell bombardment. Clearly, it had been destroyed by someone years ago. Wang Lin landed outside the Immortal Cave and flew inside.

The Immortal Cave was small and completely empty. Wang Lin gave a wry smile. After expending so much effort to find this place, he was unfortunately too late.

But just then, his gaze suddenly focused.
