Chapter 331: The Deterrence of a Martial Ancestor

"Then Father, I will begin posting recruitment notices in the city!" Qin Ming said.

Qin Yuan asked, "Qin Ming, do you think recruiting Martial Artists like this will affect our Family's prestige?"

"Of course it will," Qin Ming stated firmly. "However, even if there is an impact, it won't be significant. Our Qin Family is a Family from Liu City; the entire Chenyang City knows this."

"Since we are a Family from Liu City, our foundation is naturally not as deep as the Families in Chenyang City. Even if we don't recruit Martial Artists, the Powers in Chenyang City could guess our foundation."

Qin Yuan paced back and forth, thought for a moment, and asked, "How can we improve our Family's prestige then?"

Family prestige is very useful at times like this; it makes other Families take you seriously and ensures they don't dare to cause trouble easily.

"Kill!" Qin Ming said coldly.

"Kill?" Qin Yuan was stunned. That simple word made him feel an incomparable chill. "Specifically, what should be done?"

"If the Qin Family wants to gain a firm foothold in Chenyang City, or even become its controller, the most important thing is Family prestige," Qin Ming explained. "Families like the Qu Family, the Zhang Family, and the Sima Family—their capabilities are clear for all of Chenyang City to see."

"Therefore, whether it's the Qu Family or the Sima Family, they are extremely arrogant in Chenyang City, and the rest of the city doesn't dare to move against them."

"If we want to smoothly take over Chenyang City, we must obtain prestige similar to that of the Qu and Sima Families. Our Qin Family has been in Chenyang City for a very short time and hasn't had the chance to build prestige. Currently, the only way to gain prestige as quickly as possible is to kill."

"Kill until they are terrified, kill until they are afraid, and then we will naturally take over Chenyang City."

Although the logic was simple and clear, Qin Yuan couldn't make up his mind immediately.

To take over Chenyang City through killing—how much slaughter would that require, and how many Families would be destroyed?

"Father, you don't need to worry about killing the innocent. Haven't we yet to hold the Family Relocation Banquet? This opportunity is perfect. We can send out invitations. Those who bring valuable gifts are our friends; those who don't come or are merely perfunctory are our enemies. This way, we can clearly distinguish friend from foe. Once that's done, it'll be easy. We find an excuse to kill a few Families, and Chenyang City will know the might of our Qin Family," Qin Ming said.

Qin Yuan thought about it and said, "This is indeed a method, but not necessarily a good one. What if most Families don't show up? Wouldn't our Qin Family lose Face?"

If the Qin Family held a banquet and most of the Families in Chenyang City didn't come—or if not a single one showed up—wouldn't the Qin Family become a laughingstock?

His Qin Family couldn't possibly risk universal condemnation by killing every single Family in Chenyang City, could they?

"Father, that situation won't happen," Qin Ming laughed.

"Why?" Qin Yuan asked curiously.

Qin Ming said, "Because Father is a Martial Ancestor. With the prestige of a Martial Ancestor, I believe many Families will see the situation clearly."

There are no Martial Ancestor Family Factions in the entire Chenyang City, but the Qin Family has a Martial Ancestor. Even if they don't become the overlords of Chenyang City, they will at least be a major Family.

These small Families might not see other things clearly, but how could they fail to see the path to survival? Families that couldn't even see that would have been destroyed long ago and wouldn't have survived until now.

It was just that his father had only recently advanced to Martial Ancestor and didn't yet know what a Martial Ancestor meant in Chenyang City.

Perhaps for the entire Great Xia Dynasty, a Martial Ancestor wasn't much, but for Chenyang City, a Martial Ancestor was a top-tier existence that ordinary Families could not treat lightly.

"Martial Ancestor." Qin Yuan understood instantly. Thinking from another perspective, if a Martial Ancestor Family invited his own Family to a banquet and he hadn't advanced to Martial Ancestor himself, he would certainly attend with fear and trepidation.

After all, for a Martial Ancestor to destroy a Family without one was simply too easy. Only a Martial Ancestor or an Expert above that level could deal with a Martial Ancestor.
