Chapter 341: The Lanterns from Back Then
Ling Wanqing watched the drifting lanterns, and like everyone else, she closed her eyes and began to make a wish.
No one knew what wish Ling Wanqing had made.
Su Yu looked at Ling Wanqing before him, his inner feelings reaching their limit.
Ling Wanqing opened her eyes and looked at Su Yu, discovering that he was watching her.
Seeing this, Ling Wanqing felt a hint of anticipation in her heart, but neither of them said a word.
Ling Wanqing collected herself and watched the distant lanterns until they disappeared from sight.
Ling Wanqing finally spoke, "Let's go too."
Ling Wanqing noticed that Su Yu didn't answer her. She turned back and saw him still staring straight at her.
Su Yu looked at Ling Wanqing in this moment and decided not to hesitate any longer; he had to take that step.
Su Yu looked at Ling Wanqing and said, "Miss Ling."
Seeing this, Ling Wanqing's heart raced for some reason, and she felt a bit nervous, but that anticipation she had felt earlier returned.
"Hmm?"
Su Yu said firmly, "Can you not leave? Please stay."
Su Yu felt somewhat nervous after saying this, but he also wanted to know what Ling Wanqing's answer would be.
If Ling Wanqing refused, the relationship between them would become very delicate.
Upon hearing this, a wave of joy flashed through Ling Wanqing's heart, and a flush of red appeared on her face.
Ling Wanqing did not hesitate for long, slowly uttering one word: "Okay."
Ling Wanqing had long understood her own feelings; since they had emerged, she would not try to hide them too much.
And the anticipation she had felt in her heart just moments ago had now become reality.
Hearing Ling Wanqing's words, Su Yu was overjoyed.
He was happier than he had ever been about anything before; this was one of life's three great joys.
Hearing this result, Su Yu gently embraced Ling Wanqing. "I like you."
Ling Wanqing rested her head on Su Yu's shoulder. "I like you too."
Under the moonlight, the two looked at each other.
Su Yu was moved as he looked at Ling Wanqing's face, and he slowly leaned in closer to her.
Ling Wanqing closed her eyes.
Coming back to their senses, the two were now sitting by the river, with Ling Wanqing leaning against Su Yu's side.
The two quietly watched the lanterns that drifted by on the river from time to time.
Su Yu said, "It seems what that person said back then was quite accurate."
Ling Wanqing replied, "It is."
"Alright, let's go back too."
"Okay."
The journey back was different for the two of them; they walked hand in hand under the moonlight, their hearts already connected.
Back in the courtyard, Ling Wanqing felt nervous again.
Su Yu, on the other hand, had become much bolder.
Ling Wanqing went into Su Yu's room, and not long after, the lamp in his room was extinguished.
The birds on the crooked tree seemed to have heard something, and they too appeared a bit shy.
The next morning, Su Yu watched Ling Wanqing as she was still sleeping.
Fortunately, his cultivation base was solid, otherwise things would have gone wrong.
Ling Wanqing sensed some movement beside her, and upon opening her eyes, she found Su Yu watching her.
This made Ling Wanqing feel a bit shy.
Su Yu smiled. "You're up."
The two went out into the courtyard. Su Yu looked around, thinking that from now on, there would be one more person in this courtyard.
Ling Wanqing returned to her own room to bring some of her things over to Su Yu's place.
She would just use this place as a spot to Cultivate.
Seeing this, Su Yu went over to help Ling Wanqing move her things.
After they finished, Han Ting ran over.
Han Ting noticed that the atmosphere between Su Yu and Ling Wanqing was different now.
She had seen this kind of atmosphere between her father and mother; the way the two looked at each other now was different.
Thinking of this, Han Ting silently clenched her fists, but she still had to ask.
Han Ting went up to Su Yu and asked in a low voice, "Uncle Yu, are you and Sister Ling…?"
Su Yu looked at Han Ting; this girl definitely deserved credit for this outcome.
Su Yu nodded.
Han Ting said happily, "That's great! I'll be able to see Sister Ling from now on!"
Seeing this, Ling Wanqing smiled.
Han Ting had originally wanted to invite them out, but it seemed that wouldn't be necessary now.
Han Ting waved at them. "Well, Uncle Yu, I won't disturb you two anymore. I'm leaving now."
Han Ting was happy all the way back.
When Han Ting returned home, she called out, "Dad!"
Han Shi saw Han Ting's happy expression and asked, "What happened? Why are you so happy?"
Han Ting said, "Sister Ling and Uncle Yu have become Dao Companions!"
Upon hearing this, Han Shi said, "That's wonderful! Brother Su has finally figured it out. I must go and celebrate."
He then said, "Yu Yan, let's go to Brother Su's and celebrate with him."
Wang Yuyan immediately said, "Let's go in a while. There's no rush."
Han Ting also chimed in, "Exactly, exactly. Don't go and disturb them now. I left immediately after getting the news."
Han Shi scratched his head. "Alright then."
Ling Wanqing was brewing tea for Su Yu in the courtyard.
Ling Wanqing now had more things to consider. Now that Su Yu was her Dao Companion, the gap in their true cultivation levels was too large.
She was already at the Peak Transformation Stage, while Su Yu was still at the Golden Core Middle Stage, although he was about to enter the Late Stage Golden Core.
She had to secretly help Su Yu raise his cultivation level.
If it really came down to it, she had her own methods. Although it would cost a significant price, it didn't matter; she would not leave Su Yu behind alone. She had already set her heart on him.
There was another point: Su Yu did not know her true appearance; he did not know that she was actually Ling Wanqing.
Right now, their faces were different, which made Ling Wanqing unsure of how to bring it up, but she certainly wouldn't say anything now.
She figured Su Yu might not be able to accept it right away. Forget it, she would just leave it like this until it became absolutely necessary. She would take it one step at a time; the road ahead was still long, so she should enjoy the present.
Su Yu's thoughts were similar. He knew Ling Wanqing's potential; given time, Ascension would not be a difficult task for her.
But his own true cultivation level was hard to explain. Should he tell Ling Wanqing now that he had reached the Mahayana stage and also possessed many other things?
Forget it, never mind. He would talk about it later. Regardless, with him around, nothing would happen to Ling Wanqing.
Even if he had to fight alone against the Three Thousand Realms for her, Su Yu would not hesitate in the slightest. He would always stand before Ling Wanqing.
Their inner thoughts were different, but both were considering the other, not caring about their own well-being.
However, given their lifestyles and philosophies, it was unlikely they would encounter any danger; both of them would see their philosophy of "lying low" through to the end.
Ling Wanqing looked at Su Yu; she still had to return to the Celestial Maiden Sect, but she would be back quickly.
After all, she had promised Yue Xin that she would go back during this period.
Thinking of this, Ling Wanqing decided that she was not prepared to tell Yue Xin about her current situation for the time being.
Ling Wanqing couldn't imagine the scene when her disciple and Yue Xin found out about this; she decided it was better to just forget about it.
