Chapter 38 Ye Chen was frustrated and survived
Ye Chen’s body trembled violently, blood slowly trickled from his seven orifices, and his face instantly turned ashen white like gold paper.
The Fifth-Grade Dao Foundation, which had just stabilized within his Dantian, once again vibrated violently, cracking into several tiny fissures.
His originally pure Spiritual Qi became incredibly chaotic, surging wildly through his meridians, wantonly scorching them.
What terrified Ye Chen most was that he could feel the aura within the ring, after unleashing that earth-shattering strike, it had become extremely faint and ethereal, like a flickering candle in the wind, threatening to extinguish at any moment!
To eliminate such a powerful enemy at the Ninth Level of Foundation Establishment, the consumption was far greater than any previous attack!
“Master…Master!”
Ye Chen roared anxiously, his voice hoarse.
“…It’s fine…hurry…leave…this place…there’s…danger…”
The already ancient voice from the ring was intermittent and extremely weak, as if every word expended all his strength.
Ye Chen’s heart was filled with immense panic and guilt.
His Master had paid an unimaginable price to save him!
Enduring the severe pain in his body, Ye Chen struggled to get up, not bothering to search Chen Wei’s scattered belongings.
He took a deep look at Chen Wei’s cold corpse, his thoughts racing.
He had calmed down now. There weren't many people in Wenxian Sect who held a grudge against him, Ye Chen, and Zhou Chen was most likely one of them.
Besides, Ye Chen wasn’t a fool. The only one with the strength to contend with Chen Wei and the motive to frame him was Zhou Chen.
Ever since he met Zhou Chen, he felt that nothing had gone right for him. Not only had Zhou Chen taken away the honor that should have belonged to him, but his Luck had also become increasingly worse.
Thinking of this, a cold glint flashed in Ye Chen’s eyes.
“Zhou Chen! It must be you, right! You are the one who harmed me and Master like this! This hatred is irreconcilable!”
Gritting his teeth, Ye Chen wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, identified the direction, and stumbled into the dark dense forest.
He had to find an absolutely safe place to heal as soon as possible, secretly praying that his Master would also pull through this ordeal quickly.
The road back to Wenxian Sect became even longer and more perilous than the way there.
Soon after he left, Ye Chen saw from a distance that dozens of fireworks rose into the sky from the place where he had killed Chen Wei, their flames soaring.
“Who killed my son!! I will tear you to pieces!!!”
“Everyone, search for him immediately! I want him alive or his corpse!!!”
“If you don’t find him, you will all be buried with my son.”
A white-haired, hunched old man appeared, his words chilling to the bone.
“Yes!!”
As soon as the hunched old man finished speaking, dozens of figures around him quickly dispersed in different directions, clearly well-trained and organized.
Even from a great distance, Ye Chen could feel that towering killing intent.
Chen Wei’s status seemed very high, and the impending crazy retaliation from the Blood Demon Sect weighed heavily on Ye Chen’s heart.
The night was blood-red, and the mountain forest was deathly silent.
Ye Chen’s stumbling figure appeared behind an ancient tree.
He coughed up a mouthful of black blood mixed with fragments of internal organs, and his already pale face turned even grayer.
“Master…”
Ye Chen looked at the dull ring on his ring finger, a huge panic rising in his heart.
This was the first time he had encountered such a dangerous situation since he began cultivating.
The Ring Spirit’s aura was so faint it had almost disappeared, and no matter how he called out, there was no response.
This silence made Ye Chen feel more despair than his physical pain, and his hatred for Zhou Chen grew even stronger.
The intense sense of crisis brought by the Blood Demon Sect also constantly stimulated Ye Chen’s nerves.
“I can’t go back towards the Sect! I must take a detour, I must shake off any potential pursuit!”
The thought flashed through his mind.
A ruthless glint flashed in Ye Chen’s eyes. He bit his tongue, forcibly mustered a sliver of spirit, and immediately sped off in the southwest direction, completely opposite to Wenxian Sect.
However, his internal condition was extremely poor.
The Ring Spirit’s last strike not only exhausted his own Soul Power but also caused extremely severe backlash to Ye Chen’s body.
To make matters worse, the residual Spiritual Qi of the Flame Emperor Prison Breaking Skill, now seemingly unbound, was rampaging wildly within his body like a runaway horse.
If he didn’t possess the Fire Spirit Body, he would have been burned to death by now.
From time to time, the roars of Yao Beasts came from a distance, most likely indicating that the pursuers had arrived.
“Not here, go check over there.”
“There’s blood here, everyone stay alert.”
“Sky checked.”
“River checked.”
“Forest being searched.”
The human voices in the distance became increasingly clear.
Ye Chen’s speed was several times slower than when he was at his peak. He dared not fully circulate his Cultivation Technique to heal or fly, fearing that the Spiritual Qi fluctuations would attract Yao Beasts or pursuers.
“Pfft!”
After forcefully running for dozens of miles, Ye Chen once again vomited a large mouthful of fresh blood.
The Spiritual Qi in his body completely lost control, his legs gave out, and Ye Chen fell miserably onto a patch of rubble.
The intense pain almost made him faint.
“No…I must find an absolutely safe place to heal…I must hold on!”
Ye Chen struggled to get up, looking around. The mountain shadows under the moonlight loomed, like giant beasts ready to devour people.
“That way…seems safer!”
His thoughts raced, and he changed direction again, rushing towards a rugged cliff area in the direction where the Spiritual Qi was thinnest and the terrain most treacherous, according to his perception.
His mind was chaotic, and he made decisions based on pure survival instinct.
His heavily injured body climbed and moved on the rugged cliff face. Ye Chen’s feet slipped several times, putting him in perilous situations.
Sweat and blood mixed together, soaking his clothes, making him look extremely disheveled, and Ye Chen’s physical strength was rapidly draining.
After an unknown amount of time, just as Ye Chen felt his consciousness about to blur, his foot slipped on wet moss, and his entire body instantly lost balance!
“Oh no!”
Ye Chen only had time for this thought to flash through his mind before his body uncontrollably tumbled and fell down the steep rock face.
“So painful!”
Severely injured and with a chaotic consciousness, Ye Chen was unable to mobilize much Spiritual Qi to protect himself. He could only instinctively protect his head with his hands.
The feeling of the world spinning did not last long.
Thud!
Ye Chen’s body crashed into a stream of icy cold water. The immense impact made him choke on several mouthfuls of water, and then he was swept away by the turbulent undercurrent.
The icy river water stimulated him, causing him to shiver involuntarily.
“Water?”
Ye Chen struggled to get his head above water, greedily taking a gulp of air.
It turned out that beneath this cliff was an underground river!
A strong will to survive supported Ye Chen. He exerted his last ounce of strength, struggling to swim towards the shore.
Just as he was about to run out of energy, his left hand grabbed a thick vine hanging into the water from the bank.
“Cough…cough…”
With immense effort, Ye Chen finally managed to crawl onto the bank.
Ye Chen collapsed on the ground, gasping for breath.
If he weren’t a Cultivator with a body different from ordinary people, he would have reincarnated long ago, Ye Chen secretly congratulated himself.
However, the tearing sensation caused by the cracks in his Dao Foundation and the Spiritual Qi conflict made him feel as if ten thousand ants were gnawing at his heart, causing him to curl up into a ball.
“I can’t…I can’t pass out here…”
Ye Chen struggled to lift his head, his gaze sweeping around.
The underground river beneath the cliff flowed ceaselessly, with moonlight barely penetrating, only sparse light and the sound of gurgling water.
However, when Ye Chen’s gaze landed on a crevice in the cliff wall not far away, his pupils suddenly contracted!
