Chapter 39: Slaughtering Wildly

After a long while, the commotion on the road gradually subsided.

Having lost their target, the horde of mutated beasts receded like a tide, each vanishing deep into the dark ruins.

Only then did Zhou Huai control Yasuo to slowly step out from the shadows of a broken wall.

He arrived at the place where the nine members of the Radiant Alliance had just perished.

The air was filled with a thick, lingering stench of blood and burning, which was nauseating.

The ground was a complete mess, with severed limbs and broken internal organs visible everywhere.

The terror of those people before their deaths was still frozen on their distorted faces.

Most of the equipment on their bodies had been torn to pieces under beast claws and corrosive liquids, losing its value.

Zhou Huai searched for a moment, only finding a few bottles of low-quality healing potions.

There was also a barely intact staff, Rank 20 rare quality, with a charred shaft, and the crystal embedded at the top was also covered in fine cracks.

Better than nothing.

Yasuo tucked the loot into his arms, turned, and with a few leaps, returned to the two-story building.

Jasmine was curled up by the window, her small face still somewhat pale.

Seeing Yasuo return, an unusual brilliance instantly bloomed in her eyes, as if she had seen a savior.

"Bo… Boss!" Her voice carried a trace of lingering tremor, yet it was filled with genuine adoration.

"You… You are simply… too… too incredible!"

Racking her brains, she still seemed unable to find more suitable vocabulary to describe the shock in her heart.

This feeling did not simply stem from the strength Yasuo displayed.

It lay even more in the composure and confidence on him, as if everything was under control.

He could always turn a seemingly impossible desperate situation into a killing field within a flip of his hand.

Jasmine took a deep breath, her tone carrying a bit of hope.

"Boss, since that gang of pursuers has all been dealt with,"

"can we leave this Old City District now?"

"This place… this place is simply too scary, I… I don't want to stay for even a single moment longer."

Yasuo stood by the window, casting his gaze toward the deep night curtain, his tone flat and without a ripple.

"No rush."

Jasmine was slightly taken aback.

She only heard Yasuo continue, "The good show is just beginning."

"Good show?" Jasmine blinked, her face full of confusion, completely failing to understand the meaning behind Yasuo's words.

Zhou Huai did not explain, only instructing, "Just stay right here."

"Keep a close eye on the movement outside for me, especially in the direction of Clear Water Lake."

"If anyone enters the Old City District again, remember to tell me in time."

Although Jasmine was puzzled in her heart, her trust in Yasuo was close to blind obedience.

She nodded hard, "Yes, Boss! I understand!"

Time passed minute by minute.

The Old City District fell into a strange, dead silence.

About an hour later.

Jasmine, who had been staring closely out the window, suddenly trembled slightly, her voice carrying tension.

"Boss! Someone really has come again!"

"And they came from the direction of Clear Water Lake!"

"There are even more people this time! I roughly counted, at least twelve!"

Zhou Huai sneered internally, "They move pretty fast. It seems they won't shed tears until they see their coffins."

Under Jasmine's gaze, Yasuo's figure once again melted into the darkness outside the window.

Before long, the familiar beast roars and human exclamations and screams came from afar once again, but compared to the last time, the commotion seemed much smaller and ended much faster.

It was no more than half an hour from start to finish.

When Yasuo reappeared inside the small building, Jasmine could even smell a faint trace of blood and burning from him.

"They… they also…" Jasmine asked cautiously.

Yasuo nodded slightly, which counted as an answer.

Zhou Huai patiently waited.

He wanted to see just how many people this Radiant Alliance, or rather his good stepmother, could throw into the bottomless pit of the Old City District.

A long time passed again.

So long that Zhou Huai even thought the Radiant Alliance wouldn't send anyone else to throw away their lives tonight.

Jasmine's voice, carrying irrepressible terror, rang out once again.

"Bo… Boss!"

"They… they are coming again! Oh God! This time… this time there are even more people! I can't see the exact number, but… but there are at least twenty!"

Her voice was trembling, "And… and I feel like their auras are so strong! Much stronger than the previous two batches of people!"

Zhou Huai's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Twenty people? Are they all elites?"

"Liu Yuru, it seems she's truly desperate and willing to spend a fortune."

Instead, a curve hooked up at the corner of his mouth.

"No matter what, this batch of people must stay here today."

Yasuo, this Clone, if it dies then it dies, and twenty-four hours later it would be a fine hero again.

Using a Clone that could be resurrected at any time to consume the living force of the Zhou Family and Liu Yuru, no matter how one calculated it, this deal was worth it.

"Today, I'll make you Zhou Family bleed heavily for once!"

Zhou Huai controlled Yasuo and once again plunged into the night curtain.

This time, he clearly felt the pressure double.

This newly arrived batch of Radiant Alliance members not only had a large number of people, but their overall strength also far exceeded the previous two batches.

Their actions were well-coordinated and their vigilance was extremely high; they were clearly experienced veterans.

Zhou Huai repeated his old trick, luring over an elite BOSS [Shadow Panther] with a Rank as high as 29, along with a small wave of mutated beasts that followed.

However, the battle situation exceeded his expectations.

Those twenty Radiant Alliance members, under the command of a burly, giant-shield-wielding brawny man whose Rank shockingly reached 40, actually formed a solid battle array!

The ranged classes frantically outputted damage in the rear, the melee classes desperately held off the impact of the mutated beasts on the periphery, and the light of the healing classes flickered continuously.

They actually forcefully withstood the impact of the first wave of the beast tide!

Although that Shadow Panther was fierce, it was also tightly entangled by that Rank 40 shield warrior, making it difficult to break through the defense line for a time.

"This is a bit interesting." Zhou Huai raised his brows slightly.

"Since one isn't enough, I'll add a little more to your meal!"

Yasuo's figure roamed along the edge of the battlefield, dodging stray arrows and magic, once again darting deeper into the Old City District.

A moment later, accompanied by an even more berserk roar, a [Spite Aggregate Rank 30 (Elite BOSS)] burning with eerie green flames all over and the size of a small mountain was successfully "invited" to the battlefield by Yasuo!

The joining of the second BOSS instantly shattered the original balance of the battlefield.

The Spite Aggregate's large-scale flame breath and spite impact dealt a devastating blow to the Radiant Alliance's formation.

The backline ranged and healing classes suffered heavy casualties instantly.

The battle line that could barely be maintained earlier collapsed like a mountain in an instant.

Although that Rank 40 shield warrior resisted valiantly, under the siege of the two elite BOSSes and the remaining mutated beasts, he was still hard-pressed to stand alone, and damage numbers constantly burst forth from his body.

In the end, he let out an angry roar, activated some kind of burst skill, and forcefully carved out a bloody path, fleeing for his life toward the outside of the Old City District with the two or three remaining soldiers by his side without looking back.

Yasuo's figure appeared at the top of an abandoned clock tower, coldly watching their pathetic, fleeing backs.

This time, he did not pursue.

Through this battle, the Radiant Alliance directly lost more than forty members.

The losses were huge!

It was simply slaughtering wildly.

It also shocked the onlookers gathered around Clear Water Lake.
