Chapter 4: The Wicked Have Their Own Tormentors

Su Wan finally managed to surface, only to be met by a heavy slap from Su Xi.

Su Wan was truly innocent; she didn't know how she fell, but she was certain she fell into the ditch because someone had kicked her hard in the buttocks.

Su Wan resentfully clutched her slapped right cheek, on the verge of tears: "Fifth Sister, someone kicked me. I didn't want to fall."

Su Xi sneered: "There's only you and me here. Who do you think would kick you? Why aren't you getting up there to find a cloak for me to wear?"

"But…" Su Wan lowered her eyelids pitifully.

The water-soaked Light Gauze Flowing Immortal Skirt clung tightly to her body, accentuating her exquisite curves and making her red Dudou underneath very visible. If she went out like this and was seen, wouldn't it be mortifying?

"How about… we call for help?" Su Wan held her head and thought for a long while before suggesting weakly.

"No! What if men come and see everything? Go, now!" Su Xi looked fierce!

"No, I can't…" Su Wan shook her head desperately, refusing to agree.

"Then strip off your clothes and give them to me!" Su Xi, fuming with rage, reached out to pull at Su Wan's outer garment.

"Fifth Sister, stop, stop it…" Su Wan clutched her chest, refusing to let go. She only had a layer of thin gauze on the outside and a Dudou inside!

"Then hurry up and go?!" Su Xi grabbed Su Wan and ruthlessly threw her onto the shore.

Standing on the shore, Su Wan shivered from the cold and was about to run away desperately.

However, at that moment, for some reason, a fire suddenly broke out in the woods.

From afar, someone seemed to be shouting: "Fire… there's a fire in the woods… everyone, go put it out…"

The small woods were right next to this Lotus Pond, very close. The surroundings were almost completely open, with no rockeries or large stones, leaving nowhere to hide.

Seeing countless people heading this way, Su Wan turned pale with fright and lost her head. She covered her chest with her hands, pacing anxiously in place.

"Run! Run!" Su Xi, hidden in the Lotus Pond, urged loudly in a panic! It would be too late if she didn't run now!

But it was already too late.

Watching the sound of numerous footsteps getting closer, Su Wan trembled with fear and instinctively jumped back into the ditch.

With a splash, the water sprayed up high.

Su Luo almost laughed out loud.

However, Su Wan's choice wasn't entirely stupid. After all, the water in the pond wasn't deep, and the pond was full of blooming lotuses. With the cover they provided, no one would notice someone hiding inside unless they looked closely.

"Why did you come back in!" Su Xi was so angry her hair was practically standing on end, and she delivered a heavy slap to Su Wan's face.

Su Wan was also unhappy now: "Fifth Sister, don't go too far!" She had a temper too, okay?

Su Xi glared fiercely: "Too far? Who's going too far? If you hadn't pushed me in, would I be in such a mess? Mark my words, I won't let you off once we get out!"

"But I didn't do it on purpose; someone really did push me!"

"Who pushed you? Go on, find them and show me!"

Ignoring the chaotic footsteps, the two sisters actually started arguing right there in the ditch.

Su Luo watched coldly with a malicious smile, nonchalantly observing this rare scene of sisters turning on each other. She was looking forward to the next part of the play; it had better be exciting, so that the fire she had set wouldn't go to waste.
