Chapter 40: Investigation (VII)

Karl watched this scene with great interest,

"Master, you are truly impressive. It seems you held back when dueling me; otherwise, I might have been reduced to a pile of scrap metal long ago."

Meanwhile, Lin Fan quickly retrieved the No. 000 phone from his waist, his fingers sliding rapidly across the screen.

"Block radio interference signals."

Following his command, the electronic signals in the air suddenly underwent a drastic change.

The surrounding radio interference was instantly eliminated, and the communication Systems on the battlefield returned to normal.

The control and weapon Systems of Thunder, Blood Hammer, and the mechanical troops were restored to their preset states.

"Do not let a single one escape."

Following his command, Thunder and Blood Hammer led the mechanical troops into action.

They locked onto the enemies' positions with pinpoint accuracy and marched heavily toward the surrounding foes, preparing to carry out a purge.

Upon sensing the shift in the situation, the enemies' faces turned instantly pale.

"Retreat!"

Several enemies shouted in panic, attempting to flee toward the surrounding exits.

However, every step they took was tightly monitored by the mechanical troops' sensors; there was absolutely no chance of escape.

Lin Fan's gaze was like a blade as he scanned the mechanical troops under his control.

"Let them know the cost of resistance."

His words were simple and direct, yet filled with chill.

This battle had finally entered its final decisive stage, and the enemies had no room left to turn the tables.

Lin Fan captured a large number of Black Obsidian Organization members and bound them in the center of the courtyard, establishing multiple defensive lines around them to ensure they could not escape.

The courtyard was quiet, save for the bound Black Obsidian Organization personnel, who squirmed uneasily and whispered among themselves, clearly terrified of the impending interrogation.

Lin Fan lay on an exquisite sun lounger, holding a drink carefully prepared by the chef.

Princess Hu Qinlan, Princess Jin Xuan, and Yin Miaoxue stood obediently behind him.

They were dressed in their usual JK uniforms, their figures elegant, especially their legs beneath the short skirts, which were charming beyond words.

Lin Fan took a sip of his drink, slowly opened his eyes, and looked at the struggling Black Obsidian Organization members.

"Speak. Who sent you, and what is your objective?"

Several captured Black Obsidian Organization members exchanged glances, clearly weighing whether they should speak.

Lin Fan did not take his eyes off them as he slowly adjusted his seating posture.

"If you confess obediently, you might be able to keep your lives. If you continue to remain silent, I wouldn't mind letting you experience the feeling of having your heart torn out."

The Black Obsidian Organization members looked at each other; they had clearly heard of Lin Fan's methods long ago.

Before them, Gerto's corpse still lay quietly, the blood hole in his chest chilling to behold, the bright red blood stains seemingly silently recounting Lin Fan's cruelty.

Their hearts began to race, and fear spread among them.

One of the slightly older men finally couldn't help but whisper: "We… we came for you, Lin Fan."

Lin Fan's gaze turned sharp in an instant, as if he had anticipated this all along.

"Why are you looking for me? Who instructed you?"

The older man swallowed hard, seemingly considering how to answer. Finally, he couldn't help but continue: "It was the upper echelons of the Black Obsidian Organization. Your battle with the Nightingale unit caught their attention. Our organization's leadership believes your combat prowess is exceptionally strong, especially the techniques and methods displayed during the battle, which cannot be underestimated. We… we were sent to investigate your background."

"So, you came to test me?"

"Yes, we needed to assess your potential and decide whether to let you join us, or…"

He paused here, hesitated for a moment, and then added: "Or… eliminate you, to prevent you from becoming a threat to us in the future."

Yin Miaoxue and Princess Jin Xuan frowned almost simultaneously, their eyes filled with disdain and anger.

They knew very well that these people from the Black Obsidian Organization would not give up; if their plan failed, more people would come next, which might even trigger a larger conflict.

After hearing these words, the corners of Lin Fan's mouth curled up slightly: "You are truly bold, daring to plan so much, and even having the intention of making me join the organization."

He raised his hand slightly, pointing at the Black Obsidian Organization members in the center of the courtyard: "Now, you have a choice: continue to hide the truth, or pay the price for your organization's betrayal."

The older Black Obsidian Organization member lowered his head nervously, clearly realizing that if he continued to hide the truth, the consequences would be very severe.

He was silent for a while, but ultimately chose to speak: "There is also… also, we are not the only ones sent. The upper echelons of the Black Obsidian Organization have decided to send more people to conduct deeper investigations and interference regarding you, and are even preparing to lure you from the outside world into areas under our control."

"It seems the forces behind you are not small. You, the Black Obsidian Organization, truly do not know when you are going to die."

Princess Hu Qinlan stood to the side, saying in a calm tone: "Since they have already sent people, I am afraid this trouble will not be small. Lin Fan, we need to make a choice: should we completely annihilate these people to avoid future trouble?"

Princess Jin Xuan's gaze was equally sharp, and she slowly clenched her fists: "Since they are so self-righteous, I wouldn't mind letting them know what a true powerhouse is."

Lin Fan's voice was deep and filled with pressure. His gaze swept coldly over the Black Obsidian Organization members in front of him as he continued: "Galactic Federation University, the Level 4 Civilization Shield Generator underground—how much do you know about it?"

There was a moment of silence; everyone could feel the heavy atmosphere in the air. The Black Obsidian Organization members looked at each other, clearly not expecting Lin Fan to bring up this topic.

Several of the younger members appeared somewhat nervous and dared not act rashly, while the older Black Obsidian member furrowed his brow, as if trying hard to recall.

"Why are you asking about this?" the older man finally spoke, his voice trembling as he asked.

Lin Fan did not rush to answer, but instead continued to analyze on his own: "Galactic Federation University appears to be an ordinary higher education institution on the surface, yet it hides secrets underground. A Level 4 Civilization Shield Generator, existing in such a place, surely has some incredible underlying intent behind it."

He chuckled lightly, his tone carrying a hint of sarcasm: "And you, the Black Obsidian Organization, are clearly inextricably linked to these secrets. Perhaps your goal is not just to expand your own power, but to control this technology that is far beyond your understanding, right?"

The older man remained silent, his complexion becoming increasingly pale, clearly realizing that Lin Fan had already gained insight into this matter.

He dared not answer casually and simply hung his head powerlessly.

Lin Fan's gaze became even sharper: "The true goal of your Black Obsidian Organization is not just control on the surface; even the secrets of Level 4 civilization have begun to infiltrate your strategic layout. I suspect that Galactic Federation University has long since become one of your pawns. Unfortunately, only people like you would dare to associate with such dangerous forces."

"You know too much," the older man said through gritted teeth, finally losing his composure. "However, that Level 4 Civilization Shield Generator is indeed the work of the Ningguta Authorities. We only received some unclear instructions and came into contact with some scattered technical data. If you want to know more, I'm afraid you'll have to find someone at a higher level."

Lin Fan's heart stirred slightly; the Ningguta Authorities…

"So, you did not obtain the complete data?"

"The data we have was redacted and suppressed."

Lin Fan's voice was as cold as frost, and he commanded without emotion: "Fine. Thunder, burn all of these people to death. Do not leave a single survivor."
