Chapter 404: Secret Manual Room 1
At Su Luo's command, everyone prepared for battle.
A faint glimmer of light began to appear ahead in the corridor.
Everyone followed closely behind Su Luo, treading carefully and quietly, holding their breath as they moved forward.
Nangong Liuyun suddenly pulled Su Luo behind him, taking the lead at the front of the group.
It was a subtle gesture, perhaps subconscious on his part, but it was precisely because of this that Su Luo felt particularly touched.
She looked up at Nangong Liuyun; he was currently focusing all his attention ahead, his profile as perfect as an ancient Greek god's. His expression was serious and cautious, completely different from his usual cynical image.
Su Luo forgot who had said it, but they said a man is most charming when he is serious.
At this moment, she felt those words were very true.
Having seen so much of his unbridled and cynical side, suddenly seeing him serious made him seem exceptionally captivating, to the point where she could hardly look away.
Just then, a low growl from a Demonic Beast echoed from ahead.
Nangong Liuyun's expression shifted slightly, and he came to a halt.
"What's wrong?"
Bei Chenying asked in a low whisper.
Nangong Liuyun didn't look at him, but spoke four words with heavy emphasis: "Eighth-ranked Demonic Beast."
"Hiss—" Bei Chenying and the other two instantly sucked in a breath of cold air.
They had been safe all this way, not even seeing a single hair of a Demonic Beast, yet just as they were nearing the end, an eighth-ranked Demonic Beast appeared.
An eighth-ranked Demonic Beast—what kind of concept was that?
The three of them were all at the sixth rank, and while Nangong was more powerful, he was only at the seventh rank. As for Su Luo… ahem, her strength could just be ignored.
Three sixth ranks and one seventh rank could potentially stand a chance against a human expert, but their opponent was a Demonic Beast. When Demonic Beasts and humans were at the same rank, the beast's strength was significantly greater.
Bei Chenying felt a massive headache coming on and asked with some frustration, "Wasn't this supposed to be a safe passage? Weren't we supposed to have a clear path all the way? Why is there an eighth-ranked Demonic Beast?"
In an instant, all eyes were focused on Su Luo.
The crystal purple fish was hers, and she was the one communicating with it, so the responsibility naturally fell on her.
Su Luo looked very innocent. "My crystal purple fish is definitely the real deal." As she spoke, she looked to Nangong Liuyun for confirmation.
Nangong Liuyun nodded slightly, indicating he could vouch for her.
Su Luo scratched her hair, speechless. "But this Little Thing clearly told me to take the fifth path. Weren't we supposed to be fine as long as we followed the crystal purple fish's instructions?"
Bei Chenying and the others looked at Su Luo suspiciously. "Are you sure it's the fifth passage?"
"That's what the Little Purple Fish said," Su Luo said with certainty. She pulled out the crystal purple fish again, wanting to get a clear answer.
However, to her frustration, when she tried to contact the little fellow in her mind, it was actually fast asleep, dead to the world. No matter how she called, there was absolutely no response.
Su Luo could only helplessly spread her hands to the three of them and tell the truth: "It's asleep."
Bei Chenying's mouth twitched; he desperately wanted to grab the little fellow by the tail and give it a spanking.
"What do we do then?" Bei Chenying ultimately left the decision to Nangong Liuyun.
Nangong Liuyun looked at Su Luo with a complex expression. After thinking for a moment, he said, "Luo Luo, stay here. The four of us will go ahead."
"Wait!" Su Luo pulled an exquisite red sandalwood box from her space and carefully handed it to Nangong Liuyun. "Take this; it might be useful."
