Chapter 438: The Final Destination of Life

The boy yearned to live.

The boy yearned to be saved.

But that was an impossible feat.

Xu Xi knew that with the boy's injuries, there was no way he could maintain Persistence until the ambulance arrived.

That scarlet blood, the terrified expression, and the arms flailing wildly as if drowning were all the final struggles of a life.

The rough road surface was dyed red by blood, warm and eerie.

Hum!!!

The image began to distort.

Along with the Sea of Possibilities and the light reflecting the scene.

Everything fell into a gray, silent state of cracking.

Boundless darkness, carrying oppression and suffocation, made breathing scorched and difficult.

“…” Xu Xi's eyes lowered, his chest heaving.

He knew, better than anyone, that the boy's ultimate end was death.

Reality is not a fairy tale; good endings are rare, while bad endings are the norm.

When he was little, the boy was abandoned by his parents.

When he grew up, just as his fate began to take a turn, his life was extinguished.

He called for help.

He cried out.

With no one to rely on, he still tried his best to live on.

But the only one who responded to him was himself.

“Long-lost memories…”

“Is it because of the simulator? It’s only now that I truly remember.”

Xu Xi began to move forward, carrying the vast and majestic fluctuations of his status, forcefully stepping through that gray and silent space-time. Every step he took triggered ominous thunder and fire.

Thunder and fire raged, trying to block his path.

But he stepped right across them.

Space-time layered into invisible, solid barriers.

But they were shattered by a single palm strike.

After converging billions of possibilities, Xu Xi's strength was profound and unpredictable. Ignoring the Sea of Possibilities' attempts to stop him, he stepped onto that gray-toned Earth.

The world came to a standstill.

The crowd of onlookers and the rushing traffic were all motionless at this moment.

Only the sound of dripping blood was exceptionally clear.

Accompanied by a strong and strange sense of incongruity, Xu Xi appeared on the street, stopped in front of the boy who had lost too much blood, and supported him with both hands.

“I…”

“Have come to save you, Xu Xi.”

The power to change miracles swept across the world at this moment.

Bringing the dead back to life.

Turning back time.

The thin, pale boy regained his life.

The expression on his face rewound from fear all the way back to when he received his admission notice, his face glowing with a brilliant smile.

He looked like Xu Xi, but much more youthful.

Due to the reversal of time, the boy also lost his memory of the car accident.

Hum!!!

Hum!!!

Xu Xi was still changing the world.

The waves of the Sea of Possibilities became increasingly turbulent, yet they could not affect Xu Xi in the slightest.

Heaven and earth trembled because of His will.

The stars shone because of His existence.

Infinite Laws manifested from the firmament, forming scenes of flickering disillusionment.

Those were the various states of all living beings.

Xu Xi changed many things, such as the truck driver's route, the fates of several homeless people, and the policy funding for the orphanage.

“The meaning of possessing power lies in making up for past regrets.”

After changing everything.

Xu Xi looked up at the sky.

Then he looked around at the familiar scenes of his childhood.

Finally, he turned his gaze toward the excited boy.

Xu Xi knew very well what the boy's future would be like, because Xu Xi had lived through it once.

Going to university, continuing to study hard, and working multiple jobs.

After graduation, entering society in a daze and beginning to truly become an adult.

Living frugally.

Leaving early and returning late.

Renting a small room.

Because the landlord's family moved abroad, this small room became his exclusive world.

It wasn't large, but it had the scent of home.

In a future that could be seen at a glance, the boy would grow up to become [Xu Xi], an ordinary member of the vast masses.

Misfortune would still accompany him.

Like a shadow following its form.

He would often weep silently alone, then stand up trembling by himself, forcing himself to keep living.

Frankly, such a life of mixed bitterness and joy was enough to satisfy Xu Xi.

He never had any particularly grand dreams.

“But this… won't do.”

Xu Xi spread his hands, and concepts both intangible and tangible were extracted and solidified from his body, turning into a cluster of hazy mist that flickered between truth and falsehood.

Its true form.

Was what had been.

Accompanying Xu Xi's growth all along—the beautiful life simulator.

It was a dream that truly existed, and also the source of the connection of Karma.

“Without the life simulation, I wouldn't be able to achieve Transmigration across various worlds.”

“Without the simulation experiences and simulation rewards, I could still live on Earth, but Mo Li and the others couldn't.”

Looking at his past self.

Many images surfaced before Xu Xi's eyes.

They were the bits and pieces of his time with the girls since they met, filled with both bitterness and laughter.

Xu Xi did not want his absence to make the girls' deaths an inevitability.

Hum!!!

Hum!!!

A roar came from the barriers of the world.

Originating from the past, time was rejecting Xu Xi's existence.

Xu Xi did not resist; he only threw the simulator in his hand toward his past self before leaving.

“In the end, is it cause first then effect, or effect first then cause…”

“As it turns out.”

“The one who caused my legs to be disabled was myself.”

The power of heaven and earth pushed Xu Xi away.

He returned to the Sea of Possibilities.

Turning to look back, the boy in the light had already grown up, and the simulator within him had officially activated, triggering all sorts of extraordinary recoveries.

Xu Xi smiled.

He laughed loudly.

As he laughed, his voice became gentle, echoing in the empty Void Realm:

“Thank you, simulator.”

[Ding—]

[You have arrived at your beautiful life]

[trait information update complete; you have created an exclusive trait]

[Starting with Me, Ending with Me]

[Simulation has ended, simulator unbinding in progress. May your life remain eternally beautiful]

[Goodbye, Host]

A long, distorted mechanical voice came from the old Earth inside the light. It was the life simulator's farewell to Xu Xi, and also the closed loop of space-time Karma.

At this point.

Xu Xi had walked to the end of his journey.

He witnessed the final curtain call.

Putting a period on his own story, and also picking up the pen to write the beginning of his own story.

“From now on, there will be no more life simulations.”

Xu Xi watched as the cluster of light reflecting the past gradually disappeared before him.

His strength.

Had already reached beyond actual concepts.

He could achieve the effects of simulation himself.

But that was meaningless.

Just as the simulator said, Xu Xi had already arrived at his beautiful life. The only thing he needed to do was to cherish it properly.

“Well then, let's go home.”

“If I'm gone for too long, Klisa and the others will worry.”

Xu Xi turned around.

Before him was the disordered and chaotic Sea of Possibilities.

Without that glowing path, the Sea of Possibilities became incredibly violent, disrupting space-time coordinates and blurring the way back to Earth.

All things and all phenomena.

One space-time after another vibrated.

Xu Xi ignored those disturbances and stepped straight forward. The moment his feet rose and fell, a new road of radiance extended from beneath him.

Saving his younger sister under the scorching sun.

Holding the Witch's hand in the alleyway.

Rescuing the Commandery Princess in the house.

Restarting the Mech-Servant underground.

Supporting the Hero in the village.

The past with the five girls, those emotions of joy or sorrow, together paved a brand-new path.

It pierced through the vast sea of space-time, leading to the beautiful destination that belonged solely to Xu Xi.

One step, two steps.

From beyond the distant and unknown space-time, he returned to his true home.

————

“Brother, wu… wu wu…!”

After returning to Earth.

A figure threw herself into Xu Xi's arms, crying.

She had seen it, and the others had seen it too—the true past concerning Xu Xi.

The sadness in their hearts could not be stopped.

It was an intense pain as if swords were tearing through their hearts.

“There, there, haven't I come back? It's all right now,” Xu Xi coaxed gently, looking at the weeping Xu Moli with doting eyes.

Then he looked toward the Witch.

“Klisa, can you help me prepare a cup of hot tea?”

“No problem, Mentor.”

He looked toward the Commandery Princess with red-rimmed eyes.

“Yingxue, can you help me roast some Dragon meat? I'm a bit hungry.”

“Leave it to me, Mister!”

He looked toward the silent and sorrowful Mech-Servant.

“Ele, I'll have to trouble you too. Help me cook a tonic soup; my body is a bit fatigued.”

“Ele is very happy to serve you, Master.”

He looked toward the last one, the Hero who had lost her usual optimism.

Xu Xi's voice paused slightly: “Sevia, please stay by my side. I need your protection.”

“Yes, Lord Wizard!”

With a few words from Xu Xi, the sorrowful atmosphere was instantly diluted. He watched the busy figures of the girls and unconsciously showed a faint smile.

The train named [Life] continued forward, passing through one important station after another. Its journey had no end, but Xu Xi took the initiative to stop moving forward.

For Xu Xi.

His final destination was right here, at this very moment.

(The main plot ends here. I will write some character side stories later to fill in the holes and flesh out the settings, finally concluding the book with a wedding plot.)
