Chapter 48: Reversing the Past (Part 2)

Lin Fan looked down at his hands, his fingertips feeling slightly cold.

He began to vaguely sense that a massive conspiracy seemed to be hidden behind the scenes.

Was that car accident ten years ago truly just a simple accident?

If that laptop had been tampered with back then, what exactly was the person who tampered with it trying to cover up?

And how did he get dragged into all of this?

He tried hard to steady his breathing, not letting the doubts in his heart show on his face.

He kept his voice as calm as possible, but could not hide a trace of suppressed coldness: "Repair Master, is this tampering issue serious? Did someone intentionally tamper with it?"

The Repair Master's hands paused for a moment; he looked up at Lin Fan, seemingly hesitating whether to answer.

He lowered his head and continued operating the equipment, saying vaguely: "It's not too serious, perhaps just traces left over from an old system upgrade. It's still possible to repair it now, but the specifics depend on the recovery progress."

Lin Fan nodded calmly, but his inner vigilance had reached its peak.

He knew that overthinking was meaningless now; the key was to have Lin Yue appear and reenact the process of his death in the traffic accident.

Lin Fan said to the shop owner: "Repair Master, please go ahead and fix it, I'll come back to pick it up later." He then stepped out of the repair shop.

Rain tapped lightly against the ground. He looked up at the gray sky, took a deep breath, and thought, "Lin Yue, it's time for you to make your entrance."

After walking a few steps, a loud noise suddenly came from ahead: "Boom!" The sound of the collision echoed through the empty street, followed immediately by the screech of brakes.

Lin Fan's mouth curled upward. In the distance, at the intersection, he saw a silver-white starfire c9 collide violently with a black Fengchi X6.

One side of the starfire c9's body was deeply dented, and the front right wheel had been knocked into the roadside drainage ditch. The Fengchi X6 was in an even worse state; it had overturned and spun a few times on the ground before coming to a stop by the side of the road.

"Hmph, Lin Yue, you really did come. This time, let me see what kind of trick you're playing." Lin Fan followed them calmly.

Upon getting closer, Lin Fan, as expected, pulled out his car key and casually pressed the unlock button.

"Beep beep!"

The taillights of the starfire c9 in the distance flashed twice. Lin Fan's mouth curled upward.

"This counts as a perfect reenactment of the original plot."

At this moment, a fat man pushed the door open and jumped out from the driver's seat. The rain soaked his high-end suit, making him look disheveled.

He cursed in a rage: "Damn it! I can even run into this bad luck while test-driving a car!"

Several burly henchmen immediately crowded forward to support the fat man. One of them climbed into the starfire c9, trying to adjust the steering wheel to move the car to the side of the road.

The fat man pointed towards a parking lot not far away and ordered: "Don't just stand there, hurry up and get this car to the 4S shop for repairs!"

A few of them quickly brought a forklift and slowly lifted the starfire c9 to take it away.

Standing in the rain, Lin Fan seemed to understand something.

"The end of the world hasn't changed; what has changed is you, and how much you can understand. How much you can interpret is just like the tampering issue the Repair Master mentioned just now."

"No, I don't believe it. If the end cannot be changed, then I will die in a car accident three hours from now. I don't believe that Earth is the same as Bai Youyou's memory world."

Lin Fan set a countdown on his watch for 3 hours and 30 minutes. If it was true, then he would die in 3 hours and 30 minutes.

"Let me see if I will actually die."

Lin Fan followed quickly. As soon as he entered the 4S shop, he shouted sternly: "Stop! This is my car! What do you think you're doing?"

Lin Fan's voice echoed in the lobby, and everyone's gaze fell upon him.

A few henchmen were stunned for a moment and instinctively looked at Lin Yue.

Lin Yue glanced at Lin Fan with disdain and sneered: "Your car? Brother, this car is one I just dragged back to be repaired. How did it become yours?"

Lin Fan sneered and pulled out the car key, pressing the unlock button.

"Beep beep!"

The starfire c9's lights flashed again, proving that what Lin Fan said was true.

The smile on Lin Yue's face froze instantly. After a brief moment of stunned silence, he quickly put on a tough facade: "Oh, so what if the key is yours? The car is smashed like this; can you even drive it out? Leaving it here for us to repair is the Righteous Path."

Lin Fan replied coldly: "It can be repaired, but I must be the one to bring it in, not you secretly driving it away in the middle of the night and crashing it!"

Lin Yue's expression darkened, and he quibbled: "Don't put it so harshly. I was helping you test the car, just checking its performance. What's such a small accident? The repair costs can still be settled."

"Helping me test the car?" Lin Fan sneered repeatedly. "If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, were you not planning on returning the car at all?"

Lin Yue was clearly impatient and waved his hand to order his henchmen: "Ignore him, get the car into the repair area!"

"Who dares to touch it!" Lin Fan stepped next to the starfire c9, his voice cold as a blade. "The car is mine. Even if it's wrecked, it's not up to you to decide. Regarding today's matter, if you don't compensate me clearly, I don't mind calling the police."

A few henchmen looked at each other and began to hesitate. Lin Yue's expression became even uglier; he gritted his teeth and sneered: "Call the police? Is calling the police useful for this kind of thing? We both know how troublesome the procedures are; think about it yourself!"

Lin Fan did not waver; he pulled out his phone and dialed decisively: "Hello, 110, I want to report a crime."

A trace of panic appeared on Lin Yue's face. He hurriedly blocked Lin Fan and tried to press down his phone with a fawning smile: "No, no, no, let's talk this over! Let's settle it privately, privately!"

Lin Fan's gaze was mocking; this was the line Lin Yue was waiting for: "Settling privately is fine, then tell me, how will you compensate me?"

Lin Yue probed: "This car of yours, you fished it out of a scrap heap, right? How about this, I'll give you 200,000, which is enough for you to fix the car. How about it?"

Lin Fan felt disdain in his heart. 200,000? Even 2 billion in front of him right now would be nothing, but he remained calm on the surface.

Lin Yue then changed the subject and added with a smile: "However, you have to take the blame for hitting someone."

Lin Fan didn't intend to waste time with him. "No problem, I'll take the blame! But you have to pay the medical expenses."

Lin Yue said excitedly: "I'll cover all medical expenses! Don't worry, I'll take full responsibility for subsequent compensation. I definitely won't let you suffer a loss!"

Lin Fan took out his phone and confirmed that the other party had really transferred 200,000. The clear numbers on the screen suddenly caused a wave of panic in his heart.

Not long after, the piercing sound of police sirens cut through the night sky. Several police cars arrived quickly, their red and blue police lights illuminating the entire street.

Several traffic police officers got out of the cars, quickly cordoned off the scene, and began investigating the course of the accident.

A traffic police officer who looked like a captain walked up to Lin Fan and asked in a deep voice: "Are you involved in the accident just now?"

Lin Fan stepped forward and confirmed: "Yes, I am the owner of the car."
