Chapter 51: Are you kidding me? Which factory would give employees weekends off?
"Thank you, President Chen."
Everyone looked blankly at President Chen in front of the hall and shouted in unison and loudly.
"No need for thanks, this break is something you should have had anyway."
Chen Mo waved his hand a bit awkwardly; he hadn't thought about making these employees thank him for anything; he just wanted them to work less time and make his factory lose as much money as possible.
"Also, everyone worked hard working overtime yesterday. After the meeting, just go home and rest. Don't worry, today's rest counts as public leave, your pay won't be deducted."
"After you've recharged, come back to work tomorrow."
"Oh, right, today is Friday. Tomorrow and the day after are Saturday and Sunday, you rest, so come back to work the day after that."
"Alright, everyone is dismissed."
Clap, clap, clap…
Another burst of enthusiastic applause sounded.
Seeing how hard everyone was clapping, their palms must be numb.
"We're resting just like that?"
"Seems so, and three days in a row."
"Let me pinch you, am I dreaming?"
"Hey, easy, that hurts! Pinch yourself!"
"It hurts? Doesn't seem like a dream."
When Chen Mo returned to the office, the crowd in the hall hadn't moved for a long time, each face wearing a dazed expression.
But before long, it fell into chaos.
People were constantly confirming with each other if the news they just heard was true.
"Shen Rou, please tell those working from home about the system changes later."
Back in the office, Chen Mo leaned on his chair and said to Shen Rou who had followed him in.
"Okay, President Chen."
Shen Rou nodded, but didn't leave immediately, instead looking at Chen Mo with burning eyes.
This President Chen, who wasn't much older than her, was just too kind.
She had never seen a boss treat employees so well.
Two days off, paid statutory holidays, social insurance and housing fund, all kinds of benefits, and when he found out the employees were working too hard, he gave them a paid day off.
With all these policies added together, even those large enterprises wouldn't be able to achieve this level.
"What's wrong?"
Chen Mo found Shen Rou staring at him and subconsciously wiped his face, wondering if there was something dirty on it.
"Oh, nothing."
A blush flashed across Shen Rou's face, then she hurriedly turned and left, returning to her workstation.
Jiang Cheng had just changed clothes and was walking on the road in the Industrial Park.
Today President Chen gave them a holiday, and they were also off tomorrow and the day after, so he planned to go home and take a look.
He hadn't been home for over three months.
Actually, his home was in a small town just outside Jiang Cheng; it would take just over three hours by bus to get home.
But according to the factory's previous system, if he went home, he would at least lose his perfect attendance bonus, and if he stayed for a day or two, he wouldn't have much money left that month.
To earn more money, he hadn't taken any breaks.
But all this started to change after President Chen took over the company.
He didn't expect that at nearly forty, he would still have a job with social insurance and housing fund, and his salary had been raised a lot.
Today, the rest system was changed; they would have at least two days off every week, and it was paid leave, and his perfect attendance bonus wouldn't be deducted.
This way, he could go home every week.
But he didn't plan to run home every week.
He had heard recently that after the staff canteen was built, they would hire a few cleaners to clean up.
The salary could actually reach 4,000, and they would also pay for insurance.
He planned to let his wife come and do this cleaning job, so the two of them wouldn't have to be separated and wouldn't have to run back and forth.
This way, both of them would have insurance, and they wouldn't have to trouble their child in the future.
Also, the staff dormitory was being renovated, and the Rooms were designed as doubles, just right for him and his wife to live together.
Jiang Cheng couldn't help but smile as he thought about it; he already imagined the scene of them working and living together in the future.
"Old Jiang, dressed so nicely, are you off today?"
Not long after walking, Jiang Cheng heard someone calling him; he looked up and saw it was his former colleague.
He also worked in a factory in this Industrial Park. He had resigned and come to this Garment factory because his boss at that time deducted wages.
"Yeah, haven't been home for a long time, going back to take a look."
"The sun must have risen from the west; you never ask for leave."
Lu Zhenguo looked Jiang Cheng up and down and joked.
In the previous factory, this guy only asked for leave once every six months.
"Didn't ask for leave, the boss gave it to us."
Jiang Cheng replied with a smile.
"Oh my, haven't seen you in a while, you know how to joke now."
"It really is the boss who gave us the holiday, and it's three days."
Jiang Cheng held up three fingers and gestured, his face filled with irrepressible joy.
"Don't tell me business isn't good, so they gave you a few days off without pay? This kind of leave is worse than not having it, your boss is too crappy."
Lu Zhenguo saw Jiang Cheng's serious look and knew he wasn't joking.
But after a second thought, he had a guess.
"Your boss is the crappy one, our boss is great."
Jiang Cheng got upset the moment he heard Lu Zhenguo talk about his boss.
"These three days off are all paid leave, and in the future, there will be two days off every week, all paid."
Jiang Cheng held his head high, full of pride.
"Really?"
Lu Zhenguo looked at Jiang Cheng's appearance; he knew his personality well, and he basically wouldn't lie.
"Of course it's true. If you don't believe me, go to our Garment factory and ask the other employees."
Jiang Cheng pointed in the direction of the Garment factory.
"Old Lu, the boss is coming soon, we have to go back and work."
Before Lu Zhenguo could say anything more, a colleague in the distance was calling him loudly.
"Coming."
Lu Zhenguo responded, then looked at Jiang Cheng.
"I'm going to work, let's have a drink when there's time."
"Okay, go ahead and get busy."
Jiang Cheng watched Lu Zhenguo leave and sighed.
If it weren't for President Chen, he would be like that too.
"Old Lu, who were you talking to for so long?"
"A former colleague. I heard his current factory is pretty good."
"High salary?"
"Didn't ask about the salary, but that factory now has weekends off, and it's paid leave."
"Are you kidding me? I've been to over ten factories, if not twenty, but I've never heard of any factory having weekends off. Your colleague is teasing you, right?"
Lu Zhenguo remained silent.
Based on his understanding of Jiang Cheng, he wouldn't make such a joke.
But based on his understanding of factories, what his colleague said didn't make sense.
He had never heard of a factory with a weekend-off system.
